Ya know that's why I love spydercos you can tell the people who make them are honest and about as passionate about knives as anybody in the industry. Imagine how boring it must get for most people to talk about the same knives over and over but I haven't seen one interview where Eric or sal weren't completely focused and interested in their product. Their love and passion really shines through. And that's why I'm a Giant spyderco fanboy!
Bro, a pocket clip is like a tie, you don’t want to wear a wide yellow tie with a nice expensive suite. This pocket clip is simply disgusting it doesn’t fit the design at all. Check out rike knives, maxace knives, we knives for example...
Chris Kuo Mr. Kuo. How can you honestly tell? These weapons are "pinned"; ... therefore, you cannot break them apart to see "all of these improvements "!
Dude did you see the spyderco mantra 3. That looks like a Sick knife. I bet its going to be 99.99. I hope its a good steel cpm or something goood. Looks like some of my favorite things on that knife. Compression lock Flipper Wire clip deep carry. Great blade shape. and looks Really thin. Man i got to buy that one.
I love how pasionate and humble Eric is. By the way,he is wearing the same GW6900 he wore last year, when he can afford any watch on this planet.Guess G Shock is the Spyderco of watches...
THANK YOU SO MUCH SPYDERCO!! For being the only company who still offers so many four-way and tip-down carry-options! I have small hands and I like big folding knives i.e. I really hate tip-up carry. Have tried and tried it, over and over again, but couldn't get used to it, unfortunately. Unfortunately because 95% of higher-end pocket-knives are strictly tip-up. (This is how I lost my love for ZT completely.) Please keep up that good work! Kind regards from Amsterdam
The Glesser family are geniuses when it comes to knife making and they seem like such genuine and nice people. I love spydies y’all keep up the great work
Over the years Eric has progressed so much, this year he is easily the best presenter and spokesman. The commentary he gives about design direction, production process, materials, and honest cost-benefit decisions is far and away the most interesting and natural thing to come out of Shot Show knife overviews this year. Guess that's what you get with a family owned business where your spokesman is also a co-owner heavily involved in all the backend production.
Cool new offerings! It's easy to see that Eric is excited about what he does. Also, I love his honesty. I think most reasonable knife customers don't expect perfection, especially on new designs. He openly admits that some mistakes were made, and now they're correcting them and moving forward. The CQI motto is very reassuring to hear and is all that can be expected.
Spyderco is an incredible company. Always listening to customer feedback and making improvements. Eric has really become a great presenter and you can tell he loves what he does and love their products. I blame this company for my knife addiction.
I’ll take Spyderco over the others any day. I feel I’ve gotten the most value for the quality of materials and workmanship out of Spyderco over other brands. $75 for an S30V Manix 2 or $105 for a 154cm Mini-Griptilian? I’ll take the Manix 2.
Stxn I agree, none of their designs are fully optimized, hence the iterative design and development process. For example, the police 4 in k390 is an evolution of continuous improvement on past shortcomings. The ability for spyderco to be receptive to feedback and criticisms is a quality others lack (crkt and aus 8 for example). As a mechanical engineer, we learn that the design is never static and certainly never optimized, and humility and maturity is often the key in making good decisions on the next iteration. This iterative process is certainly where spyderco shines, and with any luck you'll have a military 2 in cpm Rex 121 with four position clip option. Cheers,
Stxn an osbourne will never function better than ANY spyderco because benchmade still sends out knives with blade play you would only get on a spyderco if you removed both the pivot and the lock. "Horrible quality control and ridiculous prices" should be Benchmades new slogan.
BurnDuration you spelt Microtech wrong. The knife industry is not measured by the Wal Mart of knife companies, that being Spyderco. Spyderco keeps doing the same shit, over and over again. As far as production knife companies who are a measuring stick, that have real innovations, Microtech has far surpassed Spyderco in many genres and areas. And guess what, they don’t farm their stuff out overseas. Before you know it, the Wal Mart of knife companies will be selling knives in Wal Mart.
100% agree, I was hyped on multiple other big brands and was kind of let down, Spyderco delivered. Gotta love Eric too, been really cool seeing him get better and better at what he does.
I have used a can opener many times over a bottle opener (which are put on EVERYTHING) I'd much rather have a can opener than a bottle opener. Great job spyderco!
I love these new multi blade knifes. Good for spyderco for bringing their blades into a new demention. The rescue tool is awesome I want one for the car. You know that hook blade will slice through a seatbelt like hot butter.
mantra 3 oh yeah probably gonna have m390 or cts204 but dam spyderco killing it in 2018 let's just hope we don't have to wait too long to get these sweet little slicy dicies in our hands. oh yeah and thank you spidie co. for fixing the ball bearing problem and putting some nice thick hardened stainless steel washers for those bearings to ride on.
Oh no that Respect Bowie... I can't tell if I love it or hate it. The lines are so nice and clean... and then there is that HIDEOUS ricasso. And even that adds some sort of quirkiness that is growing on me. The last knife I felt so mixed about was the Spyderco Tuff, and it ended up being my all time favorite knife to this day.
It's 2018 and Spyderco is one of the few companies that hasn't gone from ignoring that tip-up carry exists to ignoring that tip-down carry exists. I swear, I'm so damn tired of seeing new knife models (LOOKING AT YOU, KERSHAW/ZT!) that could easily have a tip-down carry option but don't. All this is telling me that I simply need to buy more Spydercos. Which I will gladly do.
I've been waiting on my Spyderco Mantra 3 forever now from knifecenter feel like they're on backorder and not getting the damn things in for some reason must be Supply in the man
The Amalgam looks nice, just wish it had the deep carry wire clip. The new Mantra looks nice as well. The new Rassenti looks awesome but again might benefit from a deep pocket wire clip. I thought I heard there was a Smock collaboration? I'm most excited to see that knife. Nice work guys.
Any news on the Spyderco Hanan? It was shown at SS 2017 and not sure about a release date. I'm really looking forward to the Hanan and Paysan! Thanks guys!
Southpaw here. Love the new mantra 3- compression lock, deep carry wire clip, thin, g10 carbon fiber sounds cool(never felt it), the blade shape looks very similar to my delica 4 ffg which i love. What i'm trying to poke at here as mentioned at the beginning of my comment...... Spyderco please make a left handed Mantra 3 I beg you! and while i'm at it I might as well ask for a left handed para 3.
Is it possible to move the location of the compression lock so that the flipper knob doesn't bump into your finger when closing these knives? Move it back further to more of a backlock type location? That is the only thing I don't like about the design- the flipper knob bouncing into your finger tip when flipping the blade closed while the compression is being applied. Hmmm....
Why does Spyderco not make a deep carry clip standard? I've heard it's cause there's no demand for it but from what I've read on forums and boards everyone wants it. I love spyderco but until recently i've never carried their larger knives like the para 3 because I hate how much of the handle shows clipped in pocket. Once i got a lynch clip, no problem to carry.
i work in a warehouse and that clipitool would be really useful if i could get one with the can opener AND safety cutter. those are the only tools i really use
Ya know that's why I love spydercos you can tell the people who make them are honest and about as passionate about knives as anybody in the industry. Imagine how boring it must get for most people to talk about the same knives over and over but I haven't seen one interview where Eric or sal weren't completely focused and interested in their product. Been refreshing RUclips all dang day for this!!

Spyderco.. Your improvements are incredible! Thanks for listening to the feedback about the ball bearings and washers!!
Ball bearing SUCKS 👎
- - why? Honest question.
Chris Kuo
Mr. Kuo. How can you honestly tell? These weapons are "pinned"; ... therefore, you cannot break them apart to see "all of these improvements "!
Chris Kuo same ugly shit every year
This is why I love spyderco that having a laugh not hella serious and still make amazing knives
Cans of tuna in Vegas? What circles are you hanging out in?
Eric is the man!
You can tell he has a lot of pride in his work
Dude did you see the spyderco mantra 3. That looks like a Sick knife. I bet its going to be 99.99. I hope its a good steel cpm or something goood. Looks like some of my favorite things on that knife. Compression lock Flipper Wire clip deep carry. Great blade shape. and looks Really thin. Man i got to buy that one.
LiveFreeOrRIP it won't be $99.99 ( I wish) if thats what you're thinking. I dont know what else you could have meant though.
He looks like he had ''tough'' night yesterday :)
I'd love to see the tenacious/persistence with a premium steel blade. Love the knife itself for size but I'd love to see it in s30v or vg10
I love how pasionate and humble Eric is. By the way,he is wearing the same GW6900 he wore last year, when he can afford any watch on this planet.Guess G Shock is the Spyderco of watches...
From all the videos you made until now in shot show, Spyderco showed the best knives in my opinion.
Kind regards from Amsterdam
I met Eric and his Dad Sal at the OR Collectors Show this year. They brought some great prototypes and it was a truly special experience.
I personally love spyderco a lot but I think you should buy the victorinox rescue tool instead
So that’s why their catalog was devoid of any high end. Tricksy Spydercos.
The new Domino will also be on my hit list! Bravo Spyderco!
damm now these news will hurt in the wallet.
Nick they are making our dreams come true. Techno v2 with a sheepsfoot!
There's your Nirvana replacement!
Nick Shabazz I cannot forgive the death of the Slyz Bowie and the Domino...
Love how involved Sal and Eric are with the company.
Thank you for all the great coverage today guys really appreciate it good job
I'm really liking the Brouwer, something about it makes it feel like Spyderco's version of a Small Sebenza.
i dig that too, i would love to see specs and price on that. do you see them anywhere yet?
When this should be possible to buy?
The Glesser family are geniuses when it comes to knife making and they seem like such genuine and nice people. I love spydies y’all keep up the great work
The passion and detail Eric has of his products shows. Spyderco is a great company
Badass stuff as always! What's awesome is that Sal and Eric go out and represent.
Spyderco. Always killing it. That Lil Native will be mine.
Over the years Eric has progressed so much, this year he is easily the best presenter and spokesman. Eric gets so excited talking about knives..makes me like Spyderco even more.
Eric seems like such a stellar guy! So passionate about what his family does. Super cool.
Such an excellent family. Charming, humble with a great sense of fun. Great interview.
Every time you see Eric you can tell this man loves what he does. I love listening to him talk about his products.
Spyderco never dissapoint, love that little EDC with the pumpkin face. I just wish they were more affordable.
Ooh, that XL flipper is right up my alley.
The Mantra 3 looks incredible. I love my sage 5 but I’ve been wanting something with a flipper so this is perfect.
That spyderco lil native serrated is beautiful. Great Self-Defense knife. I need to get one of them.
Spyderco is an incredible company. Always listening to customer feedback and making improvements. Eric has really become a great presenter and you can tell he loves what he does and love their products. I blame this company for my knife addiction.
Spyderco is like Porsche, they always look the same, yet are timeless functional pieces.
Player Review you mean never changing while upping prices while idiots pay for more of the same?
@@cleverkitsune4302 which knife brands do you prefer?
@@frozenturtlefarts1025 i use traditional lockback and slipjoint knives from brands like case, schrade(before taylor bought it) buck
Spyderco is simply the best. Period. Their continuous evolution of design and development is the standard by which this industry is measured.
Lol, benchmade, pro tech, or micro tech is the beat
I’ll take Spyderco over the others any day. I feel I’ve gotten the most value for the quality of materials and workmanship out of Spyderco over other brands. $75 for an S30V Manix 2 or $105 for a 154cm Mini-Griptilian? I’ll take the Manix 2.

That smock looks super cool. I’ve wanted the custom version forever, but couldn’t afford it, yay!
Spyderco makes it up for all the other brands which were mjeh this year. +1 for Spyderco
100% agree, I was hyped on multiple other big brands and was kind of let down, Spyderco delivered. Gotta love Eric too, been really cool seeing him get better and better at what he does.
Spyderco: “We’re not trying to glue handles on.”
Also Spyderco: *puts red lock-tight on everything*
Oh yeah. These Spydies tingle my senses.
And that new Rassenti is so sweet.
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
Love these knives!
The last knife looks very similar to the old griptillan, particularly the blade. Very nice!!
You do such a fantastic job with these interviews Zac, great work! You seem a natural at bringing out the best in these makers/designers.
this is a great idea for spyderco, love spyderco
getting the ray mears spyderco for Christmas, its an awesome design and the perfect backup to my Mora
Great! Love your Shot Show and Blade Show coverage! Excited about the Spyderco knives!
That amalgam is the first Spyderco I want. I hope it doesn't disappoint.
spyderco has done it again.....so much need
Spyderco killin it like always
most exciting new line up so far! i want almost all of those. the new mantra looks awesome
I wish I could look into any of these, but neither Spydeco nor Blade HQ has any of them. Way to go guys!
Love that Respect Bowie! 😍. Would like to see spyderco come out with an OTF
That’s cool
That first flipper might be my first expensive spyderco
I like it too
Love the Brouwer, the pumpkin logo as well!
I have used a can opener many times over a bottle opener (which are put on EVERYTHING) I'd much rather have a can opener than a bottle opener. Great job spyderco!

Some good stuff from Spyderco this year. I’m definitely going to be picking up a Mantra 3 when it is available
Can't wait for this year's meet after seeing these!
Knives of this company can not be confused with anything (I have not got a spider-box in my collection) but the knives are excellent
That new peter ressenti knife looks amazing!
Love the Multi-tool concept, but it looks like a LOT of extra metal/bulk.
Love the Jerry Brower EDC and the Flipper Too, as well as Little Native.
That Rassenti looks amazing! I can’t wait for the Mantra 3 either!
Amazing ... all from the CQI stuff and the new designs ... love the bowie! Awesome!
Use to not like spyderco, now hearing their story and what quality knives they have, I love the company's
Cannot wait for the mantra 3!
When is that coming out? I need one
Henry Qi I wish I knew
What a great guy, again... some beautiful knives.
The clipit tools needs a hunting variant, a Stretch2 style blade for Skinning, the hook from the rescue clipit, and a slotted screwdriver/pry tool
mantra 3 oh yeah probably gonna have m390 or cts204 but dam spyderco killing it in 2018 let's just hope we don't have to wait too long to get these sweet little slicy dicies in our hands. oh yeah and thank you spidie co. for fixing the ball bearing problem and putting some nice thick hardened stainless steel washers for those bearings to ride on.
Mantra 3 😍. Glad they improved the washer issue.
Well done this year guys
awesome, love spyderco blades, can't wait to get my hands on one of these.
AHHHH THE MANTRA THREE IS THE BEST
i am in love with the flippers!!!
Love that Mantra. Eric seems like a good guy. I'd like to see more flippers from Spyderco, down into the lower price brackets.
I was hoping they'd show the new smock model, but the mantra 3 looks pretty nice too.
Nathan Coulombe that’s what I wanna See.. it looks badass
So does the AMALGUM have the upgraded parts mentioned, bigger ball bearings, phospher bronze & thicker ss washers etc???
It's 2018 and Spyderco is one of the few companies that hasn't gone from ignoring that tip-up carry exists to ignoring that tip-down carry exists. If the the Clip It Tools Plain edge blade had a wood saw along with the other tools and it would be a great buy! Very victorinox-esque lol
I like the crooked. I want one with a combo edge, scissors, rescue cutter
I've been waiting on my Spyderco Mantra 3 forever now from knifecenter feel like they're on backorder and not getting the damn things in for some reason must be Supply in the man
Supply and demand**
Omg when is the paysan coming out?!?
When are those clip tools coming to market? I want the rope cutter /screwdriver & pry tool set up but with a non serrated blade
love moving to the swiss army knife style. id love a quality steel knife blade, saw, and a can opener
The Amalgam looks nice, just wish it had the deep carry wire clip. The new Mantra looks nice as well. The new Rassenti looks awesome but again might benefit from a deep pocket wire clip. I thought I heard there was a Smock collaboration? I'm most excited to see that knife.

Can't wait for that Mantra 3 and that Amsterdam Native style one.
Great video; thanks BladeHQ!
At 3:40 Eric finally realizes what that smell is.
That mantra 3..... wowza. May have to splurge on that.
Holy Crap that Spyderco Amalgam! TAKE MY MONEY!
I would really want to hear projected price points and release date estimates
AxleKlown check BladeHQ.com you can preorder it now.
i work in a warehouse and that clipitool would be really useful if i could get one with the can opener AND safety cutter. those are the only tools i really use
on all of these shot show vids I havnt seen near as many deep carry clips as id like to.
