    Might seem like an overstatement, but Malayalam cinema was simply the best in the world in 2024....Just select all your favourite films from other industries combined, including Hollywood on one side and select all your favourite films from Malayalam on the other and try to choose a side. We will easily pick up Malayalam cinema.

      No way you just said that. Dune Part 2 alone overshadows Mollywood.

      But look at the budget, many movies would be made by the budget of 1950s hollywood budget..

      @arunrajeev2634 Lol
      Dune 2 is a great film. Lisan Al Ghaib speech of Timothee Chalamet was 🔥
      But that was it about Hollywood.
      Look at the rest of the films. Challengers, Substance, etc. are considered as the best films of 2024.
      Meanwhile, Mollywood has world-class films like:
      All we imagine as lights, Aavesham,Kishkindakaandam,Aadu Jeevitham, Bramayugam,Manjummel Boys, Ullozhukku,etc
      Also, cult/experiment films like Anchakalakkokkan,Marco, Premalu,Gaganachari,etc
      And good films like:
      Thalavan, ARM, Anweshipin Kandethum, Sookshmadarshini,Golam,etc...
      And you say, Dune 2 will overshadow all of them. Just ask yourself whether you are going to select Dune 2 and other average flicks instead of all the great Mollywood films listed above, and you will get it.
      If it was 2019, your statement would have made sense because Foreign cinema had masterpieces ranging from Parasite and Joho Rabbit to 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to Joker and Uncut gems, all of them much more memorable and future classics than Dune 2.

    • @arunrajeev2634
      @arunrajeev2634 11 дней назад

      @@abdurahimannoushad9195 The ones you listed aren't world class films. Sure, some of them have style, I'll give them that. If you seriously consider Aavesham and Marco as oscar worthy then I'd have to question your movie choices. Dune 2 is an almost perfect adaptation while Aadujeevitham takes many creative liberties from the book and hence making it repetitive. Have you seen Nosferatu yet? It's in my top 3 this year.

    I think the Hema report should be talked about as a positive for Malayalam Film Industry cause the fact that so many people came out and were able to tell the old powerful actors trying to act like mafia of the industry to stop and be accountable is great.
    This definitely happens in bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, kannada etc film industries we just haven't had any such report supporting victims.
    And ofcourse we need to not forget about this report until there's actual change and accountability.

    Very well researched and done video! One issue that I have a slightly different take is on the Hema committee report. Kerala is a pioneer in that front - no one can be under the illusion that such workplace practices do not exist in Bollywood or other film industries or other industries. However Kerala, the progressive state that it is in in many ways, had the courage to conduct such an exercise albeit with delays in releasing thr report.
    Other excellent movies in 2024 were Attam and Rifle Club which released last month.

    Very few know or underestimate the depth of experimental mentality of Malayalam movie industry & the culture mindset power of Keralite as audience. Decade's ago 1984 India's first 3D filim was produced by this very Malayalam Filim Industry. Media or new gen people thinks 2013 or 2014 is the only success time for Malayalam movies industry.. but Keralites knows well .. every year minimum one master piece will be produced in this industry..
    For eg.. Guru, oru vadakkan vera gada,Adaminte makan abu,Manichitra tazhu,Salt & pepper..etc etc list is endless even in Black & white movies too.
    To get a bigger picture of how Malayalam industry wasn't a one year success lets compare a well renowned &famous bollywood ( Hindi Movie industry) actor Mr Amitabh Bachchan with Malyalam movie industry actor. Mr rprem Nazir.
    Prem Nazir had over 400 hits and 50 blockbusters in his career, while Amitabh Bachchan has 56 hits.
    Prem Nazir starred in over 700 + films(ie a world record too),while Amitabh Bachchan has worked in fewer films..less than 300.
    Prem Nazir's box office record is considered unbreakable.
    Prem Nazir is considered to have been bigger than Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in terms of stardom.
    Even Prem Nazir as a hero,he was in 400+ movie.
    Prem Nazir has another record for playing opposite the same heroine ( Sheela) for 110 movies
    This is just one actor. There are lot of actor's in Malayalam easily surpass the stardom of other movie industry..like Mohanlal, Mamooty,Jagathi, Adoor fasi, etc etc same goes for actress..Sheela,Sharada,Sukumari,Shobhana,Kaviyoorponnamma etc etc
    List goes on & on.. literally endless yet these Keralites stay humble as if they don't know their real value.

    Malayalam always had good content oriented cinema because our cinema grew out of Drama - predominantly leftist ideology driven - which always took up social subjects and aimed towards social reform. Our best writers, poets (who wrote songs), actors who graduated from drama and directors were heavily influenced by new wave European and Soviet movies. In a sense, Malayalam movies were always good except for the period it tried to imitate others to make "masala" movies.

    • @newbie4789
      @newbie4789 11 дней назад +1

      Yeah. His points are very valid . The Malayalam industry was small and growing slowly from the beginning. It hit it's first peak in 80's. 80's malayalam films are still great to watch. I watched Thaniyavarthanam yesterday and... It's impressive how a film set almost 40 years ago can still make me feel so unsettling.
      90's saw a lot of commercialization but movies were still story focused. But in the 2000s, we had a lot... A LOT of just masala Focused movies. They initially got the reception they expected seeing Tamil and Telugu but I think by 2010s, people hated those films. And then we had the new wave 🔥🔥🔥

    But it remains a wish not fulfilled
    Btw, Bilal would be Sushin Shyam 's musical masterpiece ( like Anirudh 's score in Vikram)

    Excellent narration.. Bro..👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️
    I have a point to add. When you refer to sustainsble business models, you have to understand the dynamics of the industry. Though we say "Mollywood" as a whole, it is not a kind of industry that is led or supervised by a single person or a group of people. If you have money and desire to produce a movie, any one can become a producer. People easily get obsessed with this fascinating world of glamor and fame, and jumps into it, without having proper understanding. Often without a proper plot/script and also may lack skill/competancy to be a part of it. This attributes to 80% of the failures. Rest 20% may be bacause of poor marketing (more often unable to cater it to the targetted audience), unconvensional plots not accepted well by audience or competition with other contemporary movies released together.
    So the industry as a whole cannot be blamed for the 700 Cr loss incurred from majority of the 200+ films produced in 2024, and it is nearly impossible to set a common business strategy in such types of industries😊
    At the same time, the better part of it is that we have many good film makers in the malayalam mainstream, who deliver good films in terms of quality and content time and again❤❤❤

    Malayalam cinema never had a bad period, i believe. You started watching it after ott came.
    The audience here are more intellectual than any other audiences. We dont entertain the masala mass kind of movies in our industry rather enjoy watching it on other industries like tamil and telugu. Most of the audience here started watching movies from other languages like Tamil English Hindi and Telugu from childhood itself. Only Kannada industry being introduced here in Kerala through ott.
    We had our best movies long before and you people only started noticing it after covid.

    I think You are Just a Fan of Ashiq Abhu and Amal Neerdh 😂😂😂😂.
    They got nothing to do with the change..
    Amal neerdh Just Copied Hollywood-Bollywoood Popcorn-Masala Fliq style. Same with Ashiq Abhu. Except he didn't got any style like Amal neerdh ....
    To me
    - Change became visible though Vineeth Sreenivasan's Malarvadi Arts Club , a Simple Clichéd School Magazine Story can be a Hit. Without Fights , itemdance , starpower.... Many film in Bulk came though that Approach
    - New Technicians who Put their best even A Simple for an Average Movie. while Average Movie in Other Industries including Bollywood look Ridiculous or ugly.
    - Producers who isn't Just a Money guy.. They too are artists , technicians....(You could give credit Amal neeradh and ashiq abhu for that 😂 ) That is the main point. While Other. That's what seperat Malayalam and others especially Tamil and Bollywood.
    Ps - Telugu's Problem is hit of Non Quality Movies and Casteism 🤮
