whoever programmed all of these dj controllers and engineered them are incredible. It's amazing technology, truly happy to be alive today to experience it
Imagine doing this back in 1986 when I first learned on turn tables and just a few records it was frustratingly difficult because there was rarely anyone to show you these concepts unless fortunate enough to know of someone through connections and their willing to mentor.
I just wanted to say, you are amazing at explaining how to do all of this!! I have watched a lot of tutorials and I always feel lost, so thank you for simplifying everything!!!
I dont know shit about djing and never saw or touched a dj controller. But i feel like i learned a lot just by watching 2 of your videos. thanks a ton.
Hi Phil! I'm new to djing and I watched a lot of beat matching videos. Many of them had vague and "celebral" explanations and I was struggling. Your tapping trick is a killer. It worked instantly. The feeling of perfectly aligning tracks is finally kicking in with confidence. Thank you; A lot. My comment feels like a paid message but it's not! Keep it up Phil.
I mixing hard techno and many times both track play in this same time. Sometimes 3 minutes you hearing both thats the way is mixing. If you play track one by one with this same BPM like M juice than you just play. Jeff Mills sometimes used four turntables and 4 tracks hearing this same time. If you mixing sometimes both tracks sounds like totally new version.
I really don’t know what I was doing before watching your videos. Now, after watching you for a longer period and putting in much effort, my mixing is still shit, but at least I know how to figure out how to change. Thanks a lot Phil !
So many “basics” videos out there just tell you what it is. They don’t tell you things like how to make sure your audience doesn’t hear you while you do it by pressing the queue button. This is great. Subbed.
seen TONS of DJ-tutorials. YOU ARE THE BEST. You keep all ego out of it,you don't show of and you actually explain things in such a simple clear way i will HAVE to buy your tutorial. Keep up the good work.THANK YOU.
So simple and very well explained. Thank you Phil. I will continue to watch your videos during my journey. Then when i get big, i’ll be sure to shout you out. You have the best informative Dj videos on youtube ive came across and dont feel the need to look any further ♡
I wanted to purchase your dj course but your website is so misleading. It tells your the course is $260 but you can get it for $37 if you purchase within 15 mins. Then after you put all of your CC info, your taken to another pages that says you can add advanced course for another $57. I opted to not purchase and still got charged.
You’re so good and articulate. Excellent content for learning how to Beat match. Even though it’s the basics, i learned and i gained confidence to DJ. Thanks brother 🤙
I want to Mix My own DnB and they are both 180 bpm but getting them in time is different. Should I make a cupple of basic beats that are dance or house and learn and practice syncing?
Please, can you explain why you count 5 before you play the next song that makes me confused, it's really hard for me to beatmatching, first I thought the line must be blended with each other
Except that he never fully beat matched anything in this video. Lol Im confused. 6:54 There's still a delay happening between both drum tracks, same as with all the other examples he gave.
Please if you are going to give lessons, Please make sure you put your crossfader in the middle. This one of 2 video's of yours I have looked at and your crossfader is not in the middle but you have sound coming from both sides when playing the music.
How did you get your record box interface to be like that? Like you are in 2 deck horizontal but your waveforms is below the decks in rekordbox. I would like my interface to look like that but I am not sure how to do it
Hi! I might be late, but I’ll still try! I have a question. So I’m planning to buy the exact dj console, with some dm 40 speakers from pioneer! And I reckon it would be a good setup! Help me with anything, I don’t want to waste my money! Let’s say I have 700-800 pounds budget!
This is a really good video. You have a lot of good tutorials. I wouldn't worry Bout the people down below that have stupid things to say about your videos and such. You have great tutorials and for a self started you can tell that you went through trial and error to develop your skills. Good job and keep it up and keep the videos coming.
I don’t have a mixer but I’ve got this app that I use to mix songs and It’s quite difficult to beat match songs cuz I have to set one song the same tempo you get it and it’s even more annoying mixing Oldskool bouncy techno that’s a nightmare I’ve gotten better tho
My waveform do not change it form, can increase the tempo but the actual waveform do not change, so can't beat match at all, even trying only with the ear. Someone had this issue before? im using a DDJ 1000SRT
Your RUclips entries are wonderful. I'm a bedroom DJ since October 2018 and still not comfortable to go and perform in public. When playing dance tracks, Is it better to drop it on the ONE or beat match or both???
Mix it up! Don't be predictable. Watch videos on different transitions! I am a deep house fan and like hearing the new beats come together slowly before splitting off to the new track. Practice and believe in yourself! You can do it!
Wow thanks. been used to mixing with turntables... this got me into really trying with my Denon DJ board. Very useful information. Well played (pardon pun)
He has four channel mixer. The crossfader can be set to fade across any two of these channels; or to no channels at all. He must have it set to no channels.
He's using a MacBook Pro by Apple. This is the very best one to have for dj-ing. With the HP 250 g6 you can get away with it, but I would have 2 on -hand because you may experience more freez-ups with them.
Literally the best teacher! I’m watching this on my tv, but had to get on my phone and comment, bc I’m learning so much from your vids. Thank you so much!!🤍
Nice work breaking it down slowly and with the fundamentals! I just posted my first video on beat matching and came across your video. Great to see more djs sharing the love.

be better been alive in the future
Yo, I said the same thing. I was like how TF they come up with this shit. Lol
I just wanted to say, you are amazing at explaining how to do all of this!! I have watched a lot of tutorials and I always feel lost, so thank you for simplifying everything!!!
NO worries. Thanks for your feedback!
Cool hey

Had my controller for over a year and im close to giving it up..Phil keeps me motivated
Geddon mate

You explain so well. I had classes a long time ago.
I'd like to say that the 1st step isn't the speed. It would be making sure your beat grid is properly lined up within the song.
seen TONS of DJ-tutorials. YOU ARE THE BEST. You keep all ego out of it,you don't show of and you actually explain things in such a simple clear way i will HAVE to buy your tutorial. Keep up the good work.THANK YOU.
thanks man! That's awesome!
You are really good explaining everything again and again.Thank you.
So simple and very well explained. Thank you Phil. I will continue to watch your videos during my journey. Then when i get big, i’ll be sure to shout you out. You have the best informative Dj videos on youtube ive came across and dont feel the need to look any further ♡
Hows your journey going? :D
Phil does the Dummies Guide of DJing. Where begginer truly means beginner. So if that's what you are, you're in the right place.
Going over this with my homie today since we both got ddj sb3's.....lol awesome video
What is your monitor size and brand and watts? Thank you bro
geez no one taught me i learned on a pair of 1200s in the 80s, but a great video
Awesome practice for begginers👍
All the tutorials I have seen of your are so helpful; thank you for explaining in simple and descriptive terms💜💜💜
Thank you for all your help ☺️☺️💪🏻
Thank you. You explain very well
whats the settings for mashup so they match up would it be possible to do a video if possible
Wow ! If I understood English perfectly, I would buy your course immediately

does the cue button work as a tempo tapper?
how to beat match - hits auto-sync function.
thats great when youre playing drunk lol
@ i feel you just gave me the justification I needed lol
Thats the problem. Sorry i dont respect a dj that hits sync. Plus if you want to be a real Dj u wont be playing on a controler at a festival.
All it does it lock the bpm, it doesn't auto line it up lol
@@GrantedBunion true
Thank you....beat matching.....you said it...I did it...I now have it...thank you
Really appreciate the help man 👍 just trying to get a head start on what I need to know when my DDJ-400 arrives! Can’t wait 🤞
Do you always have to beatmatch?
Even if you dont want to do a transation where both songs are playing at the same time
As always, everything is super. Waiting for new crack from your team
Thank Phil 🙏🏻 learned how to beat match from you. Also, taught some friends
your teachings are very well understanding, subscribed already ...
Amazing!! What controller are you using? I got a numark platinum
I saw one of his own ads on his video and thought it was the actual video
You’re so good and articulate.
Excellent content for learning how to Beat match. Even though it’s the basics, i learned and i gained confidence to DJ.
Thanks brother 🤙
this is actually the best beat matching tutorial have watched. you're awesome
Vesh M. What music do you mix?
Afro beat music, rock and a Lil bit of rnb
@@vee6668 lool, just starting aswell. Decent tutorial. And I intend to mix afro, rap, drill and eventually House music!
This is great, thank you!

Is that the pioneer dj 400?
Please, can you explain why you count 5 before you play the next song that makes me confused, it's really hard for me to beatmatching, first I thought the line must be blended with each other
Thank you so much 😊
What type of board is this?
thank you for the tutorial. It is very useful for the beginners like me. please keep up the good work
You are the best mate what dj controller is that?
Except that he never fully beat matched anything in this video. Lol Im confused. 6:54 There's still a delay happening between both drum tracks, same as with all the other examples he gave.

Hey phill thanks a lot now i know how to beat matching..........
Great work . Upload more videos.
Hello Phil I am a big fan, btw I was wondering what software's you most recommend me for Windows 10?
Is the first track only in the left ear and the second in the right or are they always on at the same time?
This is a really good video. You have a lot of good tutorials. I wouldn't worry Bout the people down below that have stupid things to say about your videos and such. I get add about you, while already watching your videos 😁
Thanks for making this video
What keeps the pitch from lowering or raising from changing the tempo of the song? Especially with commercial songs with lyrics, etc.
There's a button called key lock on most boards. You can turn it on or off
My waveform do not change it form, can increase the tempo but the actual waveform do not change, so can't beat match at all, even trying only with the ear.
Someone had this issue before?
im using a DDJ 1000SRT
Subscribed. You're amazing. Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you. Glad they help!

Thanks for the nice tutorial... good teaching skills, greatly appreciated. I'll check out your course too.
Can I achieve all this with just a Dj software, I mean without a controller?
Noo lol 😂
Nice vid! You know how it feels to be a beginner.. i mean a beginner beginner!
Thank you !!!
Wow thanks. been used to mixing with turntables... this got me into really trying with my Denon DJ board. Very useful information. Well played (pardon pun)
which controler is that
How about dubstep
What camera are you using??
Thanks for the video!
Does a massive gold watch help when beatmatching? ;)
It does go a long way
Thank you
I've noticed your crossfade is set to the left deck, how come are both decks are playing?
He has four channel mixer. The crossfader can be set to fade across any two of these channels; or to no channels at all. He must have it set to no channels.
What is your laptop model? And do you think HP 250 g6 is a good laptop for djing?
He's using a MacBook Pro by Apple. This is the very best one to have for dj-ing. With the HP 250 g6 you can get away with it, but I would have 2 on -hand because you may experience more freez-ups with them.
solavarria1 as long as the laptop runs thing smoothly
yo anyone else thinks this dude sounds exactly like Maurice moss from IT crowd
Exactly 😆
Can you show me how a tolet works too
