Im from Hubli and planning to go on this journey. Nice video
ALCO Locomotive attached at Karaikkudi Junction. Because as compared to ALCO locomotives emd locomotives are more heavier than ALCO locomotives. Due to overweight of emd locomotives these are not allowed on pamban bridge and (I think till now single emd locomotive is not passed over pamban bridge). But anyway Chugging ALCO locomotives sounds better than emd. Travelling behind ALCO locomotive and listening chugging sound over pamban bridge most enjoyable journey. you done Good work Good footage Do more videos we will support you.
EMD locomotives run very faster than ALCO diesel locomotives. So on Pamban railway bridge, trains are supposed to move slowly and it's safe too. ALCO diesel locomotives run slowly but they smoke too much by chugging so that's why only ALCO diesel engines are used to pull the trains on Pamban bridge, that's a dangerous railway bridge which is not strong enough to bear the speed of fast running trains.
Actually there is height restriction on the schwezer span of Pamban bridge. The clearance is just 10 to 15 cm hence the loco change. I studied this bridge in depth and I am very sure. Faster loco can be slowed. The sole reason is height.
