How does Astyanax hold up against other action platformers on the NES?

Oh this brought me back. So frustrating, but also made me "get gud" at gaming compared to other games. never could play long enough to beat it though, old NES games were silly like that! No way to have a savepoint, but it was slightly better with level codes

Why the hell do you only have a little more than 1k subs? You should have AT LEAST 100k subs, your videos have a lot of quality and production. I subbed

Loved this game, probably because it was one of my first nes games as a kid. It’s difficult, has some terrible frame rate issues, some of the later levels are bland…but thought it had a couple of killer songs that I still love to this day. Fun game overall

I love the barrage of complaints followed by praising it! Truly an NES game!

Astyanax is legendary. One of the first side scroller probably ever to incorporate the plethora of mythological characters as enemies and bosses that it offers. This game is a giant for the NES, easily one of my top 10.

Almost looks like a 16-bit game with the big sprites.

It does remind me of a 16 bit game Brian!

@@RetroKingPin It’s really neat how programmers worked around the NES limitations and provided amazing games. I know the MM Memory chips helped but still, they found a way.
