    I left New York the march of 2017 and I hold the place dearly in my heart. One thing that I realized you never leave a place even when you are not there physically. So from that perspective may be a part of me is still there. It will truly be a joy to see you explore Queens and the Bronx. Places I believe that are under-represented. Enjoy The City!

    I get exactly where you're coming from on this Eduardo. My favourite camera to use is my Yashicamat 124 because I enjoy using it every time, and that ENJOYMENT is really underrated when it comes to picking a camera that's right for you. It's no good picking a camera because of image quality, lenses, focusing distance if it's a camera you don't want to take with you whenever you leave the house.

    7:34 I love that neighborhood and Bridge! I have lots of pictures from it!
    I hope all goes well with you in The States! We just moved back 4 months ago and are struggling with the cost of living . My wife’s parents needed to be helped (mid-80’s and one with Alzheimer’s) so back we came. I live a few blocks from a camera store but haven’t found the labs yet… soon

    Hi Eduardo, always look forward to your videos. I had a thought about how you might save some space with your gear. I'm sure if you can find an electronics enthusiast they would be able to make you a custom charger/power supply with a couple of switches to change the output so that you'd only need one charger for all of your electronic stuff. All chargers do is change power from ac to dc and I'm pretty confident most of the chargers and power supplies you're using could be replicated. I'm sure it's at least worth chatting to someone with knowledge about it. Hope you settle in to your new home soon.

    Good choice keeping the Rollie. I have a Yashica MAT124 and wouldn't swap it for anything.
    Side note regarding the light meter, as it might be similar to the one in my Yashica. If your Rollie uses a PX625 battery standard you should consider getting the MR-9 battery adapter for it to get the correct 1.35V voltage, it's expensive but totally worth it. You should also use silver oxide batteries as their output doesn't degrade overtime as lithium batteries tend to, in case you didn't know. :)

    Bravo. This was a bittersweet video. It's scary moving to another country but also exciting. The choice [Rollei or Mamiya] seems simple. While it's difficult to give up your trusty camera, glad you "gifted" it. Medium format does seduce you. Square [or 6x9 and 4.5x6], . It's a new world.

  • @MrNamaikisaru
    @MrNamaikisaru 6 лет назад

    Good luck in NY! I have a 6x9 medium format folding bessa. Any bigger a negative than that and you’d be hard pushed to shoot your informal street style. 4x5 is great but I rarely get the time to do it.

    NY is an old and relatively dirty city, and insanely expensive - not up to modern American standards for decades. But it'll keep you busy. Contrary to more practical cities, NY is a consumer itself - it consumes lives with many superficial things to keep you busy. Good luck with your studies. Nice photos!

  • @MegaMatojo

    No questions, the Rollei 2.8 is iconic , the lens is sweet and contrasty, is more expensive and is getting hard to find. I have the 3.5 and I will hold on too.

    Curious why you didn’t consider the Mamiya C220. It’s fully mechanical & smaller than the C330, but takes the same lenses. It seems like the C220 gives you the advantages of the C330 (multiple lens choices & close focusing) with a more compact form like the Rollei.

    • @edpavez
      @edpavez  4 года назад +1

      Jason Butler Because it happened the other way around: I first got the Mamiya, used it until getting used to it, and so I found out I like TLRs, so I bought a Rolleiflex. ;)

  • @franklynLP
    @franklynLP 6 лет назад +1

    The interchangeable lenses on the Mamiya are awesome, you just took the "wrong" one. 105 and 135 arent that nice for a tlr especially on the street, but the 65 is even nicer than the 80 and same goes for the 55 since its pretty unique on 6x6 (like are there cameras besides the Mamiya 6 that use wide lenses with 6x6?). It always feels more fresh and interesting to me to shoot the 65 (i even sold the 80). I wouldnt use a mamiya just for the 80mm but the 65 changed photography for me...

    • @leonarddaneman810
      @leonarddaneman810 4 года назад

      C330 rules . . . used one since 1971. I had every lens BUT the 65mm.

    • @leslumieres1237
      @leslumieres1237 3 года назад

      As a professional photographer, who worked with both the Mamiya TLR and the Rollei, I am sorry to say that even the Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 3,5/75 mm to be found on both the Rolleicord and a few Rolleiflex models is far, far superior to any of the Mamiya lenses. I do admit however, that the fixed optics of the Rolleis is a con, though a Tele-Rolleiflex and a wide angle have been made - again, with the superior lenses by Zeiss.

    Weirdly this is inspiring me to get out and use my Mamiyas. Although I am thinking of selling the C330 and keeping the C220. The C330 is just so cumbersome. But they're also my only cameras with leaf shutters and I finally have a digital that I can really use to take test images with flash. Well, I have a Yashica D, but I don't really use it anymore. The dark finder just makes me miss focus so often with the Yashica.
