9:40 - The portuguese guy, Leo, has a YT channel dedicated to teaching Portuguese to foreigners in general, not only English speakers. He also speaks Spanish (his mother is argentinian) and Italian fluently. He formed a group with other youtubers (who also have language-themed channels) called Liga Romanica, which includes Davide from Italy, Elena from Spain and Elisa from France, dedicated to everything related to romanic languages. 🙂

Yeah, but Paris can't really be called Mediterranean Europe. Whereas where I'm living, in the south of France, near the Spanish border, we really feel connected to the way of life of all these countries in this video. And It's always nice to travel to these countries. We experience some slight culture difference while still feeling a bit at home. The people are really welcoming. Only the language barrier can cause some problems, as not everyone is speaking a good English.

In Portugal they tend to speak the best English in Southern Europe. Three reasons, 1) they do no 'dubb' films and movies, 2) they started teaching English in School before most or all of the rest of South Europe 3) They have a VERY long history with England. The Anglo-Portuguese Alliance (or Aliança Luso-Britânica), ratified at the Treaty of Windsor in 1386 is the oldest alliance in the world which is still in force.

I'm Italian, but also half scandinavian, so I have a good experience of food all over Europe.. I think we can all agree that, generally speaking, Southern Europe cuisine is hands down superior: greek food is unbelievable, italian food has a reputation that preceeds it, spanish and portuguese food is awesome, and french food is also very good (except for snails, sorry not sorry). Moreover, even when elaborate, it is generally healthier (especially italian and greek): NOTHING beats the mediterranean diet.

In Spain we eat late out of habit, but also because of work. I have worked in a clothing store for 5 years that closed at 10 at night and in a supermarket that closed at 11. Between getting home and preparing dinner, imagine what time you eat. Now I work in a store that closes at 8:30 but it's the same, you come home and do everything, you don't eat dinner before 10.

You want to hear a funny irony. This is coming from MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE and it's not a fact, it's just what I lived.
I live in Austria now, but I lived in Madrid and Barcelona before moving to Vienna. I come from Venezuela.
I witnessed the most racism and xenophobia while living in Spain. I'm a white Latino, one time this guy was going off about the negratas and sudacas (black people and south Americans) and I replied: I'm Latino. His answer was: well, but you're white so it's all good. Another time I was with my now wife (back then we were starting to date) and a guy asked where she was from and when she replied he immediately shook her hand and did the Nazi salute, while saying the words heil Hi....
The irony comes from the fact that at the end, Spain is the "northern African/south European" country. I found it so interesting that this country, with so much middle eastern and African influence is the most racist I've been in so far in the EU.
