You were so right about the "buying in the brand" stuff. I personally can't justify dropping 420 quid on a pair of boots from a brand that is relatively unknown yet I've considered buying the Wyatts several times. It's insane how firm of a grip brands have on our perception of what is worth our money, even if we consider ourselves to have a personal style and opinion.
depends on if you care about the design. You buy different if you only concider fashion as a function of "looking good/being comfortable" than you would if you take fashion partly as art. I mean people would pay tens of millions for an original Van Gogh and on the other side next to nothing for a replica and it could be just the same.
Well it being "brand name" is generally accumulated after decades of them consistently manufacturing good products. The extra price you're paying is for the reassurance and confidence in the quality. It's kinda like buying insurance
I understand where you're coming from, if it makes you feel any better Story et Fall is really thoroughly reviewed on a lot of fashion reddits and youtube and they make a very solid product. I have a pair of their chelseas and a pair of their wyatt boots and both of them are extremely well made and high quality.
And let’s not forget that this style of boot has been around for as long as zippers have been around. Even the Beatles wore zipper boots.saint Laurent is just the most well known
I own the "Luca" boots from From the First, quality is insane, built like a tank yet very comfortable. I have 5 pairs of SLP boots too, and I can say only 1 of them can match From the First...
I saved up several paychecks to purchase my navigate and leather wyatts, the satisfaction I got when acquiring those just feels so good can never get the same feeling from purchasing alternatives like you said.
Welcome back fam, you were sorely missed! It would have been dope to throw SeF alongside FTF and SLP for the comparison, just because SeF is $100-200 cheaper than even FTF. I'm curious if SeF is the best bang for your buck or if there's a significant enough drop off to justify going with FTF.
I have heard reports that FtF has a reputation for being slow with shipping orders out. Kind of hesitant to hop on this brand. Shoes look very nice though but you would think for the price they charge, they would be faster with order processing and shipping.
I bought one pair in September and it took 3 days after payment was made to arrive then i ordered another one during their black friday sale and it took 10 days. But the waiting time is definitely better than SEF.
Sebastian Kennedy I purchased a pair on December 2nd and didn’t get them until after I text their customer service. And even then I didn’t receive them until December 23rd...
I own 2 pairs of SLP and you brought up the idea of "if you want to buy the brand or buy the look" tbh i think I want to actually buy the look and save my $200
I own the Lorenzo boots and I like them a lot. One thing I realized after getting them is the extra height on the boots makes a huge difference. Wish they were the same height as the diors.
Question for the channel watchers: Do Yall think the SLP Harness and that whole type of boot will age and be coveted like Dior's? I just feel like SLP aesthetic is rinsed
Yeah I think that they will stay popular for a long time just because they are a great versatile silhouette but the Wyatts are not rare, so I don't think they will ever become a grail like the dior boots
I wish i read the comments about the customer service before i bought these boots tho. Purchased a pair a week ago and haven't gotten any kind of communication despite sending numerous messages lmao
Their customer service is kinda hit or miss for me. When i bought my Diegos in Sept I got them within a few days with no problems. Then i got the Enzo chain harness during Black Friday and they took nearly a week to ship my order after numerous emails and messages on Instagram. Guess they could not cope with the demand during Black Friday as i notice so many others are facing the same issue.
@@metamorphomisk yeah they did last I checked but even they were surprised with the amount of orders for Black Friday. Hope they manage to solve it cause the boots are amazing.
The price of a boot depends on material and workmanship. After a certain price you are paying for hype and brand. Which is not necessary. Actually if a cheap boot is made on a good last it can be good but it will not last long
in comparison. i have a pair of FW/13 hedi's wyatt and I have a pair of chain Enzo from FTF. both are great boots in my opinion. for FTF boots. the leather is outstanding. it does snugs your feet and the leather are hard to break in (took me 2 weeks to do so). i would recommend FTF if you were to look for affordable boots. the reason why i bought FTF because i wouldn't want to pay over 2k for a used pair hedi UNLESS you want to blow out that kind of money for the NAME. my taste in fashion isn't just about the name. for me, it's about the aesthetic. I appreciate FTF for continuing on Hedi's era and give a little twist in their silhouette. if you want the look, I say go for FTF. If you want the name, go for Hedi's (only if you want to blow 2k on it). that been said. I DO RECOMMEND FTF but be patient with their replies. because im pretty sure there is onle 1 or maybe 2 guys working the whole brand themselves. it's pretty complicated to handle such amount of orders within 1 or 2 guys in the market industry. it's still a growing business, and just give them a shot if you want to grab an hedi's inspired/alternative boots from FTF.
and for my FW13 wyatt. one of my fav pair from hedi's era. great silhouttte, leather is amazing, the heel lasted really long. i dont think i'd resell it. i appreicate it too much. and its one of those boots i can't wear it much because you will evetually get bored of wearing it and would want to get another pair (which i did with FTF)
My little toes scrapes off the sides of the boots which sucks. They’re all fucked up now. Going up a size makes my foot slide around though. On saying that I still wear em every day
I own 2 pairs of Enzo boots from FTF, in smooth black leather and camel with fringes, they are great boots and for this price, man you can't go wrong with them
Buyers beware. I bought a pair of Lucas from them and they started to crease differently. One boot had smooth creases and the other was really harsh almost like bad quality leather. Its very noticable and I stopped wearing them for that. They were also creasing at the toes which is really weird. I never had that problem with any leather shoes or boots.
I'm gonna email you now my man, but I guess you've got to understand that every piece of leather will break differently given the inherent natural qualities of the hide. At the end of the day, it's the skin of a once-living animal and the scope for variations in the hide is incredibly wide and should be embraced. Even brands like Celine and Saint Laurent face these challenges and no brand can guarantee that each boot/shoe will crease the same as the other. We have to remind ourselves that leather is a natural product that comes from animals and that variation and imperfection is why we use it.
