  • In this episode, someone looses an eyebrow.
I bought this van sight unseen several months ago. In EP 61, I finely was able to see it for the first time and now it’s home. Now, will it drive? Checkout this episode of the future “MERCH MOBILE”.

Glad I found you. I have a 76 B200 waiting for me to start on it. It currently has a 440 big block and 727. I know I'm committing sacrilege, but the 440 is going to be used in another setting and I'm putting in a 360. I have one carb'd and another fuel injected. Watching you makes me want to get it pulled around and start in.

That body was used from 1971-2003 so I'm sure you can still get a windshield.

I was given a '76 Travco motorhome by my uncle who ordered it new. Funny thing? The taillights are the exact same ones. I bought a set of NOS ones just for her- it doesn't need them yet, but better to have them then need them & not be able to find them. The 'Better" 360 code I believe is E58- cool rig though

I have a beautiful 2001 Chevy Tahoe, but scared that the 'cat' thief will ruin my day. Dreaming of a pre 74 Dodge van with no cat to worry about, and easy to work on. I had a 71 Dodge B100 van and a 76 B200, but kept getting stopped by the police asking me if I had any weapons? Old clunkers were suspect vehicle here in Portland, Oregon. But still love the classic Dodge vans. Thank you for posting. Another channel, 'Quick Spool Garage', I think that was the name, they found a 77 B200 in a garage that hadn't run in 25 years, the interior was all shag and no mention of any smell. What a find! Mike

Man I love these old boogie vans!!! We restored a 76 B200 at the last shop I was working at! Had all the 70's goodies too! Sunvisor, fender flares (which I had to extensively repair), chin spoiler, roof wing, thrush Corvette-style sidepipes, and bubble windows and keystone mags to wrap it up!! 😌 I'm glad to see that folks are saving them now..... Because there for a while they were all getting scrapped! 🤦‍♀️ They were everywhere when I was a kid back in the late '80s, but when the scrap metal boom hit in the 2000s, they all got dragged from the backyards and sent to the crusher! 🤦‍♀️ And in my opinion I always thought those boogie vans were bad as fuck!!! 😁 So it's good to see that they're gaining a niche following again! 👏♥️💯

Also if you start having electrical ghosts occurring on this van, there are two seriously common problems that plagued this era of B series. The first main problem is where the battery sits under the hood a lot of corrosion occurs to the surrounding parts around that battery. The main wiring harness bus plugs into the firewall right behind that battery. The acidic vapors that the battery emits corrodes the pins on that connector, so you won't see it from the outside but if you disconnect that plug from the firewall a lot of times you'll find a few corroded/melted pins. Also the instrument cluster has a round bus plug on the back of it that hooks to the printed circuit board. These pins would get loose and cause the gauges to not work correctly. I just resoldered depends on the back of the circuit board for the bus plug plugs into and that fixes it. The only reason I'm telling you this is I've ran into this same problem on many B series vans countless times over my career..... So I figured I'd send you a few tidbits to save a little headache! Lol

The factory grilles are famous for cracking. But you can still find them in decent shape online...... Or if you scour enough junkyards?🤷‍♀️ also if you don't mind changing the style of it..... I believe 71 to 74 had an all-aluminum grill insert.🤔 And if you wanna get real freaky...... You could still find those aftermarket chrome tube grilles for those vans!! 😆

80 lb./ft per Chrysler Factory Service Manual on steel wheels. You need a threaded Rod or a Factory Rod originally intended for a 4 bbl. carburetor. Love the Blowby. You need a rebuild.

A good place to find all those '70s goodies (like bubble windows, window louvers, Venturi vents, etc) is to get in touch with someone from a local Vanner club! They are usually a great parts source because they hold on to a lot of those hard to find items.... And generally they're usually eager and willing to help fellow vanners just getting into the scene. Also, start scouring backyards and junkyards for vans that were customized in the past and have now been derelict for 20 or 30 years. If you can find one that's already been heavily customized, you can rob it for all of its boogie van stuff! Including interior templates as well!! 🙂 It'll make your build exponentially easier! And I'm pretty sure you can still get those side pipes brand new from summit racing or JC Whitney.
