I just did a 10km trail run with these shoes, and I just have to complain. I felt every loose rock that I ran over. Got a bleeding toe along the way. Stop to adjust the lacing 3 or four times. That loose lacing puller was in the way all the time. Irritating the hell out of me. My feet very sensitive after the run. I am a UK 9 size, guess I should have bought UK 8 1/2. I will use them now for casual wearing only. Looks nice though.
I also think that there is an error in this video: it is rather indicated everywhere to take a smaller size. I personally took ½ size smaller than my running shoes (usually I wear a 6 for regular shoes and 6.5 for running shoes, I bought a 6 of this model) and I think I should have take even smaller! Also, regarding the laces, the solution I suggest is to add a Salomon Lab gaiter. In addition to allowing the end of the lace to be stored there, it protects the ankle and prevents small pebbles from entering the shoe!

Salomon have taken a backward step by removing the material in the upper that was on the previous model (the Blast), which fixed issues with holes forming when you flexed your foot. The change to add the material in the Blast was a good thing. I had the first model and the flex area of the upper was really bad with holes between 100-150 miles total running. The Blast I received on warranty have been great and only started to get a little hole at 400 miles of running and the material stops the hole getting bigger. It seems strange to me that Salomon have taken away this material for the version 3 you have reviewed here. I have now been buying some extra pairs of the Blast because I am not optimistic about the durability of the upper on the version 3 2. Sizing. You mentioned size up. Actually these are a wider forefoot fit and I sized down and many other reviewers said the same. I am always a UK 10 in running shoes but am UK 9.5 in these.
Which brand would you prefer Salomon or Columbia ? Or any other for running/walking/trail running/hiking. Also could you review the Salomon sonic 4 accerelate shoe if possible. Like the way u review shoes.
Thank you for watching and the recommendation, I'll try to get Salomon Sonic for a review! If you want to save money, Columbia is a pretty good option. I had my Columbia Newton Ridge for about 3 years now and they are still great. But for more serious hikes I always use my Salomon X Ultra 3 GTX mid size.
