    I remember watching Gabi blast Eren’s head off and think “Damn what a good episode” thinking that with everything that had happened before it had already been 25 minutes of the show, so that would be the cliffhanger, but it was only the first half of the episode, and the second half just went ham. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. It was crazy.

  • @DimaQxt

    It's funny that after watching these exact 3 episodes, it's basically 100% worth it to rewatch the whole series again and pick up on the minor details that have been scattered throughout from beginning on.
    One funny detail for example is that at 20:17 where Grisha is standing in the door frame before leaving, he stares right at future Eren (unfortunately you've cut out that specific scene).
    In the very first chapter of the manga, you can see that he does that as well. Standing there and just weirdly staring into nothingness (because we obviously can't see future Eren yet).
    But when this scene got animated back in S1E1, even Studio Wit missed out on that and slightly changed that scene and didn't bother about that detail, because at this point in time nobody except for the manga author himself, knew where this story is going to move into. Not even the animating studio themselves.
    Also, to explain further how this "Grisha is staring at Eren from the future" works:
    The power of the Attack Titan is to see memories from future inheritors, right? But more importantly, the ability is also to be able to show past inheritors your current memories as you like.
    So basically, while Eren was inside of Grisha's memories, there are moments where Grisha knew that both Eren and Zeke were there watching him. That's because right in these moments, Eren willingly sent his memories of exactly this moment to Grisha. So you have to imagine that every time Grisha knew that Eren is there with him (for example where he was in that door frame), he saw himself out of a 3rd perspective - through Eren's own eyes. And every time Grisha knew that Zeke was there with him, it was only because Zeke was in the line of sight of Eren as well. So all of that is only possible because Eren could give Grisha glimpses of what he is currently seeing through his own eyes.
    That's also how this whole "Eren manipulating his father into killing the royal family" worked out. When Eren spoke directly to Grisha, Grisha saw himself through Eren's eyes but obviously could hear Eren's words, because Eren wanted Grisha to see and hear the memories of this exact moment.

      At the end of S3, when Kruger is explaining the founding and attack titans to Grisha, you get a brief glimpse of Eren atop the walls explaining the same things to Kruger. Eren was always the one in control, and that fact was hiding in plain sight, even in S3.

      Interesting fact though: We don't actually know that the Attack on Titan's power is to see future inheritors, at least not natively to use it as a base, rather that could be the consequence of the Attack Titan coming in contact with the Founding Titan. In theory, there's no reason it wouldn't have worked with any of the other titans. This is why the royal family has no idea what Grisha is talking about, because Grisha is just reasoning what he knows and he's the only (un)reliable source of info we have. The power of memories is the Founding Titan's power, so whichever titan got to it there's nothing really denying they would've gotten the ability to see the future too, granted Ymir listened to them.

  • @deeegeeekay
    @deeegeeekay 5 месяцев назад +50

    If you’re confused how the time stuff works, Eren basically sent memories to his father that he later was able to see with the Attack Titan’s power when he kissed Historia, leading him down the path for those memories to be sent in the first place. That’s why Kruger knew Mikasa and Armin, and why the Attack Titan has been claimed to strive for freedom since the beginning. Because Eren influenced it all.

    I love watching reactors see AOT for the first time, it's one of my favourite things to do when I have the chance because it really is the show that just keeps on giving to it's audience. I do remember there was one time though, I was watching this couple and at some point I just had to ask myself why I was still watching them because they were so _negatively_ critical of every little aspect of the series and they even ended up dropping the show in the last stretch because it made them tackle their own biases. It was extremely disappointing. One of their big issues with the show as a whole especially was the wait time for answers, they just had no patience for payoff and it really kind of put into perspective this issue we in this era all have with immediate gratification. It kind of pulled me back and reminded me of when I was a kid watching the tv and how often shows would start over mid season and I remembered being frustrated by that - some shows I never found out the ending to until I was nearly an adult - but I still had it in me to wait. That's just something so many people don't have these days, including me! It took seeing these people actually get _really_ angry over a simple show to put that in perspective for me, and I've started practicing patience again since then.
    This ramble is all to say that I really really appreciate Attack on Titan for making the choice to wait - for putting all it's answers at the very end of the show. The story aside, the wait time for the final season was _insane_ for any person who started watching AOT when it first released (2013) even longer if they were reading (2009). I'm kind of glad it happened like that though. It just went to show that the pay off for a little patience can be really worth it and I feel like we all need to learn to _be_ patient again. To trust the process and just soak in the story and see where it takes us.
    I also wanted to just say thanks to you for having such a mature and understanding disposition to the series thus far. Your grasp of Japanese media and history, the critical thinking you display, and your willingness to be patient with what you take in (also, all your combat commentary lol) it's a real breath of fresh air after the last AOT reaction I had. Even, AOT aside, I just really appreciate you and you are definitely on of the reactors I'll be coming back to after this series. So, thank you again. I wish you all the success going forward, you absolutely deserve it, and I can't wait to see where you go from here!

If you have any doubts about something, tell us we’ll try to clarify it. Otherwise you will see that by looking at the anime you will also catch the details that you lost in the first vision. It is normal that the first time you look at it you do not notice the details but you discover them only from the second vision onwards. Attack on titan is to be seen entirely at least twice. 😊😉

He says "If we kill all our enemies over there, will we finally be free?" He also wouldn't constantly be looking for another way to achieve his goal if he just wanted everyone dead. He also wouldn't break down crying because he doesn't want to do what the situation is forcing him to do.

    Am trying to explain the manipulation of time and memories so :
    Eren manipulated his father by sending a future memories by the attack titan so grisha knows that eren is in front of him and he spiking him and he showed him a memeories from a way future
    And thats why eren saw his future by touching historya in the party he saws his future from his dad memories bcz grisha is already have eren’s future memories and thats why kruger knows armin and mikassa in season 3 those are eren yeager momories and thats why the attack titan search for freedom bcz eren always wants an works for being free
    Its eren unfluenced it all
    Tbh we need to see that eren is the real writer of the show
    I wich that you wil see my comment and you wil understand the point
    I already like your reaction for this masterpiece 😊

    Without a doubt, the best trio of episodes of a television series. I can't wait to watch your next AOT reactions.
    PS: By the way, since you've seen the series in its entirety on Patreon, I recommend that you react to several iconic tracks from the AOT soundtrack. Personally I recommend some of the following tracks:
    - S1: *Vogel im Käfig* (I personally recommend a RUclips video made by *kasumi appa* because said video contains the complete track and includes the subtitles, both in the original lyrics (in German) and in its English translation), *ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn* , *cóunter・attàck-m'ænkάɪnd* and *Bauklötze* .
    - S2: *YouSeeBIGGIRL/T:T* , *APETITAN* , *2Volt* and *Call of Silence* .
    - S3: *Zero Eclipse* , *Before Lights Out* , *0sk* and *Apple Seed* .
    - S4-1: *Ashes on The Fire* , *The Other Side of the Sea* and *The Fall of Marley* .
    - S4-2: *Footsteps of Doom* and *All of the Freedoms* .
    - S4-3: *An Ordinary Day* and *ət'aek till we are Ashes* .

    now that you've seen the finale, it's important to remember that everything that happens in Aot is soft determinism, it's a difference to hard determinism. Everything is determined while simultaneously Eren's will. We see it when he saved Ramzi the first time they met, it was destined to happen but he also couldn't help himself from wanting to do it, even if it makes him a hypocrite.

    I cant believe how profund and crystal clear Isayama was able to explain how while conflicts have multiple sides, at the end the only sides that matter are humanity and retribution. Eren and Zeke both had "noble" intentions, but ultimately just ended up coloring the same extremism differently. Pure evil doesn't exist, everything has a traceable reason, but reasons don't matter to the victims, so as long as there are victims, nothing will change, no matter who's right. Because with that system of beliefe, everyone is right and justified to exact the same pain exacted upon them. Generational work of art, im glad I was alive to witness it real time 😭🤌

    We dont have exact numbers, but doing some calculations from the Manga, we can determine that Ymir's Founding Titan was GIGANTIC. Many times bigger than your average titan.
    Its estimated that Ymir's Founding Titan was just as tall standing up, as the Rod Reiss Titan was long lying down.

    Episode 20 in my opinion is the best in the entire series. I mean it changes the entire show, it came completely out of nowhere with the reveals, it changes our entire interpretation of 3 characters, and also has lots of emotion in there. I mean this series is worth watching purely just to witness that

    in my mind AoT is up there with TVs greats.. The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, GoT (seasons 1-4). In some ways AoT is even better since the medium allows for so much nuance and creativity that cannot be believably conveyed in film. To my mind, this is one of the greatest stories ever told in moving pictures

    Also, wanna add to this: Let's not fanboy/girl Eren, please. Even today's geopolitical situations (not needed to mention) show us that whether Eren has "good" or "evil" motivation/reasons/intentions to do this (not gonna spoil, although, it was already recorded on Patreon but still), killing innocent people that aren't even connected to Eldia and its problems will never be justifiable. No matter the intentions, objectively Eren's a bad guy - he's a "good guy/grey-area guy" only to those close to him (who still may love him), or us the fans; but try to be the person thousands of kilometers from Paradis or Marley, and he is clearly the bad guy, because even though you have nothing to do with this and you're clearly innocent, you are getting trembled by millions of titans, no matter what...
    So I know that he's our main character, but he's not the "grey-area" type, as the grey-area type of characters may not do 100% immoral things, whilst having good or evil intentions, but they weren't outright evil. At the end of the day, Hitler just wanted to "save his country", does that make him a good guy? Or maybe, Hitler wasn't even an antisemite and actually lied all along, and his intentions were good - but same as with Eren, no matter the intentions, he's a bad guy... Not a "grey-area" guy, but a bad guy (as you wouldn't say the same with Hitler). And so, let's not simp for him just because he's our main character, please...

    • @fueledbyproblems_
      @fueledbyproblems_ 5 месяцев назад +3

      yeah, the amount of people justifying Eren's action and not do the same with Hitler is crazy.
      I mean you can't cherry pick on this matter, genocide will always be wrong no matter the intention. Even if you have the "holy" mission to save your land from the bad guy by doing exactly what the bad guy does, it'll make you equally bad as the bad guys.
      i know this is just anime, but isayama made it so relatable to our world's problem.

    • @Supertaldo916
      @Supertaldo916 5 месяцев назад

      Bro Hitler wanted to “Save his country” from an inexistent enemy.
      Eren, his family and his people were being kept prisoners both on Paradis and in Libeiro, they were being eaten alive by their own people, through the action of the Marleyans, and they were decidedly going to be squashed by Marley sooner or later. Then, Willy Tybur, without knowing if Eren and the Eldians wanted to find a peaceful way out or not, decided to declare war, alongside the whole world, on Paradis.
      People love to try and make Eren look like Hitler when the circumstances are totally different lmao.
      Eren knew there was only one way to save the people he cared about, and he decided to take the chance. Did everyone who got trampled deserve it? Obviously not, even Eren knows it. Is he Hitler? Absolutely fucking not.

    • @saiyen9378
      @saiyen9378 5 месяцев назад

      he is not a bad guy, he is actually right, + also that's a subjective matter my dude, Eren did the right thing in that context and peoples are right about him

    • @samster9370
      @samster9370 5 месяцев назад +2

      You can't compare Eren with hitler. Jews weren't threat to Germany. Marley and world alliance were threat to the eldians. They want eldians exterminated. If someone will nuke you to the point of non existence you have right to counter attack with your own nuke.

    • @TomiThemself
      @TomiThemself 5 месяцев назад

      @@samster9370So if they are a threat, omnicide is justifiable? In Marley's eyes, Eldians are "a threat", even though we know they aren't. In another words, in both sides' eyes they are a threat - however, again, even today, we see great powers pointing fingers at each other and saying "they want to destroy, so we need to destroy them first". I'm not saying that Paradis should just give up, but again, genocide is never the answer. That's why Eren IS comparable to Hitler - because as I've written in my last comment, it doesn't matter what his intentions were, in they eyes of the whole world, he IS the bad guy as he's killing 80% of the population.
      Not to mention, without spoilers - if you've seen the last episode - I'd argue that Eren did not do this because he was a patriot/nationalist. Therefore, it is not a question of "but Marley would kill them", but rather it's about "Eren had weird thoughts about freedom, thus he did what he did." But again, we know that Eldians were not a threat - same as we know that Jews were not a threat. However, both side still have their "hero"-motivation. So what I'm trying to say is that no matter Eren's intention, he is comparable to Hitler, as even Hitler "maybe had good intention", but he still is remembered as on the wrong side of history, because in the eyes of people, we don't care about intentions, it's the actions - I don't care about what Eren thought, whether he was a psycho or whether he had empathy towards the innocent people, genocide is and never will be justifiable, no matter the intentions.
      It's crazy that I have to argue as to why genocide is never okay...
