The Battle that happened in this actually happened a few days after the official end of the War of 1812. News had not reached the commanders in this theater yet.
This is because the world of 200 years ago did not have computers, internet, email, texting, cellphones, TV, radio, and the many communication technologies of the 21st Century that we take for granted today, that cause news to travel around the world in a split second.
Funny thing about this battle is that the war was officially over already but because the fastest form of communication back then was letters carried on horseback, the news couldn't reach the commanders in time before they started fighting.
It is SOOO strange to think now that the Battle of New Orleans is an Extension of the Napoleonic Wars. Us Americans got rekt on the waters, but our attacks on the other two theatres were of relative success. Tecumseh did not see that one coming. Too bad.
@@tuckerbock7509 that wasn't stopping the British from invading... didn't stop their Navy from a 2nd attempt up the Mississippi the next day...which the 7th US Infantry stopped...and it wouldn't stop the 3rd attempt in mid Feb through Monile...which Jackson's department was ready for again...and the occupation of a Georgia coastal fort in March.
