  • On this episode from Season 1, Dr. Caroline Leaf and Amber Riley join Stephanie Ike to discuss the limitations we sometimes place on our mind and our potential. The conversation will help us look at our mental health in a new way and to be empowered to see our brain and mindset as something that can be renewed and healed. Dr. Leaf is a neuroscientist, speaker and author who shares how science is backed up by the word of God and our ability to heal our brains. Amber Riley is an actress and singer best known for Glee and Tyler Perry’s Nobody’s Fool. She helps us understand mental health diagnosis by sharing her healing journey with anxiety. This episode highlights that there is hope to overcome, no matter how severe the state of your mental health is.

I really loved this conversation because it’s packed with knowledge that can help you understand what’s happening inside of you. We know something is wrong but we don’t know what and how to handle it. Self awareness is key and in my opinion the reason why a lot of people are not self aware is because they are filled and distracted with so many things. I quit social media for 2 years and my self awareness heightened. Now I know exactly what I am thinking and how I am feeling and this has tremendously helped my behaviour change. This was helpful. Thanks to whoever put this awesome Ladies and episode together 👏🏾

OMG, I'm so happy she's on your show!! I'm obsessed with Caroline Leaf! Her teachings freed me and helped me take control of my thought life, literally things in my life instantly changed when I realized I had the power to take control of my thoughts. I love how she breaks down the science of how damaging negative thoughts are to the actual brain, just knowing this keeps me checking up on my thoughts throughout the day. Say it with me "I have a Power, a Love and a Sound Mind" Thank you ladies

Good teaching. As a psychiatric social worker I tell my patients this very thing because the labels i.e. diagnosis is paralyzing and de-empowering.

This whole podcast pissed me off!! Simply because I was diagnose bipolar and take medication. So, how is it that the doctor down play it, as mental illness and a chemical imbalance, isn't real? Did I ask for it? NO However, I don't claim that it defines who I am, but it is apart of me. Plus without the meds, my faith and relationship with God, therapy, and self-enhancements with a positive family/friend support. Being in the psych ward would be my home. But God, I am a witness that you can make it with this diagnosis and live a full abundant Life. A very judgmental discussion.

This was good. Our brain and body as created for positive things, yet we live in a world that we cannot control the events that happen, but we can control our reactions and we can change our brain. A human condition

Great interview, very educational, and enlightening. The interviewer is towering the guest base on the type of chair that is being used, which makes the guest appear smaller- getting a couch or chair that is level with the guest makes it more personalable; just a suggestion.

Wow I was just thinking about this with certain ppl in my life. When they hurt me or others, I questioned..are they just ignorant of the choices they make? Do they lack self-awareness? How can I help to make it clear to them? but I'm tired of lending a hand to those who continue to hurt me because I am willing. It is not my responsibility but maybe I can learn the boundaries of when I am getting too involved.

If you've followed Dr Leaf like I have, you'd realised she's a teacher. She's the kind of a person you invite to take on a platform and teach and not necessarily interview. She's a well researched scientist and very passionate about her subject. Baring in mind the time factor, I think Stephanie tried her best to facilitate the interview and ensure that Ms Amber Bailey was as engaged.

With all due respect...where is Stephanie Ike’s husband? I find it odd that a Christian woman w her beauty appeal and status is speaking to young women about what they ought to do in this day and age while being single at 30 yrs of age.
Something isn’t adding up...women at that age (especially ministers in the church) should be married.
