Thanks so much! :D This is such funny timing, I was actually rewatching 'Power Over Me' on the weekend, which is still fantastic -- I'm back in TIM mode because, to bring it full circle, I'm currently doing a TIM Fusion AU fic of The Pretender.
@@absinthespoonsOh man! That’s exciting to hear! What is it about that era of television?? I feel like I have a lot of unfinished business with these shows.
@@vidsbyfabella Right?? I don't know what it is. Maybe it's that they have the right level of kitsch, maybe it was just the sort of shows that got greenlit, that more high-concept genre silliness got through... Maybe it was just at the right level of fulfilled vs unfulfilled potential idk
I want to shout of happiness ! What did I just witness ? It's so great I might cry ! You did something incredible, neither cringy, neither boring, it's more like : exciting, moving, fun, harsh, true to the characters ! God you did good ! It's hearbreaking the shows is not more popular nowdays because boy you deserve more views for that !
!!! this comment is everything, thank you so much for taking the time to write it! "exciting, moving, fun, harsh, true to the characters" is exactly what I was going for, so I am very pleased to hear it. especially like the inclusion of "harsh", I do love how this song worked really well for being critical (with love) of both characters, without ignoring all the ways in which it would be very emotionally difficult for these two to find happiness together. I think it's very easy to get hokey about these two so getting the tone right was very important to me. thanks again, your comment brightened a grumpy day for me :)
@@absinthespoons well your video put me in a exciting mood before going to bed ! And yes you're right, the tone is very important, specifically for this show and this two. The Pretender is really a hit and miss show, having the best elements to it, and sometimes the cringiest, so being able to do what you do is a gift for the fandom because you bring out the best of it to do a really engaging video that please the romantic mind with intelligence and sassiness :)
I love this so much, been rewatching the series and reading all the fanfiction I could find and then stumbled on this little gem. Amazing editing work and great choice of song. Will be using this as inspiration for writing fanfiction 🎉
@@absinthespoonsI don't know where my reaction to this comment went, but let my try again. Found some very good fics, unfortunately lots of the old fics have gone because some of the websites that were hosting them are not in use anymore. Still looking for the fics that wrote an entire season 5 and 6, maybe even a season 7 and eight. Where Miss Parker also had a clone, and the Centre caught Jarod and made him addicted to a certain drug. Still can't find that one, afraid those are lost forever. Mine is at 6000 words at the moment, will post something when I have most of the outline of the story and completed at least three chapters, otherwise I'll just post and never finish the story🙈 Will let you know when I post!
@@absinthespoons I've reacted to this three times now and it's not showing up, but yes I am on ao3 and just posted the first chapter of the story "When she loved me".
Without even going into how well the song choice fit, this had absolutely stunning editing; every clip felt like it slotted perfectly into the lyrics, and I love how well-timed the cuts were to the music beats. (Also side note, I thought that bit with the rat at the beginning was great 😆)
At 0:42, there's a clip of Sam holding Jarod in a hallway, Miss Parker and Sydney are there. She appears to take a phone from Jared's pocket and throw it down. I've been rewatching the show but I cannot figure out which episode is from. Anyone know?
Absolutely amazing! I can’t get enough of all the subtleties and parallels! I really want to rewatch this show now ❤
Thanks so much! :D
