Hello Simon. The only problem with watching other RUclipsrs channels is that it only increases the tbr. So many books and so little time! Happy reading to you.
And to you. I was just talking the other day to Ben Green about how brilliant it is that BookTube gets me all the more excited about books and reading. It’s like an eternal book buzz.
I'm from Finland! (Now in London.) You should definitely visit. People love Lapland in the winter, and it is magical, but Helsinki is lovely in the summer. If you go, visit the island of Suomenlinna off the coast of Helsinki & the national library Oodi. Also, highly recommned experiencing Finnish summer cabin vibes by either renting a place or going to a resort like Järvisydän or a hotel like The Barö. 😊
One day, one day. It’s definitely on my list of places to go. I think it looks amazing. Also think would be a very me place… no idea why that is, yet I think it. Hahaha.
Hahahaha. When I thought of the chandelier moment I laughed at the very idea of it, so pleased it made you laugh. I’m going to get all the Caroline O’Donoghue novels when they come out with the new covers next week. You could have led me to a new favourite author. Thank you*. *Though if I hate them I’m sending you an invoice 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the way you’re doing the clip inserts in your videos!! They crack me up! I’ve read three of these, had one on the TBR already and now have the other. Fabulous shirt too!!
I can’t wait for what she writes next. I have a (very silly) rule that I have to love three of an authors books for them to be a favourite… so no pressure on the next one.
I have had Cleopatra and Frankenstein on my TBR for ages. Might try to get to it this month. Just reserved The Rachel Incident from my library. Thanks Simon
Irish authors lead my fave books of the year every year. This year, Alan Murrin is in the forefront with “The Coast Road” followed closely by Orla Owen’s “Christ on a Bike.”🚲
The only book I’ve finished this week is Orbital I’ve started one of my most anticipated books today. I preordered it ages ago The God of the Woods by Liz Moore I’m still reading The In Between by Christos Tsiolkas I’m looking forward to reading The Coast Road by Alan Murin I’m so looking forward to the Booker long list. The Rachel Incident was one of my best books of 2023. It was brilliant on audio. Chandelier takes on a whole new meaning.❤
I cannot believe I’ve still not read Orbital. She on me. I love her writing soooo much. The God of the Woods I want the US edition of, so adds to my ever growing list of reasons to go back to NYC this year or early next year.
Always a massive fan of Irish literature, so will definitely be checking out Caroline O'Donoghue! And I absolutely loved The Death of Vivek Oji (devastating, but beautiful), so I can't wait to get my hands on Little Rot. Obsessed with the t-shirt 😊
It’s fab isn’t it. I squealed with joy when it arrived it and saw in in real life, will be wearing often. Hope you enjoy Little Rot (and my video with Akwaeke if you watch it) when you get to it. I’m really looking forward to more Caroline O’Donoghue.
The Rachel incident has been on my shelf for ages 😮 I need to read it next along with Rosewater. I loved Cleo & Frank although I thought the ending was a bit rushed 🤔 Currently reading Fruit of the drunken tree 📖 loving your T-shirt 😎📚
Can’t remember if you’ve read Golden Child by Claire Adam. It takes place in Trinidad. One of my favorite books in the year I read it (2019, I think). It’s a pity about the dog violence Hungry Ghosts. That makes it a no for me. I can’t imagine the scenario where this type of violence is necessary for plot/character development, so it defaults to gratuitous for me. You’ll tell me that’s not the case and that’s fine. It’s just a shame I won’t be able to read what sounds like a promising book otherwise.
I shall give Golden Child a whirl as I haven’t read it but have heard brilliant things about in from lots of lovely people including your good self now, maybe that’s one for my BookTube holiday break. Sorry if I’ve put you off Hungry Ghosts but think it’s totally worth forewarning, some of book club were quite affected by it.
As a retired librarian Your T-shirt is Fabulous!!!
Hahaha. It’s ace isn’t it 😉 🌈

Love, love, love your shirt!!!!!!!
Fingers crossed they will do more, the link is in the description 😉
That chandelier interlude 🤣🤣
Hehehehe. Glad you enjoyed it. I giggled to myself from the idea alone!
I like the tapping of the book spine thing 😆
😉
Love you being on board for the Rachel incident 💅 *almost spat my coffee out at the sia chandelier clip* 😂

Oh which have you read and which are on the TBR? Glad you like the clips. I think my next video could outdo them all!
@@SavidgeReads The two on the TBR are Little Rot and now Rosewater. I’m so excited for Mellors’ new novel! And you are a tease!
Love the image of “Barbara” in Aldi eventually noticing the paperback cover of Rosewater.
-The drumming is part of the charm, haha.
Other supermarkets are available 😉
@@SavidgeReads surprises can happen anywhere
I picked up Rosewater at the Aesop Free Queer Library at the end of June and I was already massively excited to read it, but now even moreso!
Oooh I’ve always wanted to go to the Aesop Free Queer Library, so jealous.
Absolutely loved Blue sisters and Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors 🙂
Definitely my new favourite author
I can’t wait for what she writes next. I have a (very silly) rule that I have to love three of an authors books for them to be a favourite… so no pressure on the next one.
Just found your channel - LOVE your shelves! I really need to read Coco Mellors, I've heard so many amazing things!
Welcome!!!! I hope you keep enjoying the videos (and the shelves) Lyd. And defo get to Coco, she’s brilliant.
Here I am again, adding a pile of books to my towering tbr -- and that shirt!!! 😍😍😍
Hahaha. I did limit it just to five… in this video 😉
@SavidgeReads that is helpful, because I have about 67 Jenga tbr stacks over here -- so thank you!
I’m so excited to watch your interview with Akwaeke!!!
Hope you enjoy it when you do!
loved Cleopatra and Frankenstein -all the relationships are so involved. with so many twists and turns.
Yes. It’s brilliant, so addictive.
Just started reading Rachel Incident on audio!
Ooh hope you enjoy it.
Love the shirt! ❤ really enjoyed Cleo and Frank; will be picking up her latest soon hopefully!
Hope you enjoy Blue Sister when you get to it! 💙🩵
Off to check my library for Hungry Ghosts.
Hope they have it, it’s a gritty, gothic summer gem.
@@SavidgeReads they do and i've reserved it!
Bumps the Rachel incident up my list! Also your tee is epic 😊
It’s a corker isn’t it! I saw it and knew it had to be mine.
I have had Cleopatra and Frankenstein on my TBR for ages. Might try to get to it this month. Just reserved The Rachel Incident from my library. Thanks Simon
A pleasure. I hope you enjoy them both when you get to them!
This is the year that Irish fiction has me in a stronghold also 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮, aiming to truly visit very soon 😉.
Honestly it just has me gripped. I’m worried what may happen when I’m there with all those Irish bookshops and Irish books!
Irish authors lead my fave books of the year every year. This year, Alan Murrin is in the forefront with “The Coast Road” followed closely by Orla Owen’s “Christ on a Bike.”🚲
I have both of those on my TBR, I’m even more excited to read them now.
Loved Cleo & Rachel too, great picks!
Thank you. Hope you enjoy the others if you check them out/head to them!
I’m starting Little Rot today. I’m going to add The Rachel Incident to my TBR.
Hope you enjoy them both as much as I did.

The "savage" chandelier... ohhhhh😂😊
Coughs. ‘Savidge’. Lol.
a perfect pairing to your lovely shirt, the book "Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books" by Kirsten Miller
Ooooh I’ve not heard of that one. I shall look it up. The book I think of with this tshirt is Rebecca Makkai’s The Borrower.
@@SavidgeReads I bumped "The Borrower" UP in my TBR - thanks

Ooh I’ve not heard of Fruit of the Drunken Tree what a great title. I shall look that up. Hope you enjoy The Rachel Incident and Rosewater.
@@SavidgeReads it’s by Ingrid Rojas Contreras 📖❤️
Im busy reading The Story of the Night Colm Toibin irish fiction. I think the lovely louise recommemded it 😊❤
Oh that’s interesting... I thought she’d only read his myth retelling. I can’t remember if I’ve read story of night. I am about to read his new one.
lolol not Sia's chandelier lololol🍭

If you come to Helsinki, I could show you all the good bookish places! 🇫🇮
Oooooh. Well if I do I shall forwarn everyone. Hahaha. Weirdly you can currently only fly from London, it’s on my hitlist though.
Ooo some more for the TBR! What’s the book you didn’t like? I’m behind on videos so don’t know 🙃
Oh I talked about it loads last year, it became a joke. But feel like maybe I shouldn’t kick it anymore. Hahaha.
I knew you were about to hold up The Rachel Incident. That friendship between Rachel and James was so well- written.
It’s was soooo beautifully and deftly done.
farmer geeky intellectual hung like a chandelier?
now i’ll read it. HA !

🌈📚🥳
Oh no, I hated rosewater! I found it so poorly written
That’s fair enough. Each to their own. We can’t all like the same books, that would be super boring.
