I was at this game and had a great view from the north upper deck of Carter's run for the first TD. 2 USC guys had a perfect angle on him and somehow he ran around them. Never seen anything like it before or since in 33 years of having season tickets. He should have been knocked out of bounds at the 20.
Our defense was amazing 👏 that year as well!!! They were on the field all damn day in a good way though, because the offense scored so damn fast all year long!!! WE ARE
It's been a long time so people may not remember.... Kerry Collins was very, very average the year before as a Junior. The change in him from Jr. to Sr. in terms of improvement in one year, is hard to rival in College Football history.
Been looking for this game for yrs. I was 3 rows up right in front of the SC cheerleaders and Lynn Swann did the pre game right next to me in the stands. By halftime the older SC fans were in awe of our offense. Many saying it was the best they ever saw. I long for those great days
I was a Junior at Penn State and was in the student section. This offense was second to none. They didn't need to set up the pass with the run, or set up the run with the pass. They could easily do both. And their defense was good enough to stop an opponent when it counted. They should have won a 3rd outright national title that year. Nebraska won the title that year. Which was a bunch of BS. The people who voted felt bad for Osborne because he never won one. If Penn State played Nebraska that year for the title, Penn State would have won by at least 10 points.
Joe got cheated out of more national titles than anyone could ever imagine!!! The greatest thing about him was though, he would say we beat everyone on our schedule, I don't care what the so called voters say!!! He never kissed ass and lobbied for votes!!! He even told president Nixon, with all due respect you can shove a consolation trophy 🏆 up your ass!!! Lol 🏈
@@Briguy75 Beating a ranked OSU 63-14 was impressive. But, unfortunately #3 Nebraska curb stomped #2 Colorado 24-7 that same day. I still think PSU would have beat Nebraska that year. And, I’m not even a PSU fan…
@@Briguy75 this is an eye test. I think it’s more impressive to beat a number 2 team by 17. Colorado’s only loss that year. Nebraska held that high powered offense to 7 points. That same offense put 55 points on Wisconsin.
@@clintbeastwood3797 Agree to disagree. I guess there is nothing penn state could have done to keep that number 1 ranking, which is a shame. They deserved at least a share of a national championship.
@@gsnicholas8522 the actual story is that Penn State was contractually obligated to play in the rose bowl as big ten champ…and had to play the pac 10 champ😊
That was the most balanced & most dominant offense in college football history. They had 5 teams down by 30 at the half. Didn't just score 30. They LED BY 30. Two of them top 10 all-time programs in Ohio St. & USC (who both finished ranked in T20) by 35-0. They averaged 250 YPG in both rushing & passing despite not playing the starting ball handlers on O in the 4th qtr. in at least 6 games. The game that cost them the unanimous national title was Colorado's lucky hail mary win over Michigan. If Michigan wins, then the win by Neb. is reversed because PSU beats the un-beaten No. 2 team & not Neb. Also, the Big 10 was very good that year & better than the the Big 12.
Was there a reason USC played at Penn State in back to back years? Seems odd USC would schedule both games on the road. I'm wondering if something odd happened to make them end up playing both games at Penn State.
Bruce Coslet said that before blowing his knee out, Carter looked like the real deal in that 1995 training camp. I always thought that Carter and Marshall Faulk were very very similiar tailbacks and that Carter would have been a star.
People forget how unimpressive Kerry Collins was in 1993. Yeah he looked like he had a terrific arm and size in 1993 but he was very erratic and for every great throw he made make an equally terrible throw or decision. So, with that in mind, we didnt know what to expect from the Penn State offense in 1994, we knew Ki-jana Carter was for real, that was for sure but aside from that we expected a 10-2 or 9-3 season but when I saw this game and how that offense went down the field time and time again at will, holy shit man. They had 353 yards of offense at the half to USC's 70 yards lol, and this was in 1994 when teams still preferred to run it rather than pass it in college. Everyone in this offense was stellar that day, Freddie Scott may have been the best player on the field that day.
Our offensive line and the fullbacks Whitman and Milne were beasts!!!!
The next time USC visits State College it will be as a member of the Big Ten
The 5 th time snubbed
I like how Penn State basically just gave up trying to score in the second half. This team's dominance was really underappreciated.
I remember this game. The week of the game my brother in-law said Penn State was better than Nebraska.
Nobody....beats this team. That year. Miss Keith Jackson on big game calls. To me, always the voice of big time football.
It was so much fun watching this Penn State Offense. They were epic!
Penn State did THIS to a USC team that also made a January bowl game (and ended up scoring 55 points in that bowl)
@@chrisuncleahmad666 I think they beat Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl that year if I remember correctly.

Penn State faced the Top 2 teams in the Pac-10 in '94 (this and Oregon in the Rose Bowl) and beat both teams handily.
USC won their bowl game decisively for what it’s worth

Penn St and Nebraska would have been a great match up

I've been loving these condensed games. Please keep them coming! Thanks.
Thanks for tuning it! I'll keep rolling them out!
Sad that this 12-0 team was snubbed out of at least a share of the National Championship by a biased media. What else is new.
Our beloved Nits with more undefeated seasons than National Titles, by far :(

Things were different back then. There was no playoff system. Your chances depended on voters.
Thank You! My first of 3 games live in '94, including Rutgers and Michigan st. Beautiful day, and a sign that this team was the real deal.
PSU was the best team in 1994. No one that year was slowing that offense down. What screwed them was Michigan and OSU had average years.
Sad that they dropped to # 2 in one poll despite a 63-14 thrashing of a ranked Ohio State team :(

Screwed outta #1 Rankings and never got a shot at Nebraska. That would have been a game..Garth Brooks offered up 10 million to get them to play.

I can't fathom why USC went to Penn st back to back years and no home and home.
PSU went to USC in 90 and 91.

3:34 Looks like the two USC defenders would cut him off... he just runs right around them.. never touched him..
