- This eggplant bajji brings back memories of my grandma. She used to roast the eggplant/badanekayi on a fire until it was lightly charred and became very tender, then cool it and mash it. Unfortunately we don’t have access to that kind of wood burning stove with coal to give us that charred flavor, but we can use a gas stove or an oven to do the job.

We do it all the time...but we use pre heated oven to roast badanekayi.. I add also red eerulli and soaked kadale bele to it and I also add grinded coconut green chili

I use the oven.. I smear oil on the eggplant and put it in oven's maximum heat... It takes 20 to 25 mins to do this way.. After 10 mins u can turn it around. Although it takes more time i prefer this way because I dont have to be standing and doing the work.
@@SwayamPaaka Does it take the same time on electric stove too? I follow your instructions very diligently, hence this question.

madam l want to know about baking powder is it healthy or not if u know please reply
actually I am not very sure of the pros and cons of BP, I will ask Dr.Shivashankar and let you know. For me, if I consume anything with BP, I get stomach upset, bloating .. People use baking soda and baking powder in almost everything like dose idli ... May be each body reacts to this in different way.
