PMS stands for Perempuan Merdeka Seutuhnya [ women who are completely independent ] This song was actually written by Marsya (vocals, guitar), Widi (bass), and Sitti (drums) during high school around 2017 together with their counseling teacher and mentor Abah Erza. “We write songs fueled by the residual energy we leave after school. At that time, we were very enthusiastic about school activities, so basically we had to drag ourselves to the studio for workshops,” recalls Marsya. PMS is an expression of VOB's antipathy, displeasure, and anger towards their current situation, both lyrically and musically. Despite the conditions they were in, there wasn't a trace of fatigue in the songs they produced. The main inspiration behind the lyrics of "PMS" comes from a series of short stories written by Indonesian writer Feby Indirani entitled "Bukan Perawan Maria" [ Not the Virgin Mary ]. This single focuses on VOB's protest against discriminatory and judgmental behavior that tends to be aimed at women who have different mindsets, perspectives, attitudes, and even desires or dreams compared to the norm. Departing from a region where social norms are heavily influenced by not only religious values but also patriarchy, the VOB has had its fair share of gender-based discrimination in the past. The absence of post-high school life options for many girls other than marriage will be one of them. The same goes for career options, which are limited for VOBs and their peers due to gender discrimination. "Ironically, it's not just men who would display such behavior, but our fellow women as well!" Marsya commented.
And what country and who are the ones doing the persecuting of these women ? You seem to have left that completely out in your article and dissertation. I know where it's from. Because my wife comes from their country as well. You seem to have avoided mentioning. Where much of that hostility towards them. Is and has actually been coming from with this group.
@@chuckvelten5337 Actually it comes from their enviroment... Yes, not all of Indonesian people doing that, but in some areas most people doing that... It's not fake or just rumours... Base on their many interviews... As Indonesian I can feel that coz I've been living in big city like Jakarta or Bandung but also in small village in Garut, Cianjur etc... And yes, most people in small village far from city still doing that... Sad but True...

Actually this PMS MV is a NEW VERSION from VOB ... They have changed 3 things from the ORIGINAL PMS ... 1. Except Chorus Part they have changed the Lyric to English Version ... 2. The Chorus Part they have changed become Harmonize ... 3. They have cutted some bars in Intro Part (which is the best part in my opinion, but I don't know why they did those) ... But still I have to say that This PMS is One of My Fav from VOB ... Everytime I hear this song really make me feel Happy and Blue also ...
