Been there done that. I was a Chief Engineer there in the early 60's doing what is now called the Deadliest Catch. We tied up at Ballyhoo dock with the Theresa Lee. I have hiked up the mountain as well. Great memories.
4:57... ahhhh! That bow picker is part of the A boats. I fished on the Arctic Sea in 1980. It was a stern picker. The North Sea is the third boat. We were highliners back then. I wonder if these guys are still on top.
You need to go to Edmond near Seattle WA where there is there headquarter and submit an App and will call you back on the spot, if your criminal record is clear and succeed the drugtest. Good luck May Allah guide me and you !
If you do don't wear make up. We used to predict who would cave in and go back home when I worked at Pac Pearl in Captain's Bay. When you're butchering and gilling you get splewy all over everything. But then that was thirty years ago. It's probably different now. Most of the chicks that wear make up usually go home early. hee hee...
@@friedgizzard I'm going to travel up to Dutch Harbor in 2022. Just need to figure out how to get there and what gear I need to bring and how much money I need to take.
Can anybody tell me why Dutch Harbour is called ""Dutch Harbour""? Was it a Dutch tradingpost? Meaby from the famous WIC-compagny? Was there some Dutch involvement in calling Dutch Harbour ""Dutch Harbour""? 🙋
Ok, I have asked alot of people and no one that i have spoken to knows for sure. Everyone thinks that the Dutch were the first traders to come here to trade with Russians for seal and otter pelts. Apparently Unalaska Bay is the is the bay that they traded in, and it is the side of the island that Dutch Harbor is on.
@@friedgizzard Thank you, but I now know the real story. The bay of ""Dutch Harbor"" was first discovered by a Russian captain of a Russian ship around 1770-1780. But the Dutch were so famous and worldwide known for their voyagers, the Russian captain thought ""this bay must be discoverd first by the Dutch"" and named it ""Dutch Harbor"". I found this answer on the German Wikipedia.
@@hollandmeester347 Of course the Germans would screw things up when it comes to the Russians. The entire Aleutian Chain was 'discovered' by a Russian expedition Great Northern Expedition which (the Second Kamchatka Expedition) out of Kamchatka in 1733. The leader of the expedition was a Danish explorer and map maker. Almost everything out there was named for him; his name was Vitus Bering. His expedition was responsible for naming Dutch Harbor. So your story is not only 40 years late, it neglects the true leader of the expedition.

Rob it's a run off pipe from one of the processing plants...DURING clean ups of the plants they have sea water pumped in and they use it to clean the floors and machines to get rid of fish scales, pieces of meat, guts whatever, then the water simply drains back into the bay, then the machines are sanitized and wiped clean....
Spectacular! Thanks for sharing a snippet of Dutch Harbor.
Wow...the Northwestern...Legend!

I would like to stay here for a month or two. Something about it draws me too it.
Dutch Harbor has the strange ability to do that. Even in the dead of winter with huge snow drifts and little sunlight it is a pretty awesome place.

I am not sure what it is connected to, but it is about a 12" pipe going from land into the water.
+Fried Gizzard The Cornelia Marie was extended. Not the Northwestern.
@@adamriffe3520 Wrong answer - both were lengthened. The Northwestern twice from 108' to 125'. And the Cornelia from 95' to 125'.
I lived there for 4 years
I was up there for 6. I did lots of carpentry up there and made a shitload of $$$. Not a place for the weak of heart.
