IMPORTANT POST PATCH UPDATE: Lionheart stance finally actually works now, so the sections about all the weird counterplay stuff you have to do, you don't have to worry anymore. Now the mixup works as intended, in situations where are forced into lionheart with advantage frames, Lionheart 1 basically will beat the opponent if they try to press any button/do armour/try to duck, and once thats established then lionheart 1+2 is the guardbreak and you get guaranteed damage now. No more having to stance dance or abuse glitches(which has been patched out). The Mixups is now a proper mixup, rejoice!
I don’t even play TEKKEN 8 but I still sit through these hour long videos because I love how Rooflemonger teaches how to play all these characters 😂 thank you bro

@@lsv47 ub2 cancel does let you do sonic fang, but the timing is tighter cause you can't pre buffer anythihng cause you have to commit to the cancel vs df12 is mad easy so thats why I used that as the example instead
Your timing is perfect. I literally just started tekken and Steve caught my eyes so I picked him up. Being new to tekken it’s been very difficult because of how unique he is in general and i thought I doomed myself
I got King on tenryu cause of these guides (never played tekken before but other fighting games) thought i need to Pick someone Else cause variety. I watched this Guide a week ago and now im garyu with Steve. You guides are Amazing, i found you like 4 years ago and was never disappointed
Tekken 8 is the first in the series I've actually sat down to learn, nearly Garyu with Kazuya. Once i do that, Steve was the next character i wanted to pick up, so this should be helpful
I'm flame ruler at the moment, I've been playing Steve only since Tekken 6 , and I can tell you something about the character, it is all about reading the opponent, Steve has basically no tools compared to the rest of the characters, this character trains you the most on how to read the opponent.
Been waiting for another one of these! Other than Paul (and maybe Kuma), I haven’t been interested so I’m happy to see a Steve guide! I’m still waiting for someone cool like Lili, Hwoarang, Jin, Devil Jin, or Yoshi.
As a Steve main from Tekken 7, this is a really great guide for new players who want to get into the character in Tekken 8. Definitely sharing this with friends looking to learn the character, and I would honestly love to erase my memory on all the things I learned about Steve and learn him again with this video
Be wary of using ub + 3 to bait and evade Rage Art because it'll more often than not cancel the animation, lock you in place to eat that. Had it happen to many times. Great guide Rooflemonger!
Something to add; the backsway reposition grab is great when at the wall, as it can cause a wall hit that can lead into a short combo, specifically 1,1,2. You can then cancel this into another backsway into grab and repeat ad nauseum until they decide to duck/low attack or break the grab.
I love how tekken 8 brings soooo much new comers and it's amazing. I've played previous ones in the past but never sat down and learned the ins and outs but this one I did that and im glad I did.
As a Voldo main and someone who loves stance characters and wishes to get better with Steve, I've have to say," Impressive, very nice." Now all we need is Rooflemonger to convince Tekken Project to get Mike Tyson as a Tekken 8 guest character!!
It's a shame I already know this matchup pretty well. I really respect Steve players, I can tell they're working hard. An amazing Steve player is a sight to behold. I might give him a go myself, I really love this character. I might do Mac cosplay (Nintendo Punch Out).
5:54 I'm a beginner tekken player who play steve, and I just found out yesterday that, steve back 1 and then hold back to enter flicker stance, will let you duck [forward 3/4] faster compare to just back 1, allowing you to double ducking [forward 3/4 hold 3/4] and then launch them up [1] with more damage although if you just [back 1] and directly duck [forward 3/4] you can still continue the combo but it deal less damage, than the double ducking version
Yes I am a fairly new Steve player but back 1 should ALWAYS cancel into flicker as it allows for safe offense. And a like u said CH B1 > FLK allows for Ducking In blue spark 1, which gives bonus combo damage.
Plz plz plz can u do one for Bryan. I find him so interesting and having you break down his kit would really help make him approachable cause he's really intimidating from hearing how difficult he can be

Here we are with the Steve Fox Starter Guide! One thing i want to add is about the sway grab which reposition the enemy ( it is much better at the wall whenever the enemy touch the wall because of it you have +10 guarranteed , depending on the angle it can go to (+16 ~+22 )
Awesome video, but one thing about the backsway 1+2 grab, if you push them into a wall you can get some mad + frames, and even guaranteed damage. The amount of + frames kinda depends on how far away you are when you push them into it, further away you get more frames. Shinblade (like the #2 ranked Steve in the world) can get like 80+ damage off of just a wall shove near the wall, over 100 with heat.
I'm not sure what the right way to buff LNH is; being able to cancel out of it by holding back might make it too safe. Having a faster grab option than canceling into backsway 1+2 would let you deal with power crushes but not Rage Arts. The cancel into PKB is cool and useful, but it basically is an exploit behind a bit of a skill ceiling so it's not really intended and it may not be around forever.
