Dude, You have a great way of making the licks known with out having to name the fret and spring name over and over. I really like your technique! Thanks, Tony
im playing rhythm singing in 3 bands since 9 but want to perfect my lead even at 67. you my friend are a talented all around guitar guy im here to stay, vic thx ill be asking watching you more. God and son bless
Yes but John Fogerty was tuned to a Standard D. D.A.F.C.G.D. He played an E chord which really is a D with his Tuning. Tom Fogerty was in Standard E tuning on a 12 string.
Me gustó mucho como explicas el solo pues al tratar de aprenderlo de oído me parece un poco confuso y en este video lo entendí mejor. Gracias. Saludos desde México
Thanks for your comment. It's the only way I see a guitar when I look at it...by the notes. But it's good to know there's people out there like you that appreciate it. It's what guitarists really need to know in my opinion if they want to understand the guitar.
You nailed the soul of those fills. Great job. Your tone sounds cool. Which pickup position are you using? I can see this vid is not for newbies. And yeah, most of us know how Fogarty tuned his guitar. Ignore those comments. You nailed it! Beside the original recording is not perfectly in D so if you try and play along it won’t sound right. I think the original is a bit flat if I recall correctly.
I firstly want to say great video, but as someone else said, a little slower would really help, and if possible a scrolling tab would also help, but very helpful and thanks for showing us, I particularly liked the triplets 👏👏👏
Hello, that song is tuned up one full step...that D is really an E and he puts the E 6th ( up and down )...then B 7....then proud mary C# minor, keeps on burning.....rolling on the river....just saying....
No I don't remember what the finish was exactly. It was a fender special run FSR strat and I bought it solely because of the electronics and pickups. I would have preferred tobacco sunburst actually
your bad as me. I watch john play this and he tuned down to d and played his guitar in the e fingering to get the d. Tom played the standard tuning using the d chord. I checked out the woodstock video and verified that. I about got the same story with that song as you lol. and I said , dang I've been playin her wrong all this time.
@@LEADSOLO there's a certain timber that the guitar on the recording had and the only way to duplicate is by playing it as john did. also the riffs john played lend themselves to that tuning. I'm not saying you're playin it wrong. I said I was playing it wrong. lol
@@LEADSOLO you're welcome. I want you to know I've been an admirer of your work for years. I've used your site before to learn leads. Pretty awesome that you share your skills. thanks!
@@LEADSOLO also not sure if you're into the new girl bands or even got time but Ian Paice critiqued a band called Strange Kind of Women. A deep purple cover band! ya oughta check them out. The keys are quite amazing as is the rest of the band.
I'm referring to the f sharp in the d major chord that comes after the f chord. So I'm pointing out when he's on the f major chord he just puts the d note in with this pinky instead of the whole d major chord because I don't hear the f sharp coming through as i found n the d major chord. I'm sorry I speak a little too fast and try to throw too much in as I just have all these little things flying through my head.
I suppose is intended for people with at least basic knowledge of music (like me). In fact, i love this videos because it's the right way to show (and learn), and not those videos that just say "play the string 3 fret 2 blah blah blah" ... that's is really harmful.
This video is intended for those with 1-2 years of guitar under their belt to quickly learn a song. If you’re a beginner, there are other, longer, and more in depth tutorials on RUclips.
I’ve been kinda just going thru the motions during practice. Didn’t feel like I was making much progress until I realized I was able to keep up with this lesson. So apparently, my hard work & perseverance IS paying off, because I was able to pick it up. Keep learning & practicing & save this lesson if you really want to do this. It will come. You WILL get it if you just keep going. ❤️
As far as the true music I am in the right key. Yes you could tune down a full step and play different chords. But either way you hear the exact same thing.... That is the true music I'm talking about. I've always found the exact notes I hear matching up to the record. Yes you can play them on different strings or tune differently and play different versions of the chords but it's exactly the same music. If I tune down a full step and played the same chords it would be the totally wrong key. Now if I tune down a full step and play chords a full step higher that would be back to the right key.
Excellent explanation of the rhythm, chord progressions and of course the guitar solo and licks. Thank you for your lesson. 👍
Nice video, thanks for posting.....band was tinkering with this song at practise so think we'll do it.....crowd favorite for sure

Okay well these are the notes in standard tuning
On original record, they are almost halfway between D and C#
So that makes boss right here..Seems like he's da guy with the Les Paul and Badfinger lesson..Awesome
Aloha
Very nice breakdown of the guitar parts, thanks!
You’re amazing! Thank you sooo much!
Make excellent lesson, and explanation on why he plays what he does..thanks very much.

these lessons are really impressive
Calling out all the notes is huge, well done 👍

Right to the point i like your attitude it really suites my level no bs of first grade with all the respect. You earn you self a new one mate.
Fogerty tuned his guitar down a full step and played in key of E.
Amazing !!
Excellent tutorial ...
I know about transposing, but due to voice range, our band has to play it in G, not D!
Great stuff
Dude, you have some wonderful lessons here, thx so much for this one !!!
Thanks man! 👍
I firstly want to say great video, but as someone else said, a little slower would really help, and if possible a scrolling tab would also help, but very helpful and thanks for showing us, I particularly liked the triplets 👏👏👏
Thanks for the input! I will try to slow things down more in the future.
Thanks for referring to the actual notes, rather than the string and fret number. Kudos!
Thanks for appreciating that! In my opinion it's the only way that really is worthwhile and sounds like you basically agree!
Nice
Excelent!
Hello, that song is tuned up one full step...that D is really an E and he puts the E 6th ( up and down )...then B 7....then proud mary C# minor, keeps on burning.....rolling on the river....just saying....
Fogerty wrote/played it in a different tuning.
Cool
HELLO, I BELIVE HIS GUITAR IS TUNED DOWN A FULL STEP, I THINK , NOT SURE , JOHN FROM NORTH CAROLINA , .
Thank You!
is that a tabaco sunburst strat
No I don't remember what the finish was exactly. It was a fender special run FSR strat and I bought it solely because of the electronics and pickups. I would have preferred tobacco sunburst actually
@@LEADSOLO ok thank you then I think its Sienna Red looks good

It's not wrong. The same notes. He just preferred to have a different fingering. If you understand music it's not wrong!
@@LEADSOLO there's a certain timber that the guitar on the recording had and the only way to duplicate is by playing it as john did. also the riffs john played lend themselves to that tuning.

But why do you say that it's F sharp? It's just F major 1:40

Love it - you broke out the strat - nice
Thanks
LEADSOLO is your favorite guitar the sg?
Yes yes yes !!! It doesn't have the tonal qualities of like a strat but I grew up playing it and it's just so easy to play and light
very interesting. how do you compare the SG to the Les Paul
Hey dude great lesson for pros. But for beginners it's no good. Sorry make one without rushing through it like machine gun Kelly.
Unfortunately you've been in the wrong key all these years. Try turning down one full step.

A little faster why don't you
Nice video... Spieghi di merda ❤️
Thank you and good, but please slow down sometimes on the solos for us poor beginners :)
you can reduce the speed directly on youtube (gear icon)
