your videos are very helpful. I did buy a reborn from ebay, took me almost 6 months to save for one as a way of therapy for my chronic pain. She had a horrible paint job and even worse hair. I also had to change her body because when I took her diaper off it was black!! To add to my disappointment, when I clipped off her neck, the glue to hold her hair in was wet and goopy. I have spent hours cleaning her out and have watched hours of micro rooting and your video has been very very helpful. Although this is my first time rooting, I am having to root heavy to cover up the mistakes of the artist. Do you have any advice for me on how much to root and how to do the swirl? Thank you so much, Christy
Carmen, maybe you van draw the eyebrow on paper. That way we will be able to see very clearly what you mean when you say little arrown and such. We could not see any specific stokes on the brow during the video. Thanks! Also could you go over the painting video with the mottling and creases as well as when you add any details, in other words an a to z on painting the Carmen Way!!! LoL!!! Thanks so much!
***** Thanks Carmen, you have been on my mind! I was wondering how things were going for you and your Husband and Son? I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! I will be looking to see you on the RUclips soon!! Oh, and on the Forum in BB!! Debbie G.
Thanks for getting back to me .. Do you know of any good air dry paints.. Because I don't really want to set the paints in the oven ..at the moment I'm using special care nursery air dry paints but I'm finding that it rubs off
+charlotte white I've never tried air dry but I would love to one day. I hear that it rubs off for a lot of people and that it is really shiny. One woman actually uses folk art acrylic paints watered down.
+charlotte white The key to air dry paints is priming your kit, sealing them well and making sure they have plenty of time to cure. I use Miracle Blend, but I hear that SCN is quite good too. After sealing with my matte varnish, I let it cure for 48-72 hours before rooting. (I made the mistake of rooting right away on my first and the paint was rubbing off) Ideally, you should let your finished baby cure fore about 2 weeks before it will be handled a lot or have a lot of clothing changes.
Hi Carmen. Your voice is so soothing! I am struggling with eyebrows and am hoping you did a video on paper so we could see better. I think I have painted eyebrows and wiped them off at least 100 times. :O( So stressful! If you did a video of the eyebrow on paper and I missed it could you please link me to it. Thanks so much! Kelly
You don't even need the varnish. That is just a choice but if you do I like the the genisis and if you buy the pre mixed kit it usually comes with it but I use the genisis heat set matte varnish and I put it on last. It's ok to ask me. i don't mind!
I will try to say it all but I might forget something. Get a beginner set of pre-mixed Genesis heat set paints. Also an eyebrow pre mixed set..these are easist for a beginner. The sets come with all the paint you need. You need brushes and cosmetic sponges and a sea sponge. YOu need odorless thinner. A cheap kit to start with because you will make mistakes lol. Good mohair if you are going to root it and rooting needles. All of this is on bountiful baby. If your baby has open eyes you need eyes and lashes. You need tacky glue and e6000 to glue the hair and eyes in. You use the tacky glue for the eyelashes. To build the baby you need fine glass beads, cable ties, and poly-fil and poly pellets and nylons. You might want to go on Ebay and buy a beginner kit. It includes most of this. If I think of anything else I will let you know. Good luck and don't feel bad if you mess up the baby. I messed up 5 while I was learning!
One last question, if I order a kit from bountiful babies will I have to buy the body separately or will it already come with the kit?(sorry i'm just trying to make sure I'm prepared)

I use acetone but some people say that is a bad idea. it works for me though.
Ok thanks for getting back to me ..
And one more question, is it ok if I just paint the reborns without a matte varnish or air dry varnish, or will that affect how my reborns turn out?

The first few babies I sold had no varnish had the people love them!

I'm almost sure that would turn out orangey. What I did was buy a brow kit and it had 4 colors. I will mix the brow brown with a chocolate brown.
