That was so freaking cool!!! I cannot wait to start making my own pendants!!!!
This stuff is so cool, I want to use it for metal trim on cosplay armor.
wonderful lesso. Thanks

Wow amazing new Subbie!!!
+CoolToolsVideos Mardel used to recommend "buttering" BRONZclay with Slik while conditioning the clay. I've always found that to work well and to improve the consistency of the clay. Has the thinking on this changed? Thanks in advance for your reply!
+Margaret Schindel
Hi Margaret.... Adding SLIK is still good practice! We like to offer options. Have a great weekend!
+CoolToolsVideos Thanks for your response. Have a great weekend yourself!
This is fascinating! Yet another hobby my wallet will hate 🤣
How strong is the piece after it's fired? Is this strong enough to be used to make custom buckles? I have half a dozen designs I've put off trying to make because I don't want to do tin casting. If it's possible to make the buckles from this, I'm all set!
Hello, metal clay can be treated similarly to any other metal, but it is more porous than standard sheet metal. Because of this, you would want to make sure it is designed properly to stand up to the rigors of a belt buckle. If the buckles are thick enough, it should not be a problem to use metal clay!
Thank you for that - what patina gel are you using here?
Neena Shilvock Hi Neena, I used our Patina Gel. If your interested in this product here is the link: www.cooltools.us/Patina-Gel-Stabilized-Liver-of-Sulfur-s/501.htm Have a great day!
Thank you, I hadn't realised that liver of sulfur works on bronzclay
Is it possible to torch fire this brand of bronze clay?
+Poe Bird
According to Bill Struve, the inventor of BRONZClay, this type of clay can be torch fired, but he does not recommend it. His recommendation and claim is that kiln firing bronze (and all other metal clays, for that matter) results in a superior end result ie a fully sintered product. Torch firing is possible, but can often lead to objects that are porous and not as strong as they w
ould be by torch firing.
CoolToolsVideos Thank you very much for replying! I am ordering a kiln from you guys this week :)

Hi, where I can buy that carbon? It’s normal carbon?
Hello, this is activated carbon. You can find it here: cooltools.us/search?type=product&q=%22carbon+firing+media%22
I only have a brass brush. Do I need a steel brush or will brass do? Thanks!
Hi Lori, either is fine!
Will a beehive kiln work with a wire mesh for the piece to sit on?
Hi Gerald, the beehive kiln will not work with base metal clays. The ceramic insert is needed for firing silver clays - the wire mesh would not be suitable. If you ever have any questions we are always happy to help!
Hello I'm thinking of getting this kit but I haven't got a kiln can I use a beginner kiln I don't think you use the carbon stuff with them tho can I still do this in one of those ? Thanks
Hi Jo, you will need a muffle or brick kiln to fire any base metal clays. If you have any other questions, you can always call us at 888-478-5060, or email at sales@cooltools.us
I so want to do thid, but don't have a kiln. Can this be fired with a torch?
Hi Beatrice, BRONZclay needs to be kiln fired. We do sell table top kilns that are perfect for firing metal clay. We always like to recommend the Evenheat Kingpin 88: www.cooltools.us/Evenheat-Kingpin-88-p/kln-971-p.htm
Hope this helps!
I'm new to this. So after its fire it just turns to silver or bronze or gold?
Hi Darrel, you are correct. During firing, binder in the clay is burned away and the metal particles sinter into a solid form. Our Learning Center is a great resource: www.cooltools.us/Metal-Clay-s/2330.htm
Always feel free to reach out to us too, we're happy to help!
Is there some reason you can't wear nitrile gloves when working with this clay? I see people putting different sorts of goo on their hands but haven't seen anyone wears gloves.
Hello, you can certainly wear nitrile gloves while working with this clay. The reason most artists do not is because they want to be able to really feel the clay while working with it.
Thank you very much for your answer.
Can you use a torch if you don't have a kiln??
According to Bill Struve, the inventor of BRONZClay, this type of clay can be torch fired, but he does not recommend it. His states that kiln firing bronze (and all other metal clays, for that matter) results in a superior end result ie a fully sintered product. Torch firing is possible, but can often lead to objects that are porous and not as strong. Thank you for your question!
is it 1500 farenheit or celsious ?
Farenheit :)
do you have to paint a finish on bronze to stop it making the neck green or discolored when wearing it for several days and sweat. My daughter won't wear bronze necklaces because of this reason. Her pierced ears get red when she wears bronze wires in her ears. What do you suggest?
Hi Barbara, Renaissance Wax is a great product for preserving bronze. It forms a durable, transparent protective coating that will not discolor. You can find it here: www.cooltools.us/Renaissance-Wax-Polish-2-25oz-p/pol-820.htm
Can this type of metal clay not be fired with a butane torch?
Also if a kiln is needed is there a more inexpensive type that can be used with this type of metal clay. The type you are using is a pretty expensive kiln. I have seen others that are more inexpensive, but I just wanted to know what you , yourself would recommend. Thank in advance.
Hi Julie, we recommend firing BRONZclay in a kiln. The cheapest option for a kiln - with limited space inside and a maximum temperature of 1600°F when using the flat cover is the Ultralite Beehive Kiln. You can find this kiln here: www.cooltools.us/Ultra-Lite-Beehive-Kiln-p/kln-701-p.htm?1=1&CartID=0
Other more inexpensive options for kilns that are bigger and that reach higher temperatures are the Evenheat Kingpin 88 and Paragon SC2 kilns. These ship free within the U.S.
For the Evenheat Kingpin 88: www.cooltools.us/Evenheat-Kingpin-88-p/kln-971-p.htm
Paragon SC2: www.cooltools.us/Paragon-SC2-Kiln-p/kln-101-p.htm
Thank you so much
@@cooltoolsvideosaving followed your link to the beehive kiln as you recommended...the site says that this kiln is only good for silver clay is the description wrong because I would like to aquire some sort of kiln that does ALL metal clays, thank you
@@dennyroeser7542 That is correct, the Beehive Kiln can only fire silver clays. We recommend the Kingpin 88 for a kiln to fire all metal clays. This is a tabletop kiln that does not take too much space, and is fairly priced. You can find it here: www.cooltools.us/Evenheat-Kingpin-88-p/kln-971-p.htm
The pendant is bent. Why did that happen?
Hi Kai, distortion of a piece can happen during firing. You can hammer this out once the piece is fired. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a way to avoid it? (I have pieces which cant be hammered or even rolled again)
