- This is how you can repair your power fold mirror on 2007-2013 gmt900 Chevrolet GMC pickup truck without the need for any parts. If your mirror clicks or tries to move than this should work for you. No parts needed just some tools and a little patience.
I took my Escalade to the DEALER they wanted $1500.00 to put on a NEW MIRROR I purchased the NEW MOTOR OFF EBAY for $200.00 THE DEALER SIDE HUSTLER wanted to charge ME $800.00 to install the new MOTOR I WATCHED YOUR VIDEO AND INSTALLED THE MOTOR MYSELF WITH MY NEIGHBOR AND HIS WIFE AND KIDS WATCHING AND IT WENT ON SO EASILY. THANK YOU!!!!
That's awesome that after completing the job, you tore it apart AGAIN just to show us!
Amazing talent for explaining! Thanks a lot for your time and sharing this video! 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
"Oh, I forgot one more thing". GEEZ !!!!! This guy is the Columbo of auto repair.
I just went outside and moved my mirrors vigorously out and in out and in and I manhandled it till it started working . It took about 5 minutes of back-and-forth and they both are working now
The engineering of this mirror setup is absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to try to fix mine very soon. Thanks for your help!!
Thank you for posting this very helpful how-to. Was able to figure out what was broke on my 2008 Avalanche passenger side mirror. Part ordered and hopefully will be back to fully functional shortly!!
I appreciate the video! Just picked up an 07 Suburban that is having the same issue with the D/S mirror. Will try this fix out and let you know.
You are amazing! Thank you so much.
Crazy engineering for a mirror! Appreciate the video!
Great video, thx for making it. I have an 07 Escalade & the mirror just stopped working. Plan on getting either a donor mirror & or the guts from online. Again, thx for an outstanding detailed video.
Thank you very much!! Video was extremely helpful. Just bought an 07 Tahoe and the passenger side mirror would not move. Followed you instructions and now it’s like new, with only my time spent!!
Was the motor making any noise before you took it apart or was it quiet?
@@goodgollyjosh nope. No noise, it would move just enough to get the small amount of slack out and stop. The mechanism that’s held together with that big spring was froze up. Cleaned it up and regressed everything and it works like new. I did find that the plastic gear on the worm gear is cracked but it is still meshing ok.
Just did my driver side 2011 Avalanche in Canada, eh? Great instruction video. Mine was rusted at the top of the hole where the wires come through, where the casing and the inner tube meet (normally the motor casing rotates and the inner tube assembly is part of the frame (mounted using the torx 20 screws). So, I eventually released the motor casing (prying and WD40). Once I cleaned and greased where the casing tube and the frame tube meet, I didn’t need to take the gearbox assembly apart. Tested it back on the motor connector to make sure. Put it all back together and it works great now.
Great video really helpful good job explaining everything step by step
great video was exact how to take apart. Only mine had a broken plastic gear. put it back together and may get a gear. One thing when i put the spring together it was not all the way set and that lock ring and washer let loose and took off like a rocket. hit the roof of my garage and found the spring and the ring was way up in the rafters surprised i found it. Used a little camera to look up in the eves . just be careful thanks again for the video.
chris that spring is definitely powerful and under load! It’s the most precision part of the job. Thanks for watching.
Wow, very nice video, and good explanation for each part, gonna start on mine in next ten minutes
Interesting technique but I decided to just replace the whole unit to get the new motor too. Just the glass had broken off but the thing is 10 yrs old.
I just did my mirror using gruven parts to replace the motor and the gears. No more issues
Did you grind the bottom flange so when someone hits the mirror it kicks back-and-forth easier without any pressure also it helps to go to move in and out with better ease

Great video and very informative...! I have a 07 Ext Escalade and the mirror on the drivers side will fold in and out and the adjustment on the right to left works however the adjustment on the up and does nothing... any ideas?
Skillful, thanks homeboy.
Mine is not moving at all. I am going to take it apart and see what is broken. Do you know if they sell the gears for this?
Outstanding work thank you for this video
I've had mine apart twice but could never get to the motor. Going to try once more. Your video explains it pretty good. I never got that far. LOL
Just need to keep prying around the casing (4 points) enough to get clearance between the assembly and cover. Mine was rusted all around at the top (where wires come through), preventing withdrawing the casing to expose the motor inside. WD40 and a trick with opening up the swaged tube top with a screwdriver then pushing the inner tube down, with a socket on an open vise did it.
easy to do i used a 24m socket and a C clamp with a small board under the unit so easy
Wow, nice work
I had another issue and had to use you video again. What you provided is amazing and I wanted to be sure to say thank you this time !!!
Very good,
.....thanks
Great video
Sorry, I know this is 4years late... but when taking cover off motor, there are also 4 tabs on the black motor "plug" on the top of the system.
Damn good video, man !
Wow. Awesome video. Very thorough.
Can you replace the gears if they are broken?
This video was so helpful thanks to this video I was able to fix my power mirrors on my 2008 Chevy LTZ
I had to change the gear,it was plastic and broken, I put in an alloyed gear in, put it back together, all inside gears lined up sat into the crevices where they belong, put it back together and it will not rotate the mirror, once inserting the tension spring, seems to put too much pressure, the motor turns on but will not turn the housing.
Молодец 👍✌️
GOOD VIDEO
شكرا على المجهود
great video, thank you
I've tried your fix by replacing my broken plastic gear with metal gear. Once I tested it, the motor went to the closed position and want open back up. Can you shed a little lite on what may be wrong? I made sure the gears properly meshed.
Ever get this fix? I noticed there was a type of ground problem with my mirrors. When ever I mounted them they would not work but once I took them off the side mirror mount and left it hanging off the wires it would work. I gave up trying to figure it out
@@dougcastle1785this. There's videos explaining how to move some tabs around to fix the grounding issue.
Just in case anyone runs across this on a 2010 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid. The motor was riveted in place. I ended up just replacing the whole mirror.
Since the electric folding of the right outside mirror didn't work because of a defective gear, I replaced it with a new one. Unfortunately, only the collapse works. Electricity arrives at the plug when I switch. The mirror is also much heavier than the one on the driver's side. It feels like it snaps first, moves and snaps back in ... 2x click. Could it be that I inserted the inner rings incorrectly?
I was seeing when replacing with metal gears it grounds out... to fix that issue have to push the tabs in on the motor itself
@@bigcurt011 Thank you! that must be why GM put plastic gears in there because when you go to mount it grounds out. Did pushing in the tabs on the motor actually worked?
Great
Lol. I did this, & when I got all the way to compressing the spring, I took it out to look at why it didn't release, the spring pop off & the lock washer that was holding the spring flew over into my neighbors yard. I never found it. 😨
Sorry but that is hilarious 😂
I can hear it trying like the motor but nothing ever happens
WHELP LOOKS LIKE I WILL B PUSING MINE OPEN AND CLOSED FOR NOW ON.
😁👍☕
