I was at the Russell Fields pier a few weeks ago. All kinds of people asked me what I was fishing for. Being an old Missouri boy, I had no idea what I might catch, but I do know that all I was really doing was feeding the little thieves. I just started telling people I was going for politician fish. They asked what type that was, and I said, "Well, they always seem busy, but they just steal from you; leaving you broke"

All I'm going to say from watching Brant channel and Ron's they're both great fishermen Ron has my respects he was Brants right hand cameraman for the longest and the fact they win their separate ways just tells you how much they both have grown in being successful with RUclips some of y'all need to have some common sense I don't see that guys message anymore but I'm glad because I had a piece of my mind for him Brant thank you for what you do and the respect you did gave who knows maybe we might see you guys fishing again later on tight lines everyone!!#forRON!

My biggest issue with pier fishing is inconsiderate people. When it's busy they'll cast all over you, crowd you out of a spot, and step all over your gear if you aren't careful.
Not like it used to be…all these public places are too congested now, and people are not as respectful & nice as they used to be…seems to be the case for the usa as a whole. Just a different class of people in the usa now…
Yeah I saw the same thing when I went. Some of the worst people I’ve ever met in my life. Here in Texas theyd be thrown over the rail and all their gear stolen. Definitely a different world

about 5 of the most low life sobs ive ever seen on that pier out there all the time
I fish Surfside Beach, TX at least twice a week and we have no size or limits on pompano, such a great tasting fish. I fish the surf and load up my ice chest with whiting and a few black and red drum. Surf fishing is the best for me and my wife. No snags..

What I learned in 50 years of fishing with many years working party boats and fishing resorts, it's hard to teach most men they usually think they don't need help but women will listen to you and learn quick.

Yo brotha Brant , I used to live in fort Walton and Destin , grew up fishing out of the Destin harbor and all over the panhandle since I was a kid man , love ur videos . Caught a 68.4 pound gag grouper on a butterflied red snapper when I was 13 was 12 pound away from world record and was Florida record

I just heard about Ron myself, I was just in the hospital with a severe case of bleeding colon. (Diverticulitis) My wife went on line and asked for prayer for me I spent three days in the hospital and have recovered from it completely. Prayer is the answer.

Brant, I lived in Pensacola for 30 years with my parents.My dad asked that his ashes be spread off the end of the beach pier which was he beloved second home. Your videos made on the pier bring back fond memories. Thank you so very very much for them. And yes watch your head out there. V/R Darrin

Off shore got crazy yesterday as well. Almacos/red snapper/ lanes/ beeliners/ cobia were going off on top water near tenneco platform. Great video
I was on Navarre a couple weeks ago in a school of Jack Crevalle came through. A group of five or six guys were chasing them throwing big jigs and just crossing everyone's lines. Total disrespect for others and then getting mad when they got tangled up.
Here's what i learned about fishing over my life time. If you're into fishing or just want to try, fishermen are usually the nicest most informative people who will go way out of their way to set you up and get you into fish. Just go to your local shop and just ask questions. By the end of your experience you'll have a dozen places to fish, what and how to fish for whatever is running. When you get to the spot you choose, just ask another fisherman if you have questions. I'm telling you , I'm not saying ever person will be informative but don't give up.
Fishing will give you a great feeling after a day of it.

Sorry to hear about fellow Kentuckian, CMR. Nobody wishes I’ll health on anyone even though you may go in different directions in life. Hopefully Ron has a full recovery and uses this event as a wake-up call to live more healthier life

I went to the end of the Pier and threw out long-distance towards the gulf to get even deeper... I caught a beautiful grouper... it didn't reach length by like an inch... now that is disappointment served on a copper platter ;)
I used a double drop rig and caught two at a time.
That pelican was looking at you and getting closer... he was thinking "there is one born every minute"
I've had Pelicans snatch bait before it hit the water when going for a long cast. Same Pier.
I use feathers/sabiki rigs for pompino, it works very well. great video btw!!!!

I fished one of the beach accesses Saturday and passed by the pier around 5:30ish. I was shocked how packed it was.
I’ve been there a couple times I like going fishing there and I would recommend it to anybody that’s going and by the way, you’re a really cool RUclipsr

I used to pier fish in Panama City Beach. I was always afraid to catch a large fish and have to try to get him up.

The water is definitely not nearly as nice. Actually, you can't see crap it's dirty water How low the water was crystal clear out around catalina island

I have been very fortunate to never get into anything too sketchy on a pier, but have on a party boat before!
My mom and dad lived in the valley there in l a Like 5 minute, walk to the beach.
When I lived there, I caught pompano by casting live sand fleas directly into the surf from the beach.

Sometimes the ends of piers become the body piercing capitals of the world when a school of fish comes through!
I believe Pensacola has the most beautiful water in the world... and Imma Navy guy... take it as you will... but I have seen some salt water
