Nobody talks about how good the vocals sounds through this amp! Perfect and loud enough for rehearsal and small gigs. PA system in a small box. it's great!
Great demo! For me the de Da Capo wins it: clearer, cleaner , more balanced and natural, more separation of tone, less bass heavy. I think de da capo is a natural progression of the man behind the AER sound. Also i think it’s no coincidence that Tommy Emmanuel moved on to the da capo. That said i think it’s great that the demo wasn’t played on a Maton!!!
Well done, Ben. Great A-B-Comparison of two amps that need a direct listening one after another. Fingerstyle playing and strumming in a very dynamic way! In my opinion you've got to listen to this recordings several times. First, I was more impressed of the AER. I think it sounds more accentuated and pointed in the high and low frequencies. But after switching between the sections the Udo makes the match because of its warmth and balance over all.
Two months after.... I bought the DaCapo75 and I'm very impressed of its perfomance. All tested guitars sound very accurate like they do without amplification. I play a Furch Gc-CM and since I got the udo, I prefer practicing over the amp! The effects are good and useful in my opinion, but that's a matter of taste for sure. I contacted Udo Rössner and asked him about a footswitch to get the tap delay. He was very kind and interested in my music. Nice communication. By the way, I use a Boss FS-6 double footswitch, wich works very well with the amp without any noise-making. It's not a design-winner, but a very usefull feature.
I'm pleased that you chose an Epiphone to do this demo, it was a great help in me deciding to buy the Da Capo to go with my 'Inspired By Gibson' J200. The problem I had with my AER 60 was the compression which was too much, wheras the Da Capo sounds more 'open' and less squashed when strumming. 🤓
I agree that reverb would be enough. But hey, it doesnt hurt to have other options. Some people may enjoy the chorus. Edit: I find that the Udo has more sparkle in the high end, which I enjoy.
Right now I'm playing through a Fishman Loud Box Mini, 60 watts, 8" and a tweeter, two inputs (one is instrument only and the second input is instrument cable and a Mic input -all in one), reverb and chorus, 3 band EQ and D.I. out for $349 with a mic and a stand and a cable. It's loud! I also have an Epiphone Inspired Texan acoustic 6 string with a Fishman pickup built in...just like the guitar that he's playing here. BUT...tonight I'm playing my G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy (Natural) which is a hollow body Telecaster because it is so resonant acoustically that I decided to hear it through an acoustic amp (besides my Marshal JTM45 for electric guitars). If it had the same acoustic strings as my Insp. by Texan I am sure it would be really great acoustically!
Well my Da Capo 75 arrived today and I tried all my acoustic instruments through it, but I couldn't get what I was hoping for as the sound was better directly through my PA so I packed it up and returned it. Maybe I'm spoiled with my PA, but it sounded a lot better than through this amp, including effects, EQ everything. I sold my AER Compact 60 a few years ago and I guess I've learned how to get the best out of the PA since then. The good news is it saved me £776. 😊
Thank you for the great review - I really appreciate covering the features and the sounds, and the comparison between the two. Though I doubt I can judge much hearing it through the laptop speakers.
The AER does it for me as it projects more. Some nice guitar playing Ben - a good demo and good presentation. The Da Capo 75 still sounds good, very warm and natural sounding. I agree , chorus is more an electric guitar thing. That high pass filter is pretty 'savage'!
There is a certain wow factor when hearing the AER at first, but flipping back and forth the Da Capo seem more calm and pleasing to my ears. The AER has a bit more loudness factor going on.
10:20 having chorus as a built in effect makes no sense unless you can adjust the depth and speed of the chorus. It's like having a built in delay but not being able to adjust the delay setting.
I see the subtitle say "you're now listing to the direct out from the amp," and I giggle at the typo. Then I realize that I really am listing, and should sit up straighter.
I really don’t know why but I like the original sound of the AER 60 Watt better. Yes yes I know the same man designed both. The AER just makes me feel good and warm. I just feel a little left out in the cold with the De Capo.
Great guitar player, not much of an amp salesman. If he doesn’t like effects on acoustic that’s fine but I think the reverb, delay, and chorus add a little something to the sound and would be useful if playing live with another guitar player or for recording in the studio. You could layer parts on top of one another and create some interesting soundscapes. Very hard to differentiate between the two amps. This is one of those things you need to be in the room to hear. Tommy Emmanuel has used both of these amps live and blends the sounds of the amp and the PA to create a sound like I have never heard before. It feels like you are being washed in a wave of sound. Tommy has said he just wants one good clean sound live and he will do the rest with his hands. Cool amps but pretty expensive for the average player.
The best Acoustic tone can be achieved through an L R Baggs M1 Active through a solid state, non acoustic amp! A Marshal or Fender solid state combo. Tone Heaven! If you don't believe me try it, I've tried every combination of pickup/amp on the market!
AER is way nicer to my ears, fuller, warmer, but still lovely high clarity. The recording is way louder on the AER too so that could be fooling my ears.
Is the Capt. the only one who knows how to use the A/B footswitch? Seriously Skinny Ben, let's employ all that cool gear in the room that we can. You did say the comments would light up over your A/B statement, but I bet you didn't see that one coming... ;) On a side note, you sure do make that pos Epiphone sound great and finally..., finally! Someone says the full word Auxiliary. Everytime I hear someone say Aux as if that is the word itself I want to hit them with a dictionary....
Unfortunately no one sells either the AER 60/4 nor the Da Capo 75 here in Canada. I've emailed both AER and da Capo companies and gotten zero response. While I like both amps and after a bit of research including this video, the Da Capo 75 a bit more, without any support here in Canada, neither are an option. You'd think both companies would be looking to get into the market here. Lot's of acoustic players.
Okay, I got my UDO amp. Now, I need a guitar. Do, I get a Custom Shop Tommy Emanuel guitar. Or, a SantaCruz Guitar with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. I live in Santa Cruz. Everyone please help me out. Thank You ❤❤❤❤❤
You demoed this amp using an Epiphone with average pickups..sigh. Why didn't you use the Cole Clarks? That would have really shown this amps capability.
Thanks for the video friend! To be honest, the pickup sounds pretty bad, I would never listen to a recording with this sound or do a gig with this result. With that said, the AER makes the guitar sound a bit warmer and with more punch. If I would have a piezo-sounding guitar-rig I would go for the AER without doubt.
Seriously should have used a Maton like Tommy would recommend 😉 you don't seem to excited by what is hailed as the best ever acoustic amp. Use a better guitar next time
$899? You could buy any solid top cheap acoustic and an L R Baggs M1 and get a better tone than this, I've owned a £5000 Fylde and a £450 Sigma both fitted with an M1 both sounded the same through a solid state amp/PA, but be aware acoustics sound trash through a tube amp! Even with a great pickup!
Have been looking for an AMP for months now...my budget goes to about $1500. Problem is nobody is telling me what is the best for Vocals and (!) Acoustic (Martin D18 with K&K western mini) Thank you. Note: mostly playing in bars with 10/15 people.I am not a great guitarist and or singer.
Nobody talks about how good the vocals sounds through this amp! Perfect and loud enough for rehearsal and small gigs. PA system in a small box. it's great!
I'm not an instrumentalist so I was wondering about how vocals sound as well.
Great demo! For me the de Da Capo wins it: clearer, cleaner , more balanced and natural, more separation of tone, less bass heavy. I think de da capo is a natural progression of the man behind the AER sound. Also i think it’s no coincidence that Tommy Emmanuel moved on to the da capo. man what a beautiful tone in the intro!!! I also liked the camera shots, i should use the in my videos.
Really handy having the decibel metre display obscured.......not
I agree that reverb would be enough. But hey, it doesnt hurt to have other options. Some people may enjoy the chorus.
Edit: I find that the Udo has more sparkle in the high end, which I enjoy.
Much prefer the AER. Love Ben's playing, and expressiveness. We cant all afford high end gear, so a nice Epi and a good amp make a great combination.
I have tried both the AER & DaCapo & ended up buying the DaCapo. Better price & much better sound......Love DaCapo, don't leave home without it
This is the amp to get. Udo took his aer design to a new level with his new amp
Looks like another good option. Would liked to have heard the microphone inputs, with a mic-ed up guitar and even vocals...
Dreaming of acoustic shows! Cheers Ben!!

Sorry.... totally missed the review, I was too busy enjoying Ben’s playing.
There is a certain wow factor when hearing the AER at first, but flipping back and forth the Da Capo seem more calm and pleasing to my ears. The AER has a bit more loudness factor going on.
AER sounds more natural and more transparent . Love it

I prefer the AER compact 60-4 sound, not s o harsh on upper tones.
I love a good acoustic amp expecially that one
El Da Capo no esta mal, suena bien por su precio, AER es el mejor para mi suena en todas sus frecuencias, gran video!!!
It may not have been the intention but think you might sell a few Compact 60s after this.
Honestly, I primarily view acoustic paradiso to watch and listen to Ben play. Rarely do I give a flip about the gear he is demo-ing. 😂
Me too.
Great vid as always
Thanks for tuning in Iain!
Where has big Ben gone? Who is this thin imposter? Great show Ben, we need more info about acoustic amps! Thank you.
Can't here a diference with a mi mic in front - the DC95 DI-out seems to be slightly better. I need to here this live in action
Listing? I'm pretty sure I was quite upright while watching the video. I think I'd have been aware if I was listing to one side or the other.
I love my AER 60/4, but really wish it had a bit more low end. I wonder how this amp is on low end?

Hi Ben ... nice playing as always, both sound nice but I prefer the AER it has a better lower end sound. What mic are you using.
I like the compact 60,, sounds fuller
The AER is a clear winner for me, it has more warmth.
I love my old Ashdown radiator
Looks like AER wins the day here. At least to my humble ears, just more body and finesse I think.
The best Acoustic tone can be achieved through an L R Baggs M1 Active through a solid state, non acoustic amp! A Marshal or Fender solid state combo. Tone Heaven! If you don't believe me try it, I've tried every combination of pickup/amp on the market!
Even direct into a PA the L R Baggs sounds amazing as it has a built in pre amp!
AER hands down
AER is way nicer to my ears, fuller, warmer, but still lovely high clarity. The recording is way louder on the AER too so that could be fooling my ears.
Is the Capt. the only one who knows how to use the A/B footswitch? Seriously Skinny Ben, let's employ all that cool gear in the room that we can.

AER! round and cleanear sound as I like it
I think I prefer the AER. It sounds a bit rounder and fuller to my ears.
Seems like the AER was way louder than the DeCapo
AER wins outright! More bass, more body, simply far more accurate and pleasant to listen to..
Where is it made hopefully not in the Eu, sounds great tho, great video as always Ben.
Nice playing. AER for me.
How does this compare to the Hughes and Kettner ERA 1?
Unfortunately no one sells either the AER 60/4 nor the Da Capo 75 here in Canada. I've emailed both AER and da Capo companies and gotten zero response. Do you have a review of the AER Compact 60 v4... as i cant find it in the Anderson library...🤔... tia...
Okay, I got my UDO amp. Now, I need a guitar. Do, I get a Custom Shop Tommy Emanuel guitar. Or, a SantaCruz Guitar with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. I live in Santa Cruz. Everyone please help me out. Thank You ❤❤❤❤❤
AER for me
I think the compact 60 is marginally warmer….
You demoed this amp using an Epiphone with average pickups..sigh. Why didn't you use the Cole Clarks? That would have really shown this amps capability.
in my ears the de Da Capo has the more natural sound - for me that is better ...
Chorus on acoustic guitar? Instant 12-string emulation!
The AER sounds scratchy compared to the smoother Capo 75. Capo wins.
Seriously should have used a Maton like Tommy would recommend 😉 you don't seem to excited by what is hailed as the best ever acoustic amp. Use a better guitar next time
Ben has scarily fast fingers.

AER has more bottom end.
