  • (Had to reupload due to some glitch) Sorry about the wind and the traffic noise, not much could be done. I was just in the nick of time to prepare to film the Westminster Chimes of Selby Abbey and then strikes 10 o'clock after getting off the train at Selby to visit the abbey church before I visited York (I did not do a recording of the Minster chimes as many people have done that before and I did not want to beat a dead horse so to speak). The bells at the abbey are a 25cwt Taylor ring of 12 tuned to D, which the back 10 date from 1909 after the Abbey was restored following a fire in 1906. Also of note in the Abbey is it's magnificent Hill Organ dating from the restoration in 1909, which came to fame by being recorded by the Vatican organist Fernando Germani in the 1960s. I also heard Westminster Chimes at Escrick, but at 3/4 to the hour, and I am not sure which bell the hour is struck on, if someone could record of tell me the answer please.
