Honestly jokes aside. I feel like at least in the older versions of the show the relation between ash and team rocket is positive. If they really wanted to they could. James is a very good trainer and has a very similar knack to connecting with Pokémon as Ash does. James is a genuinely nice person and was influenced by his past and jessy aspired to me a model some sort of fashion celeb and kinda ended up in the dark side of the Pokémon world do to there pasts and aspirations. James could have been the main character if he didn’t go down the team rocket rout 100 percent.

To be fair, Ash’s Pikachu did do some impressive feats like beating an Regice and Dragonite. Team Rocket didn’t off Ash for nothing. If anything if they targeted a Digimon and its Tamer, they would’ve risked doing it for nothing since in Survive, if a Tamer dies, so does their Digimon.

The reason Ash's Pikachu is special is because we've seen it do things that regular Pikachu cannot do. Learned Egg Moves naturally. Took out entire hoards at Lv. 5. Is able to take in outside sources of electricity as his own energy. Can use certain Z-moves that other Pikachu cannot. The major drawbacks as a cost for all these buffs are every so often his power level seemingly resets, and he also cannot (or at least refuses to) evolve.
This conversation by itself tells so much about Team Rocket and about the meaning of their characters existence. They never had a meaning to exist to start with, but that's what made them slowly become the greatest part of the entire series.

Misty never cared about Ash's well-being, as long as he was still around to pay her back for the bike that Pikachu roasted. Not until the 2nd movie and the Orange Islands saga tried to -bullshit- tease a relationship between the two (which even then no one cares about because it's not Season 1 and they're both filler by not existing in any game).
The anime applies more logic than the games. Just a bit more. Like, in the game, you can’t use an attack to block another, but in the anime you can tell your Pokémon to do something like parrying an Energy Ball with Iron Tail. They can even use physics in a fight. Electric attack? Use a Steel Type move, like Iron Tail, and ground yourself to protect yourself from the shock.

They really could’ve had whole-ass functioning rosters if they hadn’t kept sending them back to Team Rocket or just releasing them. The boy resets his team every time he visits a new region; overwhelming him and maybe a starter-wielding sidekick or two wouldn’t’ve taken too much effort. Definitely would’ve gone better than giving them a gumball machine that dispensed randos they had no prior experience or training with. Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and it’s probably an odd gripe to have anyway.
Kinda funny you'd bring that up, cuz there's one manga series that basically gives them a backstory. They dropped out of school to become pokemon trainers, but they never really succeeded, and team rocket was the only option for employment they had.

Speculation in my part, but if team Rocket the first time caught pikachu then Pikachu wouldn’t have been worth that much, so are they trying to catch Pikachu now because of the new abilities and power or is it just a personal vendetta against Ash and Pikachu since they lost to them even when they were weak and now feel they have to prove themselves competent enough to catch this one Pokémon who they let slip through their fingers multiple times?
Since there are only spam bots above me, here's why: Jessie, James (and Meowth?) were originally wanted fugitives for pulling off heist after heist of other people's Pokémon in whatever town it was. Ash came into the PokéCenter with Pikachu badly damaged, there were plenty of other Pikachu in there, and they helped Pikachu get better or something, anyway... The Team Rocket crew came in to rob the PokéCenter, and Ash's Pikachu was shocked by all the other Pikachu which ended up giving Ash's Pikachu phenomenal electric powers. Ash's Pikachu had such a big Thunderbolt attack that this Team Rocket went flying across town (not sure if they actually blasted away like always yet). Logically (plus the electrical damage to their brains), they saw firsthand that this Pikachu was super rare and powerful, so they've continued to hunt it to earn Giovanni's endless praise and approval
Now? I’m pretty sure Pikachu is a lot more valuable. I mean, I’m pretty sure Pikachu is the one electric type in the anime to actually damage a ground type with an electric move. In addition to that he’s just pretty strong in general. Sure, he lost to a level 5 Snivy but it was genuinely just for plot reasons, as well as the fact that Black & White was meant to be a soft reboot for the anime.
I think we know what’s special about this Pikachu, it learnt Volt Tackle in Gen 3 without being bred as a Pichu. Anyone who can pull off something like that surely must be worth stealing… WHAT DO YA MEAN HE FORGOT IT!
Always hated that in the pokemon games Pokémon forgot a move when learning a new one like they should of had it do that when said pokemon evolved then it forgot its old moves in my opinion even if terrible my opinion is
@Taylor Ford That's one thing I really liked about Arceus. You could only equip 4 moves at a time, but you could swap between all learned moves whenever you wanted outside of battle.
Aren't they after Ash's Pikachu because he's super strong? And I feel like I'm hallucinating this but at one point they actually did consider bringing just another Pikachu to Giovanni, but decided against it because Giovanni would notice that it's not that special. Heck the only reason they even got fixated with Ash's Pikachu was because of its strength. Prior to that they literally laughed at Ash when he thought they were gonna steal his Pikachu and said they were not interested in a common Pokémon like a Pikachu. But then a bunch of Pikachus ran a hamster wheel of sorts and supercharged Ash's Pikachu and that's when they were in awe of this one. Yeah this was Team Rocket's first episode where they attacked a Pokémon care center where Ash takes Pikachu after the latter saved him from some wild Pidgeots!
Let's be real, Ash will have fully recovered by the end of the day. He's straight up recovered from death before, he can do it again. Plus, poison moves have been shown to have very little effect on him.
Reminds me of an episode of Mao Mao. "We jumped outta the bushes and tied them up, how is THIS the plan that worked?!" The post-win existential dread here really took it up a notch. 11/10.

To recap for those who forgot or those who are new: They want specifically *his* Picachu because he’s REALLY powerful. The best way to describe it is it’s as if he was from the Uzamaki clan with their large reservoir of chakra. While all the other Pukachu are basic. Heck, Ash proves it time and time again.
The very premise of the video would never happen in the show, but Jesse and James sobbing over the realization that they killed a child over next to nothing while Meowth wonders if he's going to Pokemon hell feels very in character for all of them.
For those who might be confused The last two had a issue where Frames & text from 1:27 to 1:58 weren't showing up, it was just stuck on that single meowth frame for almost a minute and the audio was still playing, kinda creepy tbh
Yeah, they could reasonably kill Ash. As they are criminals and going off when they said once before they teamed up they were competent criminals when not together. But I think having three criminals who are not completely heartless what made the team bad. Because Meowth is at least moderately competent and James seems to be a decent Pokémon trainer who would probably not join team rocket if it wasn’t for his forced marriage.

I mean, James does have a point. How many times have Ash and the good guys, including important figures like gym leaders, legitimately launched them into orbit when they had no way of knowing where or how they'd land?
True, but considering that they come back the next day despite being launched into orbit and coming back completely unharmed I think they stopped caring after the first few times. And plus with Team Rocket being launched into the sky they would have no idea where they landed after they come back down.

Honestly jokes aside. I feel like at least in the older versions of the show the relation between ash and team rocket is positive. If they really wanted to they could. James is a very good trainer and has a very similar knack to connecting with Pokémon as Ash does. James is a genuinely nice person and was influenced by his past and jessy aspired to me a model some sort of fashion celeb and kinda ended up in the dark side of the Pokémon world do to there pasts and aspirations. James could have been the main character if he didn’t go down the team rocket rout 100 percent.

To be fair, Ash’s Pikachu did do some impressive feats like beating an Regice and Dragonite. Team Rocket didn’t off Ash for nothing.
If anything if they targeted a Digimon and its Tamer, they would’ve risked doing it for nothing since in Survive, if a Tamer dies, so does their Digimon.

The reason Ash's Pikachu is special is because we've seen it do things that regular Pikachu cannot do.
Learned Egg Moves naturally. Took out entire hoards at Lv. 5. Is able to take in outside sources of electricity as his own energy. Can use certain Z-moves that other Pikachu cannot.
The major drawbacks as a cost for all these buffs are every so often his power level seemingly resets, and he also cannot (or at least refuses to) evolve.
So it was worth it. No regrets, goodbye Ash

Misty never cared about Ash's well-being, as long as he was still around to pay her back for the bike that Pikachu roasted. Not until the 2nd movie and the Orange Islands saga tried to -bullshit- tease a relationship between the two (which even then no one cares about because it's not Season 1 and they're both filler by not existing in any game).

The anime applies more logic than the games. Just a bit more.
Like, in the game, you can’t use an attack to block another, but in the anime you can tell your Pokémon to do something like parrying an Energy Ball with Iron Tail.
They can even use physics in a fight. Electric attack? Use a Steel Type move, like Iron Tail, and ground yourself to protect yourself from the shock.

You know, if the trio applied themselves, and worked with cohesion, they'd probably make great trainers/challengers themselves.
They really could’ve had whole-ass functioning rosters if they hadn’t kept sending them back to Team Rocket or just releasing them. The boy resets his team every time he visits a new region; overwhelming him and maybe a starter-wielding sidekick or two wouldn’t’ve taken too much effort. Definitely would’ve gone better than giving them a gumball machine that dispensed randos they had no prior experience or training with.
Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and it’s probably an odd gripe to have anyway.
Kinda funny you'd bring that up, cuz there's one manga series that basically gives them a backstory. They dropped out of school to become pokemon trainers, but they never really succeeded, and team rocket was the only option for employment they had.

Speculation in my part, but if team Rocket the first time caught pikachu then Pikachu wouldn’t have been worth that much, so are they trying to catch Pikachu now because of the new abilities and power or is it just a personal vendetta against Ash and Pikachu since they lost to them even when they were weak and now feel they have to prove themselves competent enough to catch this one Pokémon who they let slip through their fingers multiple times?

Since there are only spam bots above me, here's why:
Jessie, James (and Meowth?) were originally wanted fugitives for pulling off heist after heist of other people's Pokémon in whatever town it was. Ash came into the PokéCenter with Pikachu badly damaged, there were plenty of other Pikachu in there, and they helped Pikachu get better or something, anyway...
The Team Rocket crew came in to rob the PokéCenter, and Ash's Pikachu was shocked by all the other Pikachu which ended up giving Ash's Pikachu phenomenal electric powers. Ash's Pikachu had such a big Thunderbolt attack that this Team Rocket went flying across town (not sure if they actually blasted away like always yet).
Logically (plus the electrical damage to their brains), they saw firsthand that this Pikachu was super rare and powerful, so they've continued to hunt it to earn Giovanni's endless praise and approval

I mean, I’m pretty sure Pikachu is the one electric type in the anime to actually damage a ground type with an electric move. In addition to that he’s just pretty strong in general. Sure, he lost to a level 5 Snivy but it was genuinely just for plot reasons, as well as the fact that Black & White was meant to be a soft reboot for the anime.

I think we know what’s special about this Pikachu, it learnt Volt Tackle in Gen 3 without being bred as a Pichu. Anyone who can pull off something like that surely must be worth stealing… WHAT DO YA MEAN HE FORGOT IT!

Aren't they after Ash's Pikachu because he's super strong? And I feel like I'm hallucinating this but at one point they actually did consider bringing just another Pikachu to Giovanni, but decided against it because Giovanni would notice that it's not that special. Heck the only reason they even got fixated with Ash's Pikachu was because of its strength. Prior to that they literally laughed at Ash when he thought they were gonna steal his Pikachu and said they were not interested in a common Pokémon like a Pikachu. But then a bunch of Pikachus ran a hamster wheel of sorts and supercharged Ash's Pikachu and that's when they were in awe of this one. Yeah this was Team Rocket's first episode where they attacked a Pokémon care center where Ash takes Pikachu after the latter saved him from some wild Pidgeots!

Yeah, they could reasonably kill Ash. As they are criminals and going off when they said once before they teamed up they were competent criminals when not together. But I think having three criminals who are not completely heartless what made the team bad. Because Meowth is at least moderately competent and James seems to be a decent Pokémon trainer who would probably not join team rocket if it wasn’t for his forced marriage.
