You guys should literally have a show on tv. It would be a hit
Aloha brothers Shinichi & Satoshi! Mahalo for this video I love the Poi Bowl, oh man my mouth is watering! But I'm super happy you both enjoyed your deliciousness. People who don't like poi unfortunately don't know how to eat it so thanks to you you're educating people near & far 😉. I love this video, keep 'em coming, love...
This was so nice and relaxing to watch! I loved it! Its so interesting to see the different foods in Hawaii
Great video! I love when you talk to the restaurant owners in your videos, and he seemed nice. I hope his business is still alive and thriving!!
This is the super traditional Hawaiian dessert *quietly claps*
This is a really good video - not only because of the obvious look at the plate lunches but Shinichi and Satoshi show HOW to eat it. Some people who come to Hawaii and try the local dishes don't know the way to eat - like dipping the Lomi Lomi Salmon in the poi or adding the chiliwater to spice up the pork. It is very interesting. Thanks!
Guy Mats Well said! Sending good wishes your way!
Guy Mats well that’s because shinichi was born in Hawaii so he knows how to eat the food there
Gotta have the chili pepper water with it
I love watching you guys you just seem so genuine and sweet and y’all are always happy it makes my day to see y’all sweet smiles...oh and it makes me hungry lol
I love the diverse types of food and places you show us! Everything looks so tasty!
Mahalo Shinichi and Satoshi for showcasing Hawaiian food!!
I’m so happy you guys are doing all these segments on Hawaiian food. I’m going to Honolulu soon for my nieces wedding. I’m going to try as many of you recommendations as possible in one week. Thanks guys for being so amazing 😊🙏
This video made me smile. You two seem like really nice people. I will be trying this while I’m here!
Thankyou both for sharing amazing amazing yum food...
So healthy so yum.
Thank you for your video. I've lived in honolulu for 3 months but never known about this. I'll try Poi bowl next time I go to Ala moana center.
Nice video guys lots of interesting looking dishes that you tried. Thanks for sharing that with everyone .
Passed by this place so many times, but never knew what to order, now I know!

Thank you for trying and showing us this video of Hawaiian Food! I'm actually going to Oahu for the BMars concert and staying at the Ala Moana Hotel! Perfect! I know it will be amazing to eat at Poi Bowl! So looking forward to an amazing weekend in November! Mahalo Tabieats!
Satoshi is such a sweetheart!
He just makes me think of Ken Watanabe every video! Let me go watch one of his movies!
We ate here yesterday per your recommendation. We split the Local Boy Special and it was delicious! The meat was very tender.
My mouth watering now
OMG!! Laulau with butterfish and 3 day old poi!! Soooo ono! You need rice with squid luau! Missing some opihi!~ Nevah been to Poi Bowl but Ono's is my fav back in dah day! Now you have to go to Leonard's!
Everything looks delicious! I really hope I get the chance to try Hawaiian food someday. Thanks to you I already know the typical dishes! You're looking great guys! So relaxed. Great weekend for you both! Love you
You're always making me hungry for the types of food you review! I love Hawaiian food & miss it! Its not the same at L&L here who have a Hawaiian plate. I'm also homesick, not only to see my family but the Food!!! 👍👍👍❤❤❤
Omg I love your guys videos I’m subscribing for sure! The Manapua video made me drive from
Waipahu to town to go to U-Choice inn for manapua, pork hash and chow fun. It’s nice to see someone sharing our foods and how hawaii interprets a lot of different cultures into the food cuisine. Keep up the grinds ALOHA 🤙🏽
Authentic Hawaiian mall food. Yum.
Hawaii is one of the places on my Bucket list.
Hawaiian foods looks so good and delicious, I should try it! 😃😉
You guys surely love Hawaii, right?
@@jadecummings8093 I don't it's filthy, expensive and pack with mean and rude people, I was bullied in school for not being hawaiian, I was treated differently in hawaii, now I live in Virginia which is better.
@@aj-ij7pd get 808 out yo name than
im crying i want to eat all of that so bad just recently moved from hawaii to california and there is no place here that has authentic Hawaiian dishes once again im crying
Everything looks delicious!
the first time i ever had hawaiian food was at my college. our school had a hawaiian students group and they had luau and pig roast. it was snowy and cold outside, but it was warm and fun inside. i'd never heard of poi, but it was so delicious!!! and seeing a whole roast pig being brought in was really cool. maybe someday i can go there and have even more wonderful food...
Thanks for the heads-up! I have not visited the food court yet, but will now.
My, this looks incredibly yummy!!
Take care guys!!
I always stop by when I visit Honolulu....So good
Those beef dishes in particular look so so good .... Great now you've made me hungry and it's late here
This video really gave me a good overview of Hawaiian cuisine. I've had lomilomi salmon, but I haven’t had a chance to try the others. By the way, I made your haupia on Sunday, and now I'm completely hooked. Your lunch at Poi Bowl looked delicious, and I love that you can try so many items. The owner was charming too. Thanks for this video and have a great weekend! P.S.Keeping everyone affected by the typhoon and earthquake in my thoughts. P.P.S. Please vote for TabiEats in the Best Food Video category of Saveur magazine’s 2018 Blog Awards.
Aloha my brothers! Can I start out by saying that you both look so handsome!! Oh my gosh! Everything that you guys ate looked so delicious! Brother Satoshi’s plate lunch-Chicken long rice (my fav), lomi lomi, and lau lau were my “go-to” dishes when I used to work down near Torrance. Oh, and chicken char siu, instead of kalua pork. Brother Shinichi, the pipikaula looked so yummy, as did the beef stew. I will definitely visit Derrick’s family restaurant one day when I can get to Hawaii. Sigh...... Thank you for sharing!
Yum, that all looked so good. And yes, I have had poi. It's ok. I like it with fruit. But a good meat would work too. It definitely needs something with a strong flavor, since it is just pasty bland.
But now I want to go back to Hawaii. Luckily I live in the Silicon Valley and we have some Hawaiian places here.
Everything looks so good! There's a place here in the Valley that serves Hawaiian food, and that's where I first tried Laulau and Kalua pork. I love laulau. I think anything with taro leaves (or just taro even) makes me happy. I'd love to try the squid luau. There's a Filipino dish called laing that's the same, but without the squid. It's one of my favorite dishes. I wish there'd been more authentic Hawaiian food at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport where I had a layover on the way to New Zealand, but the best I could find was loco moco and some places with kalua pork. Strangely, several places here serve loco moco. I'm glad for that! And I could eat long rice every day. Thanks for showing us all these great dishes!
Love the video. I just happened to drag my family to Poi Bowl last night. My son had the Lau Lau and Kalua Pork. My wife had the Pork Guisantes (pork and peas). I had to try the Tripe Stew and the Squid Luau, since I've tried almost everything else. I've never had squid luau with tako that tender before.
Oh yum!! Now I think I’m going to make some chicken long rice this weekend! 🤤🤤🤤
Sheena L. Best wishes with the chicken long rice! I bet it will be delicious! :-)
I lived in Honolulu for a year, I ate lunch at Poi Bowl soooo many times....love that place.
This was a fun little video. I must try the Chicken noodles, as they seem to be a favorite of both of you. And, a nice touch to have the owner of Poi Bowl make an appearance. Cheers....
Thank you so much for this video, Shinichi and Satoshi. The food at Poi Bowl looks absolutely fantastic! I have such good memories of my trip to Hawaii many years ago, and it includes eating lots of delicious Hawaiian food. I was lucky to eat homemade Hawaiian food at a family and friends luau. Everything was so yummy. Looking at all these foods makes me remember it so happily. Thanks for the great video. Sending lots of good wishes to you both!
I've been binge-watching several of your recipe videos and taste tests and they're wonderful ! :) You both sound so positive and kind ,I love Satoshi's voice . Love to you both and thanks for your videos ! :) 💖 I've been hoping to visit Hawa'i for a long time and this'll be another reason to visit :)
You guys make it all look good.
Excellent video on local Hawaiian food. I have to admit that the times I was at the Makai Market Food Court in Ala Moana, I would pass Poi Bowl as it didn't look like a popular place among the many customers (also didn't think it could surpass the great local food at Highway Inn in Honolulu). Now I'll have to try Poi Bowl's food as I do love the local food, and their plates look great!
Norman Dea I was thinking the same thing. I will have to try it next time also.
But pricey, eh?
Its Hawaiian not local
@@dalastkanakamaoli9058 I'm aware of that.
Thank you for talking about the dessert! Most videos don't mention it.
I thought it was a block of cheese or something.
Looks nice, will try it next time we are there.
Hello Brothers. So glad to see you. Thanks for explaining the way to eat Hawaiian foods. I must be honest, I had to Google the long rice. Now that I know what it is it sounds delicious. Anything pork is good for me and the Stew reminds me of mine because I use a lot of tomato paste in mine. Yummy to my tummy. I didn't know what kind of leaves that the Laulau was wrapped in was taro leaves. Thought maybe it was collared leaves. Anyway, it all looked slap your mama good. Thanks again Brothers. JC
Laulau is wrapped in elephant ears/dasheen leaves. Luau is generic Polynesian name.
Merci.
Prenez bien soin de vous les garçons.
Good video.. I ate there today .. and will be back before heading back to australia
Gonna try this place next time I go to the mall.
Going to try making squid laulau this weekend. My taro plants just have enough leaves now to make a batch! May try it with take if I find it. Poi Bowl always hits the spot.
I wish there would have been more descriptions.. I had no idea what most of that was
I’m a muslim so I have restrictions on what I can and cannot eat but OMG my mouth is still watering haha. These all look so good!!
A lot of Hawai'ian food is definitely not halal. Plenty of chicken and maybe you can get turkey SPAM at some places, though! ;-)
Its all about the pork which is amazing so not a good place for muslims.
+Ezx True. That just means more for the rest of us. :-)
Enjoyed the video, and Loved the the Hawaiian food" from "Poi Bowl"!! "Highly recommend opening cafes on the Big Island "Thank You"!!!!!!
Can you make a recipe for Hawaiian food 😌 its all mouth watering to my eyes right now 🤩
Yes...love too to visit
"Poi Bowl" Is sub standard Hawaiian food. Its ok... but not good. If you wanna try great Hawaiian food go to places like Helenas Hawaiian food, Youngs Fish market, Waiahole Poi Factory, etc..
My favorite is Youngs Fish market. The Beef LauLau (only served on Wed/ Sat) is awesome.
Helenas is da best. Good Hawaiian food.
Totally agree. Also, we eat the poi by itself, not with dipping something else into it and then eating. At least that's the way I grew up eating poi. Love poi!!
Or just go Times when they have their Hawaiian plate, lol.
Agree
Its a bit like part 1970's School Dinner tray, with spam, macaroni and rice ball scooped, punctuated by some real gems like the slow roast meat and raw fish
Great great video guys
thanks for this review - another place to try next time i’m home - looks good!
squid luau doesn't look appetizing but tastes great! the vegetable in it is taro leaf aka luau leaf. (luau originally meant taro leaves and later came to mean a feast where the dish was served.) never had lomi salmon w/smoked salmon (think it’s usually made w/ ‘salt salmon’?) - sounds interesting tho’.
have you had kulolo (baked dessert w/grated taro, coconut milk, brown sugar)? if not you should try it! try young’s fish market in kapalama/iwilei. not cheap but it's hard to find, so...
Watched your plate lunch video and your recent 7/11 Hawaii video. I wasn't surprised to see things like adobo since I know there are many Filipinos in Hawaii. The "long rice" surprised me though. Didn't realize that was such a staple there. It's something I grew up eating, especially during the rainy season or if I was coming down with a cold. We call "long rice" sotanghon. It's sometimes served dry and sometimes in chicken soup :) Macaroni salad is also quite popular in the Philippines (but perhaps not served as often). Ours usually has things like grated carrots, crushed pineapple, grated onions, shredded chicken, etc. So interesting that eating raw onions is so normal. I can imagine they're sweet. Hoping to visit Hawaii one day. It looks so beautuful and I think I'll enjoy some things familiar and some things totallly new to me
Miss island food...so rich so yum
OMG that's the same one I used to go to YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEARS ago! Lau-lau, poi, lomi, maybe some chicken long rice or whatevahs, epic plate.
Urayamashiiiiiii! Looks sooo tasty!
OMG I miss traditional Hawaiian food 😍
日本だとロコモコとかガーリックシュリンプが有名ですけど、こういうローカルフードもたべてみたいです😋本当に全部おいしそーう🤩
I love poi! Need to order frozen poi online to get my poi fix😋
I like poi bowl, but next time you on Oahu, go check out Highway Inn off of Alamoana Boulevard..Their food is awesome.
I miss Hawaii! Mostly the food
Derek owner....yum
really *fresh* poi [I know a grower] is slightly sweet, not bland. I, too, was reluctant to eat squid luau, but then ~ *yum!*
Super yum..
Really want some Lau Lau right now.
Chicken Long Rice looks like Pad Woon Sen (thai dish glass noodle, spicy)
Haloha. Now I'll have to search for Hawaiian restaurants here in London lol :)
Did you just say haloha
Thank you for showing me how to eat Hawaiian food
Thanks a lot. ☺️
That's look good yum
Poi bowl yum
Thanks for the vid guys! The owner seems so nice
Squid luau and chicken long rice are my faves. Fresh poi is pretty bland so it's best to eat it one or two days old; it will develop a tart umami the older it gets.
I almost ate there :( but I went to a sucky place instead
Mmmm yum yum :)
Pork lay lau on hot white rice is delicious 😋
Hope you guys do a tour of Ala Moana. It's been years since I lived there.
ruclips.net/video/YhmDBKdipGg/видео.html check out the youtube video by PhotoLukeHawaii...I subscribe to him, as his walk tours are in realtime and with no commentary...
You give my mom Lau Lau or lomi salmon with no poi she’s gonna complain lol
>"POI Bowl"
My brain starts thinking about Yuudachi
Squid luau is my FAVORITE
it’s so interesting how a lot of hawaiian food look so similar to filipino food, but i don’t know if they taste the same. i hope i get to try hawaiian food some time!
Was there for two weeks and Miss the food!!!
I had their Orchid Plate Special tonight as well, and the prices have raised since you went less than a year ago. The food was good, but the lomi-lomi salmon was really too salty in my opinion. You also have to ask for the chili pepper water and the raw onions and salt. I compare this meal with the one I had at Highway Inn, and thought they were both good, I thought the quality at Highway Inn was a bit better. Just my opinion.
Do you have a video on Pearl City food trucks?
What is Long Rice and why does it look like Cellophane noodles? It all looks VERY delicious for sure!
I am leaving to Hawaii next Monday and going to stay in Hawaii Honolulu and Maui for 10 days. Where should I go and what special food should I try? Anyway, food looks so yum!
TabiEats, when I was in high school my classmate worked at Poi Bowl as short order cook. I missed Zippy Food mostly their fried saimin. Are you going soon show it in your channel?
My wrong, found it in your early vog.
Food looks delicious like at a luau
