  • As a Linux user, you might be curious what the new Ubuntu 24.04 version brings and how it is different from the current 22.04 LTS version.
    If you are using Ubuntu 22.04 currently, you may even wonder if you should upgrade to the new LTS version.
    Of course, considering these are long-term support releases, not everyone needs the immediate upgrade.
    So, how do you decide? Only when you compare the changes, right? Here, I shall review the feature offerings for both the Ubuntu desktop Long-term support versions to help you decide.
    Typo in the video text: It should be compared to Ubuntu 22.04, not 23.04.
    Here's a text article comparing Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the previous LTS version 22.04: itsfoss.com/ubuntu-24-04-vs-2...

    4:41 for fractional scailing, use xorg and execute the xrandr command with desired scaling. ive tried it and it works great except for video playback takes a tiny hit because of extra load on the processor.

    Wouldn't load. It activated the iso, said it was loading the system, then said "Setting Up System" ---- 90 minutes later, it was saying the same things. Tried this and got the same result 5 times

    Good overview for us Ubutunu fans, the new software centre looks good.
    Question Ankush, will you be doing a fresh installation video for 24.04? If so could you cover the enabling UEFI/Secure Boot option? Thanks.

    • @Itsfoss
      @Itsfoss  2 месяца назад

      We'll be doing the fresh installation video. UEFI and secure boot have not been an issue for Ubuntu since some years, specially if Ubuntu is the only OS installed.

    that top bar with the time and those icons on the left is such a waste of space
    never get why ubuntu use 2 panels where all desktops only use one
    apps should also default overlap them when maximized

    • @_tanzil_
      @_tanzil_ 2 месяца назад

      That's exactly i always say. It makes my work space smaller. I use Dash to panel extension for that always. I don't like the gnome desktop layout at all.

    • @loucipher7782
      @loucipher7782 2 месяца назад

      @@_tanzil_ dash to panel is basically what linux mint is doing
      what i want is the look of ubuntu on default and they should make those left and top panels always stay in background so fullscreen apps will overlap them.
      Also you can still pull those panels out with a single press of the super button anyway

    It is noticeably slower than 23.10, buggy as hell and I would say pretty unusable as VM. After few freezes gave me unrecoverable svga error - never seen that before.
    If you do not want to waste your time on testing it, I'd say just leave it.
    Why did they even put it out, it is such a put-down to the Linux (and Ubuntu) community. :/
