  • I'm getting ready to finally go to Jumpmaster School! And in preparation, I'm practicing my rigging of the rucksack and the MAWC (Modular Airborne Weapons Case). To get into the course, you must pass the RIGEX event and the nomenclature exam. The RIGEX must be completed in 15 minutes with everything to standard. Here, I go over what the standard looks like and provide some insight on how to get it done within the time limit. If I missed anything or got anything wrong please let us know!

Graduated JM couple weeks ago here at Bragg. Knowing ALL of prejump before the course begins will help you A LOT. Maintain reentry as best you can and shadowbox like crazy at home once you learn the JMPI sequence in course. Side tip: superglue or liquid bandaid are clutch for circles.

Get confident in your nomenclature! That is a day 1 test and it is a go/no go test for the course with no re-test. And proper nomenclature applies throughout the course. Start memorizing and reciting your pre-jump. It is done by memory. Go slow with JMPI, learn and trust the sequence, speed will then begin to develop.

Great info in this video and channel! I would like to see a full run through at speed to see how fast you have to be pushing to get it in time.
Good luck, I know you'll crush it!

HPTLL must be routed over the left adjustable shoulder carrying straps, good luck in JM

Great video - I am sure many will appreciate the walk thru! Like Cecil, I am an "old timer" JM school in 12/1999 - graduate of the 82d Abn Div JM course (don't hate on me folks) - a Signal dude in division back in the day. The main differences I observed, your ruck is different - back in the day we had the ALICE pack and we made sure it was packed plump to include the three exterior pockets so the h-harness fit nicely and would not slide (same concept using your e-tool case). We had the M1950 weapons case (for practice we'd insert a 2x4 with a rock taped to one side to simulate the forward assist on the M4). I did notice that you are using two retainer bands to attach the HPT lowering line (likely new given new ruck). I was surprised, after s-folding the excess of your on the H harnness you used retainer bands vs. stowing in the elastic portion that is sewn in place on the female portion, leg strap release assembly (remember, after jmpi and waddling to the aircraft, that retainer band is going to be gone -- check with the JM cadre to see which technique they allow and if you go use the elastic portion, make sure it is serviceable). "back in the day" when testing to get our slip for the JM course, the cadre would look at all air items - it was NOT uncommon for some cadre to kick you out for ironing the HPT lowerling line (there was always a debate - does ironing cause degradation wich in turn can lead a life safety issue). All in all, you look good. Rig that ruck tight, be confident. Ask if you can use your material (e.g., retainer bands, masking tape...) or if they want you to use theirs. If using theirs, get your masking tape, rip if off to length and stick it to yourself so you are not scrambling to find a roll. Good luck and go crush it.

Hey man be aware not sure where your stationed but JM school has gone away from the harness single point release. They only use the Molle 4K so if your unit is telling you this, if you’re coming to Benning they’re setting you up for failure.

  • @chriswhite8852

Man I feel old. 99% of my jumps were ALICE under a T-10C. I did jump a dial of death harness for my French wings in Montauban, but that was Hollywood. I also did some test jumps with MOLLE right before ETSing. This nomenclature is another language for me except for “retainer band”. Good luck. Stay focused. You got this.

I’m an old timer (1999 grad) some of the equip is different (weapon carrier). We didn’t have a Rig Ex because that was something you learned in Airborne school and maintained through experienced in Airborne Ops. But I can see that being implemented as an added safety and/or as an eliminating process if you have limited open slots and too many walk-in students. It’s crazy but sometimes theres guys with hard slots that don’t show up. I’m looking forward to your process through the course. Good luck! Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Didn’t know if you routed those compression straps under the vertical nylon equipment hangers or mot! Hope

Watching this video reminded me of the time I did a combat jump and forgot to drop my pack. I didn't even realize what I had done until I was putting everything away and thought, man, I better unroll that line. 😀

If you're going to Advance Airborne School in Bragg, only the MOLLE 4K is allowed for white slip and class.

I have a few corrections for your Rigex. I just finished being an instructor at Benning. For rigging the large molle, the adjustable leg straps on the harness single point release has an integrated webbing retainer the excess leg straps must be stowed in that retainer but if the retainer is not present you will use a retainer band in place of the webbing retainer place it of the female portion leg strap and stow the excess with the retainer band as a single turn. For the excess webbing of the compression strap on the MAWC, the excess webbing must be stowed behind the vertical nylon equipment hanger. Bro you're crushing it with the nomenclature but Jumpmaster is all about attention to detail and those are deficiencies that you would call out in JMPI.

Hey gritty, I'm heading to ranger school in about 3 months. I'm already in pretty good shape as I already do 2 a days (running and weight lifting). I was looking at your 6 week and 13 week ranger school program. I want to buy the more intense program, which program is more intense and the more difficult program? Thanks

    • @GrittySoldier

13-week program, the 6-week is meant for hose who get last second orders to Ranger School, but you definitely want to do the 13-week one if you have enough time for it.

100% on rigging 99% on the written and ...... bumped by the 1SG saying no E5 is going to JM school before an E6, much to the dismay of SSG Hunter, and that is how it went back in 89' 1/505 PIR

    • @chrisp1624
      @chrisp1624 Год назад

Man that is rough. I was an E5 in the 82d Signal Bn going to the JM Course back in 1999 -- we did not get a lot of slots so we were flexible, I think we sent a CPL at one juncture.
