- This is a video of the LMI or Computer in the Tadano 180g-5. This footage was recorded during a 100,000 lb pick. In the video you will be able to see the different parameters changing in real time as I move the machine to different positions.
Jimmy it's on the same panel but not the same screen. It's straight above the top of the boom .it's got a green, yellow and red line in it. Thanks Jimmy
Andy B, ahhhhhh.... the small screen on top. That screen shows a few things...while picking, it shows the capacity as a bar graph, it sometimes shows boom configuration, sometimes shows main system pressure, etc.. It is all dependent on what I am doing. Thanks for asking a great question. 👍
@@ToTheTopCrane Hey thanks Jimmy!!
All right Jimmy!
Been waiting for a new adventure from you, this is extremely interesting material...Great presentation showcasing your "operator excellence" for sure..
It's fascinating to see all the info your process during a pick and the fact you never sound stressed in any way. I know you say you're concerned about heavy picks, but you sure sound composed at all times.
Much respect for your expertise in a highly specialized trade, 2 thumbs up from here.
Hope you and your family had a very joyous Christmas and Happy New year going forward! Work safe, stay warm, I'm watching here, love this stuff!
Doug@ the "ranch"
Doug, many thanks! We had a fantastic Christmas. Hope you all did as well. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
That was definitely a different look❗️ Very interesting how you did that. Always coming up with something‼️‼️👍
Mark Mortensen, I try to mix things up. I don't want you all getting bored with me. Lol. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
That was great being able to watch that screen thank Jimmy.
barry hansen, I wasn't sure if everyone would like it or not. I just wanted to include something different. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@@ToTheTopCrane I thought about asking you to show that after I visited the place the T-Shirt came from as that is what I enjoyed the most while inside the crane and the amount of information that it can give maybe you can show all the screens you can pull up.
@@barryhansen6854, I'll do it! Thanks for the great video idea. 👍
That is a fun format, thanks for posting!
tdej80, thank you, and thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Jimmy, this perspective is interesting and quiet useful. Thanks for making this video!
David Sonnen, I wasn't sure how it would go over. It's another one of those things I see every day, and probably take for granted. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@@ToTheTopCrane I think that modern LMI systems are both important and useful. Not many folks have even heard of them. Your video makes LMI capabilities clear.
I really enjoyed watching the screen. Can you tell me what the other screen above the big one was. Thank you Jimmy looking forward to the next one my friend.
Andy B, thank you! Also, can you tell me what time in the video the other screen is that you are curious about? Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
That cable stretches more than I thought. Learn something new every video.
Jimmy's Tractor, it's not the cable stretching. It's the deflection of the boom and carrier chassis. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@@ToTheTopCrane oh, that makes more sense.
Another interesting perspective.
Do you always have that screen in place to keep an eye on the cable drum? Is that to make sure the cable stays lined up? What can you do to prevent this and recover from it?
So many questions! Thanks for sharing.
jix177, that screen is always there. I use it for a few things. The first one is to keep an eye on the rope (cable) to make sure it isn't laying wrong. Second, I use it at times, to be very accurate with the winch control. Great question, thanks for asking. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Cool when the shadow of the load passed over the computer screens
David Rigoni, I'm glad the shadows did move around. Otherwise you all might have not even realized that I was moving. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Smooth pick I bet. Held your radius well
Thanks for the video on the control panel Jimmy! So I have a couple of questions, First, does the electronics of the crane have lockouts for when you get too close to overload? I assume that they will beep and buzz at you when you get close, but will the crane lockout and only allow you to put the load down when you reach the maximum capacity? Also does the electronics contain a data recorder like in aircraft to record your picks in case of accident?
Another video idea for you might be on the draw works and how it operates. On the larger cranes I have seen brake drums, bands and linkages to the crane cab, and I don't see any of that on yours. A short video on how the hydraulic crane draw works would be pretty interesting stuff.
matt lee, it does infact shut down the hoist up, boom down and telescope when it gets to capacity. It also does data log information when it gets past 90%. Great questions, and thanks for the video ideas. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
If you are set up to do multiple lifts exactly the same. Can it be programmed to do it all automatically? Thanks for another good video and alot of great comments as well...
Wayne Tharp, the only automation in the crane is the "Lift Adjuster" function. It is a function that can be activated, which compensates for boom deflection as a pick is being made. However, I don't use it. Anything you see being lifted, is me moving the controls. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
@@ToTheTopCrane Do you see cranes following the auto industry? The next new one may parallel park itself! lol Thank you for all the great videos this year!
Hi Jimmy how are you, I read every comments, seems like everyone had already ask everything hehe well the video was great one question with 100k lbs and boom at 71.9 feet what would be the minimum boom degree to safe work with and one more thing, how can we calculate the Cross load capacity deduction if we had a fix jib on the boom am sorry if the question is wrong. am learning a lot from your videos bro believe me thank you so much for dedicating your time on this.
People ask, "why are you always looking at that box?" I just tell them it's a computer, but not how it's what makes me look like a genius!
be nice if my palfinger had an LMI sometimes. I have a few lights that indicate capacity starting at 50% and then get an alarm at 90% and a lockout at 100%
in the 1970s we had a fire bell for a a2b only lol.
SovietRefusnik1 Golem, a fire bell would be better than nothing I suppose. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Sir, I'm your new subscriber. I'm also a soon gonna be lifting inspector. I have a question, if you want to conduct a load test (120% at particular working radius) do you turn off/bypass the LMI first? For critical lifting inspection. Sorry for the grammar, I'm not a native English speaker. Thanks a bunch.
Very cool. How much did they tell you this lift would weigh?
Thanks for the peek at the end.
walter mattson, I was told 105k lbs or slightly less. The manufacturer was pretty darn close on this one. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
To The Top Crane for once they were close!!!! Lol
@@richardsavaglio661, that's no kidding! It seems most of the time, people are way off on the weights. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Is there another screen or menu that shows how much weight is on each out rigger?? I seem to remember it from previous videos.
Troy Ackerman, there is another screen that shows how much weight is on each outrigger. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Cool vid jimmy!!
Rogue Excavating, thank you, and thanks for watching! 🙂👍
What were the limits of picking over the rear? Was that 130k set for the rear?
anthony woodfin, the load charts for this crane are 360°. So, in that configuration, it would pick 130k regardless of where I was turned to. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Is the 130K that you are safe for at all boom angles at 71.9' of extension, From 0° to 90°?
It doesn't seem to change as your angle and distance changes with the same extension.
That's a lot of drive shafts for one vehicle lol.
Are you on crane nuts?
It doesn't show how many parts per line
No wind that’s weird lol
