*Great video. We all strive towards financial stability and a better life. It is easy to achieve this through the right investment, by living frugally and budgeting. I’m glad I learnt early in life to work hard for financial freedom*
This is just the right information towards financial freedom as well as wealth creation. For so many years I thought working for other people was the only way to live comfortably, but I came to think differently when I started working with *Donald Nathan Scott* (a registered financial adviser residing in United States). Now I gain a lot working with him.
To be financially free with a passive income source which exceeds your expenses, you need to invest. It’s not just watching videos and reading investment books anymore but for positive results, work with an expert. I used to think that I can make more money investing on my own without any loss, but I had better luck working with a *financial advisor* . I’m glad I chose to work with *Donald Nathan Scott* and I have no regrets with my decision.

Leading Successful investor, didn’t just get rich doing what others did but took there time investing despite all odds to get to the top. Working on my path towards financial independence, I realized that; “the greater the risk , the more the rewards”. people who make the median income and live in actual portland have a room in someone's house they rent because you cant live in portland on a median income. I live in portland with my 4 young adult and teen kids one of which now helps with rent and our income is just under 100k a year with all money considered and we are pretty poor in terms of how we live compared to what the same amount of money would get us anywhere else. Our rent is 2400 a month alone and that takes the lion's share of income. We dont have any debt really except some hospital copays we owe but we sure are not able to save anything and we are gonna move to a cheaper area as soon as we can.
The amount you’re committing to saving is phenomenal. I’m guessing you’re maxing out either Traditional IRA or 401k contributions to minimize your tax obligations? Have you considered Roth options for either?
Marissa Lyda hi! My fiancé and I are SO curious! What are the pretax deductions you are referencing? We make the same as you guys and it looks like you bring home almost 15% more than we do! We want to know the secret! 😂 thanks! 😍
@@sierrababbidge2394 it looks like they include the 401k and stuff into their monthly savings in the video. Most people don’t count that as money coming in because it’s removed from your income before you get your check and is taken out pretaxes.
Thank you for this helpful video of a couple that definitely lives in Beaverton and also lived with family until their debt was paid off enough to allow them to buy a house. Totally realistic and universally applicable.
No one said universally applicable. Money struggles can happen no matter what the income. People making millions mismanage their money sometimes on a HUGE scale. Their story is no less worthy of being featured than someone who did not have the same advantages.
They made smart choices yes but they also had a lot of help getting started. Everyone does not have parents to give them money, let them live with them or even give them good money advice or show them how to handle money correctly. Not everyone is starting at the same start line as them.
@@michaelflynn7688 but they mentioned living with parents while paying off debt. Thats an amazing opportunity that a lot of people don't get. The rent they paid was probably minimal too.
They are extremely disciplined with their money if you follow her channel, even now debt free. Even if they didn’t live with her parents after getting married for a few years, they would still accomplish what they have - it would’ve just taken them a little longer.
Good work! But the income and budget seem a little off. The income is stated at $124K. The spending budget is $109K, so I assume this is also equal to the net after-tax income. But that would indicate state + federal income taxes of only 12%, which seems too low. Oregon state income tax runs 7% - 9.9%. I think they should re-do their spending budget pie chart to show state & federal income tax. And $400/mo for food, if accurate, is excellent! I spend $400/mo for food for one person.
I think their take-home pay is around $100K, because they are contributing to 401K and Stuff, and also use Donations and also House Mortgage as a tax right off because that's where their RUclips & Business stuff is done.
I live in Oregon with food allergies and it costs about $900 for food a month! I also try to eat the best I can as well. I would love to see what food you can buy for $300 from the grocery store!
Their take home is $109,044 and they make 124k so they pay about 15k in taxes. That doesn't seem right. I don't know what their local and state taxes are but for just Federal taxes alone they'd have to pay 23k
As a millennial that lives in Portland, this couple is definitely the exception, not the rule. Also, as others have said, they don't live in Portland, they live out in Hillsboro 😐 I make a little less than the average at about 30k a year. Literally none of my peers in my friend group make this much money.
I so relate to those first few years of sacrifice in marriage being worth the financial freedom. That intensity for a short period of time means we can be generous with our finances and have peace about our future. It's an immense blessing.
A lot of you “RUclips experts” miss the whole point of these videos. People are so busy trying to critique every aspect of SOME ONE ELSES decisions and situation, instead of absorbing these videos for what they are. They just show different financial situations for different people in different states. Regardless if they save 4K a month, or 4K a year, most Americans don’t even have 1k in savings period. They are a young couple grinding n and doing what they are suppose to. I’m sure they are learning as they go along. You internet people are really sickening and exhausting at this point in 2020. Smh
Nikki Boucher well you actually can learn. Most of these individuals have one thing in common, save and spend on what they only NEED. That’s a good 1st lesson for you. Doesn’t have to be for a lifetime. But it’ll help you get to where your going. And I think they did just drop a video on somebody making 20k. Good luck!
duran barnes I already only spend on what I need and save everything else. But the basic expenses (rent, transportation, food, utilities) use up almost all my income
@@nikkiboucher8972 this probably wouldn’t be the channel for you. I would look into free to family and other budgeting extreme savings channels that show how to live on very little and increase side hustle money. You can do it!
It not possible for their take home to be so high. I’ve noticed MM has been doing this for a while. What I think happens is that they don’t factor in taxes from their side business which is misleading. I make more than they do and factor in taxes, my take home is less even without factoring deductions like 401K.
Hey there! Some of those items come out of our pay checks as deductions like the HSA, 401k, and health insurance. And some are pretax. So we don’t take home exactly $9k each month, but we save that much including those deductions. 😊
They do provide some real life advice, like their ability to pay off debt being due to living with parents and living like college students even when working. I appreciate these tidbits.
Her mother could have gotten married when she was older like high school age. If the majority of her childhood was spent being raised by just her mom, her statement is valid. Also simply because her father is in her life now doesn't mean he always was. And child support (if her mom got it) doesn't always cover enough of the cost to raise children especially multiple children.
Yes. Staying out of debt... #1... to live a life of sanity. Can't believe that you think $10,000 for a wedding is cheap. No way would I spend that much on a wedding, but you seem to be doing well over all, so good for you for making budgeting a priority. Thanks for sharing.
No, they aren't. They are contributing more than 15% of their income to retirement without having their home paid off. They also put less than 20% down on their home, causing them to pay PMI, which Dave does not recommend. Essentially, from a balance sheet perspective, they are borrowing from their home to invest more than 15%, which is not what Dave teaches.

They don’t live in portland(not even close) and have had a LOT of of finical help from parents. So everything they say is pretty moot. I live in portland(proper), have a house, have a spouse and we get by on 80k but are never quite comfortable or easy. We didn’t have a wedding because we couldn’t afford one. We got married at the courthouse and our friends bought us a cake from a bakery and champagne. We didn’t have a honeymoon. Went back to work the next day. We only shop at winco and are very careful to buy sale items. We each have a car, bought used for under 10k. We don’t take vacations. We go to the beach of Seattle maybe once a summer. We don’t eat out, unless we count papa Murphy’s $12 Tuesday special. We aggressively recycle to have a small cushion for Christmas or birthday presents. It’s hard.
The middle class is slowly becoming less like the middle class everyday. Some day in the future you’ll have to make 200k a year just to meet your budget
As someone who lives in downtown Portland it’s hilarious that these people say they live in Portland and it’s immediately clear they live in Hillsboro (30+ minutes away) or somewhere way more affordable than actual Portland.

You look like the type who would live in the city. There are suburbs. Clearly they are educated and upper middle class. They arent going to live next to the homeless and the trash in the city, theyll be in the suburbs.
A lot of people do, but unfortunately the many that I know who don't pay rent still insist on spending all their money on themselves instead of saving it. They must spend all their money on that luxury holiday, new car, designer clothes etc.

I live in Portland and this couple makes a lot more than most young couple around here myself included and they're making 124k see like a struggle 🙄
If the neighborhood they were walking in was theirs.... I highly doubt the live in Portland. Maybe happy valley

It’s Hillsburito. No house that nice in Portland is worth that. Mine is worth $650k I live in down town hillsburito as well lol 😂
Apparently its Wilsonville. So definitely not Portland lol.
$4,000/mo toward savings! Graham Stephan will be adopting this couple as his own. 😁great job you guys!
I was impressed when I saw that. One thing I've seen in the USA is that its (somewhat) easier to save than it is here in the UK because graduate salaries are generally higher, especially for engineers, so it kind of sets them up for future financial success.
RAM Real Estate Investing Impossible to do in Europe in your 20s.....so unfair that 20-somethings in America can have such huge salaries right out of college when the same jobs in Europe would be lucky to earn half of American salaries..........even lawyers do not earn so much in Europe.........

Yep definitely
They’re actually not Mormon! But they are also Christian :)
Yeah typical Portland yuppies. Half this city is filled with them and the other half with completely insane people.

You're telling me this girl is married, owns a home, has two fulfilling jobs, and is now expecting a baby all at 25? She is KILLING the game!
Impress me when you’re making closer to the median income, and you ACTUALLY live in Portland.
people who make the median income and live in actual portland have a room in someone's house they rent because you cant live in portland on a median income.
Why is their budget non taxed? They can’t possibly bring home $9k a month.
Christian Enyinda hey there! We have some pretax deductions that are coming out of our pay checks and included in the $9k. 😊
This just goes to show that finances CAN become a lot simpler once you get married, double the income and mostly the same expenses
Arguably finding the right partner is the most difficult decision of one's life
Smart millennial money! This was probably the best one I’ve seen.
Portland metropolitan area = Portland
But yes, not everyone has the privilege of relying on parents
I get so happy when I see people making wise decisions :) at such young ages. Not sure, why this is not mainstream approach to life.
They made smart choices yes but they also had a lot of help getting started. Everyone does not have parents to give them money, let them live with them or even give them good money advice or show them how to handle money correctly. Not everyone is starting at the same start line as them.
team Bennett-wells my husband and I are pretty similar to them and neither of us has ever gotten a penny from our family nor do we have any networking
I love the series but can you showcase someone that didn't start on 3rd base? I swear everyone showcased on this series start with some family wealth.
Dean Price LOL. Sadly that’s true
Agree. Staying with parents while working and paying little rent is a privilege so many don't have .
@@michaelflynn7688 but they mentioned living with parents while paying off debt. Thats an amazing opportunity that a lot of people don't get. The rent they paid was probably minimal too.
Facts.
They are using tax sheltered accounts like HSA, 401k etc
Exactly this makes no sense. You have to pay more tax that $20k a year when you're earning $124k
I think their take-home pay is around $100K, because they are contributing to 401K and Stuff, and also use Donations and also House Mortgage as a tax right off because that's where their RUclips & Business stuff is done.
These 2 have it together...I think a lot of couples can learn from them!
Do Texas, so I can cry about their giant affordable house
Or their Tiny house 😂. You'll see us here in a month or so lol.
This is not representative of housing in Portland. The couple lives near Tualatin, almost 20 miles outside the city.
Texas isn't all that cheap anymore. Oklahoma is where the real finds are. Only bad part is you have to live in Oklahoma. XD
@@tori_forte 🤣 Born and raised in Texas and yes it is not as cheap as say even 15 plus years ago

Their networth increase $6500 per month. That's crazy.
This by far is my favorite Millennial Money! Congratulations on the baby and all your success.
I live in Oregon with food allergies and it costs about $900 for food a month! I also try to eat the best I can as well. I would love to see what food you can buy for $300 from the grocery store!
How bout you do one about living on 30K a year in Portland.
Hard to find such a lady as a wife, Jacob is lucky
Their take home is $109,044 and they make 124k so they pay about 15k in taxes. That doesn't seem right. I don't know what their local and state taxes are but for just Federal taxes alone they'd have to pay 23k
As a millennial that lives in Portland, this couple is definitely the exception, not the rule. Also, as others have said, they don't live in Portland, they live out in Hillsboro 😐 I make a little less than the average at about 30k a year. Literally none of my peers in my friend group make this much money.
I’ve been watching Marissa for a few months now so great to see them on here!! She’s inspired me to track my finances more :))
This is amazing!! Awesome job Jacob and Marissa!

I love you and your channel 😍☺️
A lot of you “RUclips experts” miss the whole point of these videos. People are so busy trying to critique every aspect of SOME ONE ELSES decisions and situation, instead of absorbing these videos for what they are. They just show different financial situations for different people in different states. Regardless if they save 4K a month, or 4K a year, most Americans don’t even have 1k in savings period. They are a young couple grinding n and doing what they are suppose to. I’m sure they are learning as they go along. You internet people are really sickening and exhausting at this point in 2020. Smh
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK! 👏👏
duran barnes I cant learn from situations that are so different from mine. I need a video of people who make less than $20k
Love these series!! Please continue to make more! It very refreshing to see how people manage their money
How is their take home income so high? Do they not pay taxes like I do? They take home $109K of the $124k they make.
Social security, Medicare, federal, and state taxes would take more than that.
They’re take home should be super roughly around $7000 after taxes, insurance, 401k, etc.
It’s all about investing into non-taxed accounts.
They do provide some real life advice, like their ability to pay off debt being due to living with parents and living like college students even when working. I appreciate these tidbits.
“I was raised by a single mom.” “My mom and step dad helped pay for the wedding” “my dad helped pay for the wedding”
🧐
I never would have noticed that.
You missed the part where she said, "for the majority of my childhood."
Yes. Staying out of debt... #1... to live a life of sanity. Can't believe that you think $10,000 for a wedding is cheap. No way would I spend that much on a wedding, but you seem to be doing well over all, so good for you for making budgeting a priority. Thanks for sharing.
DINK - Dual income and no kids (yet)
They aren’t just good with money...they are phenomenal!! Goals!!
Sounds like they follow the Dave Ramsey principles.
No, they aren't. They are contributing more than 15% of their income to retirement without having their home paid off. They also put less than 20% down on their home, causing them to pay PMI, which Dave does not recommend. Essentially, from a balance sheet perspective, they are borrowing from their home to invest more than 15%, which is not what Dave teaches.
sam henric no question though they are doing just fine.

We go to the beach of Seattle maybe once a summer. We don’t eat out, unless we count papa Murphy’s $12 Tuesday special. We aggressively recycle to have a small cushion for Christmas or birthday presents. It’s hard.
