I just became aware of you guys a week ago. You guys were playing at Mr. Beery's, and my friend's band (Indus Valley Kings) were playing there too; I wasn't able to attend, but I saw King Bastard on the lineup and I looked you up, and instantly became a fan. This is the type of music that appeals to me: dark, slow, thick, heavy and sludgy, but I also love how you included a spacey, psychedelic, cerebral element to it. Even luv the album cover (skull in the space helmet, and the colors) and the background space-themed audio clips. I plan on buying the CD, and look forward to seeing you guys live. If I can't catch you at the Bay Shore show (Sept. 9th), then asap...keep up the great work !
Question on the guitar gear too....does the guitarist (not sure who might respond) always use a 7 string, or sometimes a 6 string, and what tunings do you use, if you don't mind me asking. I also have a bunch of questions about your guitar pedal board---I'm dying to know what key components you use to get that spacey sound, for example, at the end of last track on the album. I'm sure you have some sort of digital delay in addition to many other pedals, but any info you could provide would be cool; looking to make some similar sounds....thanks !
I used to use a 6-string (entirely on this album), but we have been writing some new stuff with a 7 string. Now that we play some of it live, its just easier to travel with one guitar that can do everything. Still miss using the Gibson though... we tune in (F)CFA#D#GC. For that spacey sound, the TC Electronic Flashback (on the "tape" setting) gets the job done. I also use an MXR Phase 90 and Uni-Vibe to add more chaos into the mix.

Love this, really my taste in doom. So heavy and atmospheric, and the little blast of black metal style is great. Gives me some Ufomammut vibes.
