Well done, another helpful topic. I looked up the VW repair kit, 1K0 698 517 B with RRP of 299.50 GBP. You get the hydraulic section with pump. I looked into replacing G201 sensor which later sensor is LPKF 488360 but looks like you damage it when removing looking on forums so haven’t tried. Looks like you have the cheapest solution, anyone doing the same as you make sure you can take it back or swap it for another unit as they fail a lot and you could be fitting a faulty one from the scrap yard. Get it in writing before you spend out so you don’t get stuck with two faulty sensors. Turn steering wheel full left then right and drive 50-100 meters to reset steering Angle sensor whenever disconnecting battery, then reset one touch window function, hold switch down then let go and press down for 3 seconds, put window up, let go of switch and pull up on switch for 3 seconds to restore one touch winding up and down. Do this for each window. Make sure windows not iced up or kiddie blinds stuck to rear ones first though!!
ah mate thanks for this - really gonna help the family as our workhorse has same problem - Golf Plus - i did same on My focus Rs too swapped the ecu modules! sometimes you dont even have to clear codes a 40 mile drive does it
Great video, thanks. On my Touran (2006, Norway) the ABS-module is located more unavaliable, but I managed to change it. Thanks to your video I got the guts to order a second hand unit, and saved 1200£ ..

I’ve replaced the whole pump without switching parts I still have my abs light on do it need to be reprogrammed I still have the old original abs pump here
Hi! I swapped the hydraulic block of my ABS because I had a fault with the Pressure Sensor G201 as you. After the swap I had the communiciation error as you in the vid at 16:27. What was your solution? I have good pressure values until the "too many communication error" message.
I have the same car abs light on traction light on and steering angle sensor. I cleared angle sensor one but still got a fault code for it. I change out a seized calibre ever since then I have spongy pedal so I bought 3 master cylinder new abs module still getting spongy pedal now when the engine is off the pedal goes stiff it's only when the car is running. I have a power bleeder I have vcds to bleed abs. And the lights on the dash is doing my head in any ideas much appreciated
Nice job mate but I'm sure you can get a repair kit for that pump from the dealer but don't know how much it is but I think you did the best thing second-hand and definitely say the customer money nice job
I have just attempted this fix. I have managed to get the abs pump installed but have yet to bleed the system. My question is. After installation should the brake pressure data be near zero or will it only show a fix after the brakes are bled? Thanks in advance
Great video thanks. I changed my ABS module from my Touran 1T tdi 90 cv from 2005 by a standard exchange bought in a car case it is revised and guaranteed. I mount the module everything went well I did the pressure brake bleeding with the same device as yours. My concern is that I still have the brake pedal to soft. Do you know what is the best method to do the brake bleeding for a Touran? I thank you in advance.
Replaced valve block exchanged mail order BBA reman for a customer. Supposedly had a lifetime warranty. Lasted two years and now same problem. BBA avoid like the plague never responded to my emails. Will never use them again.
Hello. Great video. Do you know if it is possible to put a different module? My newly bought Audi A3 8P has a "1k0614117A" ABS module in it and it doesnt work. After a quick VIN check the system shows that the correct one for my car is "1K0907375P". My question is: how can I find out which ABS module is suitable for my car?
Cool I didn’t know they sold the bit separate good to know 👍, apparently the owner checked it and couldn’t get it done in the recall ... cheers mate 👍👍👍
Great video! Got the same fault! Problem is that I just spent 2 month in the hospital, and are not fit to work on my car! My traction light came on when I tried to start the car with a very low battery after coming home from the hospital! The ABS light do not light up, just the ESC light?! Can a bad/low battery, brake the pressure sensor?
I have a question and if you can respond quickly I will really appreciate, I’ve tried a used pump, it’s not programmed but if you scan it , it shows sensor has electrical fault, is it because I haven’t swapped my own module, or this unit needs programming and then it won’t show electrical fault, I am not sure if I’m being clear or not, obviously you must have tried many, if you buy used pump remove battery etc and plug new scan, obviously it will give few adaption errors but should it show sensor electrical fault, because I know about BMWs if steering ring isn’t programmed it shows abs pump has electrical fault, I don’t if it’s the same thing on Vw or not
I swapped out my old ABS unit which had intermittent G201 brake pressure error with a 2nd hand one. Same part number on both module and solenoid part. Now I have ABS/traction/parking brake and a new TPMS light on all the time. Does the new part still need coded even it has the same PN? I tried clearing fault codes but they came back straight away. Will an ECU reset via battery disconnect work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Looked at this video and started to tear down my caddy (touran) But no pump was found! The pump on the caddy is on the left from the front, and on the back of the engine! A hell to reach! Changed the ABS pump to a refurbished pump! But It was broken!! So now I have to do all the work again, in sweden, and its winter🥶😭😭
You should’ve labeled N for new O for Old on the module in case you forgot 1 represented new and 2 old in a hurry.. Also you should label the lines locations just like replacing spark plugs.
well done. I have a similar problem, the error code is the same, but when the engine is cold everything is ok, only after warming up the error turns on and stays on all the time. I checked the VCDS, everything looks similar to yours, but the brake pressure sensor shows -34 bar (minus 34 ..). Where to find the reason? In the same place as yours? Please answer.
Dominik Łolik hi Dokinik there is a possibility that is the same issue but I would check the wiring first, multi plug, check for leaks, because the fault isn’t there at all times it makes me think that the module itself could be faulty and maybe when the engine warms up some soldering joints maybe cause a open circuit 👍
Can i take the pressure sensor off of the metallic block? My factory one was seized on the rear left break and i changed the whole unit and from then i got the esp error. Can i change the sensor between the two?
May I ask on how you identified a replacement without removing it first....does the inbuilt brake sensor only feature on tourans or other VW abs units ?..
@@CarsExposed Yeah all depends on what you're doing. I have both a suction and pressure pump since it's easier if only one person servicing it. I'm usually servicing slave or master cylinders for clutches. Audi cars can be a pain if using the pedal pumping method
Ah right definitely if you are doing slave cylinders suction is the best in my opinion I had that on a Renault Megane once , you could pump the pedal as much as you want and nothing until I’ve used my vacuum/bleeding pump perfect tool for the job 👍
VW EOS 2007. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have the same error code with myABS unit 1K0614517AF. Can I do the same and just change the mechanical part from another ABS unit as 1K0 614 517 AT? I don't know about the difference between AT and AF
