I am a huge Sheng Yilun fan and I am here because of him. He is such a versatile actor. His performance as Yujin in Oh My General was nothing short of amazing. Who said one had to act like a monkey to be funny. He has perfect features and how he used his beautiful expressive eyes to telegraph the emperor's thinking and feeling was super. What a magnificent actor! He also has a magnificent figure and looks great in whatever clothes or costume he had on. The costume here was indeed creative and also quite accurate for that period. They said the producer/director designed them, except the one worn by the ninth prince which came from standard stock. I also always wondered why they used the sculpture of David in the drama instead of Venus. After all, the empress was a playboy from 2015. What was she doing with David? Of course, after ep.24 and 27, I understood it perfectly. Sheng Yilun's singing of the theme songs here and in Oh My General was super. His dancing scenes and his dancing in the dancing contest was sensational.
Mediocre actors are usually made up to look one part and play fluffy characters with no depth which they would play over and over again and sometimes even similarly dressed. On the other hand, good actors love to tackle complicated characters with depth. There is a sort of mysterious feel about such characters. I am so happy that an insightful actor like Sheng Yilun plays these complicated roles, like Qi Sheng, Yujin, Sheng lun, Bai and Wentain and I hope to see more.

for people who didnt get whyy she was laughins is cause of a folk tale/ story/ legend whose conclusion gives us this ine to use "his wife made him wear a green hat/ he was made to wear a green hat" means he was cheated on
I think that the Chinese drama clothing was designed to cover up the lack of a nice figure of the wearer. I am so happy that the producers here experimented with some revealing costumes since Sheng Yilun has a fantastic figure and Crystal's figure is pretty good also. Even the actor who played prince Zhao, though he is more than 10 years older than Sheng Yilun, has an OK figure.
