Richardson is one of the best ever but he had a certain stiffness about him compared to VC and MJ. He just was not as fluid in the air as them, something lacked. Plus he was one dimensional as he could ONLY dunk off two feet, and most of his dunks were variations of VC's.
This was super cool to watch, but to the video editor: I would recommend putting these in order by year, that way we could see how the "50 point dunk" has evolved over the years.

RageCage1701 It is true jordan was an amazing athlete and did great dunks. It s just that after the first free throw line dunk he repeated the dunk multiple times and still got 50’s. I believe a 50 should only be awarded to insane, groundbreaking dunks like the first free throw line dunk.
Easily, they passed up Jordan vs Nique. Jordan vs Dominique is a classic, but the dunks Gordon and Lavine were doing were all impressive and against each other in the same contest. Shit.
It was pretty damn fancy at the time, people need to realize that it's an evolution, without Jordan then vc may not have been as innovative, without vc maybe Lavigne and Gordon aren't the same.
@soldier2009 Wrong. The guy who dunks alone is always more impressive than the one who is jumping over people, grabbing ball from their heads. You can always see the latter pushing down on the lower guy getting that extra air time. 2016 was judged perfectly.
So the guy that copied the dunk gets a 50? So a guy that does a overrated near FT line windmill dunk was enough to tie with a guy who cleared a guy's head while sitting in mid air? Lavine was sponsored by Drake, Drake is from Toronto, the all star game was in Toronto. Gordon was robbed
Everybody talks about vince, jordan, lavine, gordon and spudd but nobody talks about Jason Richardson won 2 time slam dunk champion. One of the underrated dunkers as well tbh
@@factos4621 I had a friend who goes into dunk contests. He was obsessed with that dunk. He tried doing it over and over again. He tried to do it in a contest, jammed the rim, fell back and broke his left shoulder. Nobody can emulate that dunk.
I love how horizontal MJ gets when he's in the air. He's got the most style IMO. The way he moves his legs in the air on his kiss the rim/rock the baby dunk is just so beautiful.
The only thing that makes them insane is because of the fact that the man was small. The dunks are lame otherwise. I've seen Nate Robinson dunk over so many people in-game that these Spud Webb dunks are kinda just... ok
Ludwig Vonn I don’t think a lot of u younger guys can imagine or think about the impact & amazement seeing a 5’7” guy doing dunks like this in 86. He’s 2 to 3 inches shorter than Robinson. I’m 44. Jordan, Niq, Spudd, are my childhood. They change the whole dunking game. Jordan with his gracefulness, Dominique with his powerfulness, Spudd with his nonchalantness. We are talking about the early & mid 80’s. It was unthinkable to us to see the things these guys were doing. U gotta respect it. They’re far from lame.
Don't get me wrong Jordan is the goat, but anyone else feel like his dunks in this video were overrated? If someone pulled those dunks off in a contest today it wouldn't get more than a 45
Anytime we see old footage of player dunking including dominique and julius erving they dont look as good as the new dunks we see. To me the footage of back then didnt look as crisp or good as now and the dunks today are more creative. If you watch jordan clips when he was in Washington compared to now you can see a drastic difference in the footage and how it makes jordan look. He looked better in his washigton wizards clips than his old bulls clips early on..mostly cuz of how the footage looks.
Yes. In 2003 All Stars game footage (HD), Jordan moves look great, and he was 40 years old. So it's most about the video quality. Imagine the 90's Chicago Bulls in HD...that would have been great.
Jordan did 2 different dunks and got like 8 50’s. Also I get it was in the 80’s but Dr. J did the free throw line dunk first and people like Ibaka can do that now a days.
Each of MJ's free-throw line dunks were further than Dr. J's as well. Plus, there was no flair to Dr. J's free-throw line dunks; they were exactly the same each time, whereas MJ brought something new to it each time. Also, how many 47-50's did Dominique Wilkins get for doing a windmill literally dozens of times (including two-handed windmills)
For me the best dunks and memorable moments of the last 20 years (not including the Jordan and Domonique stuff) are -Vince Carter reverse 360 windmill 0:20 -Jason Richardson reverse between the legs from baseline off the bounce 1:24 -Zach Lavine around the world off the bounce (imo one of the best dunks ever, I know Iguodala did it first but Zach’s had more flair) 7:29 -Aaron Gordon over mascot sitting leg dunk 0:48

You are correct sir.
LETS GOOOO HOMEEEEE
10:10 best reaction ever 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Think best reaction goes to 0:26
When you realize that Spud Webb's dunks are criminally underrated. 😳
18 years later and Carter still putting in work
the best reaction ever was almost zero reaction to VC's elbow in the rim dunk. no one stood up, they were all processing what just happened.
Jason Richardson seriously was one power duker..Add to that his hops..insane..
Zach and Vince’s Dunks are something else
I feel like J-Rich dunks are underrated, just because he did it just after VC. Nowadays it would be pretty insane dunks.
spud webb is IMMMMMOOOORRRRTAL 5'7 DUNKING LIKE HES 6'10 GGG
Dallas Texas legend
In a time where sneakers were a bunch of foam and plastic put together.
@@joaopires1761 And weighed 18 lbs.
NC State in the house.
That Aaron Gordon Dunk was the best Dunk ever. Sat down in the Air💯💯
a lot of the players on the side were not fucking with aaron lol they only got hyped for zach
It takes away when they use someone to hold it
Circus dunk. Lack of sports nature
Iguoadalla too. That and Gordon.
Minty LF bruh you trippin
1:04-1:08 Such style, such grace...😀 Arguably The Greatest Dunk of All Time...
0:22 that shit looked so smooth
VC’s reverse windmill is the best dunk of all time
l
Knotty God Can’t argue with you, but the camera running behind him had a lot to do with how good it looks.
Knotty God it’s overrated af it’s just a reverse windmill half of the nba can do that nowadays
AAron Gordon over mascott
Gordon was robbed that year. Although Zach is very impressive in his own right.
Now they are handing out 50s like halloween candy
THE LUCKY TITAN nah they’re not, it’s harder to get a 50 now the 80’s dunks were weak asf
@@MMLL03 stfu. did you watch this last dunk contest? There was dunks that would get 40 getting 50's.
THE LUCKY TITAN you get a 50, you get a 50, you get a 50!!
1
So who gon give 50? Jordan dunks? Lol weak asf
Spud Webb 🔥the timing and height he has to achieve is amazing
8:16
J-Rich was so underrated
Zanetti Captain thank you. Dude was doing video game dunks. Had me jumping out my seat
Richardson was basically a Vince 2.0. He should get credit for it. Best power and style ever.
Richardson is one of the best ever but he had a certain stiffness about him compared to VC and MJ. He just was not as fluid in the air as them, something lacked. Plus he was one dimensional as he could ONLY dunk off two feet, and most of his dunks were variations of VC's.
VCthaGOATdunker stop it.
VCthaGOATdunker agree 100%, and that’s why people forget about him tbh, cuz it really was not as nice as VC’s
That Stoudemire/Nash dunk was pretty dope!!
This was super cool to watch, but to the video editor: I would recommend putting these in order by year, that way we could see how the "50 point dunk" has evolved over the years.
It's not an evolution video
seems like an obvious choice
I think it was a good mix to keep your attention all the way through. Kind of went from best to worst to get a 50.
Who’s here after this trash 2021 dunk contest
Me Lmao
Yes
😅😅😅
Yessir
🤣🤣🤣
Jordan got 50 3 times for the same dunk? Wack
daniel blazing borruel 😂
Exactly lmao
Thats what i was saying and so did zach lavine aaron gordon was more creative zach lavine jumped like 3 time from the free throw
daniel blazing borruel I mean it was Jordan so ofc they had to give him 50s 😂
Masterpoop degree of creativity back then was different than it was here.
LETS GO HOME
DiscoFalcon imat work cant
DiscoFalcon *bg music playing*
Okay
We love Vince
Drew Drew griffy?
Jordan kept doing the same dunks
Yeah compared to the other dunks in the vid Jordan dunks were relatively weak
@@abhinaybhatla8136 lol no they weren't. Jordan's dunks are easily the most athletic of any in the video. There's a little less "flash" because of the era--you weren't expected to look like a video-game-character dofus in the 80s.
@@RageCage1701 how were they the most athlethic?his style was weak as shit, and lavine literally repeated his freethrow line dunk, while adding a windmill to it,also just about 90% of these dudes can do a freethrow line dunk.
@@blackeesh463 lol show me videos of these dudes doing true dribble free-throw takeoff dunks anywhere, in an exhibition, competition, game. You won't be able to. (Even Irving couldn't do it.) What's weak as shit is a lot of this cringey, gimmicky dunks people have started doing in the past 10 years; they make up for lack of athleticism with some Harlem Globetrotters bullshit.
RageCage1701 It is true jordan was an amazing athlete and did great dunks. It s just that after the first free throw line dunk he repeated the dunk multiple times and still got 50’s. I believe a 50 should only be awarded to insane, groundbreaking dunks like the first free throw
line dunk.
Aaron Gordon's dunk always gives me chills everytime I watch it. Damn!
6:23
Spud Webb dunk was amazing for his height 💯
He is taller than Nate
Zach lavine and aaron gordon going at it is the best dunk competition i’ve ever seen. History. Don’t @ me.
newthrash1221 💯
Easily, they passed up Jordan vs Nique. Jordan vs Dominique is a classic, but the dunks Gordon and Lavine were doing were all impressive and against each other in the same contest. Shit.
Go watch Vince and Tmac in 2000. That was the best ever.
newthrash1221 EXACTLY
Agree
Jordan and Nique were better players.
Lavine and Gordon were better dunkers.
Listen spudd webb is only 5'7" and had like 3 dunks on here..... that's ridiculous.... he was amazing
Dion Santana 5'7 is just listed stats just like KD list himself 6'9 no way we can confirm. But spud is crazy to be under 6 feet and do those dunks.
meat loaf we can confirm by seeing him taller then most centers lol
All of them are special but for me 0:48 is one of the greatest .Also 7:45 Vince put almost whole arm in .💪
7:30
Michael Jordan doesn't do anything fancy but he literally flies.
amen brother
Keep it simple stupid
Michael Jordan Is Literally Superman LOL
It was pretty damn fancy at the time, people need to realize that it's an evolution, without Jordan then vc may not have been as innovative, without vc maybe Lavigne and Gordon aren't the same.
The dunk contest has changed so much since Jordan's time thiugh
The reverse 360 windmill from Vince is the best dunk of all-time!
Made Shaq look like a kid who just saw a magic trick
His dunk in olympics is the best
TheSystemIsFlawed that dunk isn’t even a 50 today
LuckyC1723...Humiliating a 7 foot center by flying over him? Yeah, that's a 50.
Same for me.
I think 2016 dunk contest is one of amazing dunk contest
It would've if they got the winner right. Gordon was robbed
soldier2009 robbed is a very strong word. They both have great dunks so I thought it should of been a tie. They could have going all night.
Gordon was robbed
soldier2009 how is a free throw line windmill dunk overrated? You sound like a hater right now.
Everybody talks about vince, jordan, lavine, gordon and spudd but nobody talks about Jason Richardson won 2 time slam dunk champion. One of the underrated dunkers as well tbh
Aaron Gordon got robbed in 2016
But we got 4 extra dunks, though - I say it was worth it XD
Chuy Garza zack lavine copied one of AG's dunks and he pretty much did the same dunk twice
tell me where lavine is living, I'm gonna drop nukes
Dude I commented the same thing the first 10 minutes the video came out....I guess some people get lucky with likes
in the last round tho, his dunk was blunt
0:50 number one . The best
@Minty LF No reason to be rude bro
Minty LF and your profile looks weird lol
Nothing compares to vince carters dunk
K.I.Z Of A Down no, but we’ve decided that he should STFU. Lol
Best ever reactions to
Lavine is my vote for the best. Just so smooth it's crazy
Agree. Everything he did looked effortless.
That first dunk by Jordan is one of the most iconic posters of all time.
Poor Nate Robinson... should've stayed with dunking
I think Iguodala deserved the 2006 contest over Nate Robinson.
At least he is not a beta male fan of another human being and he isn't a keyboard warrior.
@@aaabbb-pg2zk I would rather be a keyboard warrior than get knocked out by jake paul
@@imgaybut3430 a giver not a receiver.
Vince carter 360 windmill reverse is the best bruh
Beastmode232BASKETBALLFOREVAANDMOMFOREVABEST2KPLA but it’s not even a 360... it was a 180
Beastmode232BASKETBALLFOREVAANDMOMFOREVABEST2KPLA I agree. That was the cleanest dunk contest dunk I’ve ever seen.
pg13 did it.... IN GAME! 😂😂😂
@@factos4621 I had a friend who goes into dunk contests. He was obsessed with that dunk. He tried doing it over and over again. He tried to do it in a contest, jammed the rim, fell back and broke his left shoulder. Nobody can emulate that dunk.
@@vika0194 shut up it iss a 360
This First Aaron gordon dunk is probably the hardest and most difficult dunk ever done in a dunk contest
And then there was that spinning hoverboard dunk. Best runner up by a mile.
He got robbed in my opinion
cool dude or Vince Carter’s 360 windmill and elbow dunk
ummm i think 1:26 is the hardest, imo.
@@chickenrat9444 that elbow dunk is actually called the honey dip
I will never not love Dwight's superman dunk. Really just hammers it down
7:10
I hope we get a good contest cause last years contest was dead
Kam Teezly agree
Kam Teezly that's how they are man, 2015 and 2016 with LaVine and Gordon raised the bar waaay too high lol
Well 2016 was amazing...but last year was sooo bad
It just upsets me not seeing zach lavine in it... wish he would have went for a three peat
And curry not in the three point contest is weird too
2016 dunk contest is the best there ever was and probably the best there will be in quite some time.
The last couple felt so boring because the 2016 dunk contest was so good
That one was excellent.
Best part from the 2016 contest, they did everything first try!!
It’s either the 2016 or the one Vince carter and T Mac went at it
0:25 I just came here for this 😂😂😂
Nicholas Major I think he’s talking about Shaq
10:12 this dude is the best dunker I have ever seen, no one is even close (he is consistent, creative and overall very impressive).
Sucks so much that he hasn’t won a dunk contest yet. I consider him a top twoish dunker ever
9:50
I love how horizontal MJ gets when he's in the air. He's got the most style IMO. The way he moves his legs in the air on his kiss the rim/rock the baby dunk is just so beautiful.
I don't watch basket ball much but Vince Carter and Zach Lavine are legendary. I even loved Aron Gordan style it was beautiful.
The Vince Carter one still gives me goosebumps!
Aaron Gordon and Zach Lavine raised the dunk contest bar toooo highhh😂😂. It was never the same after that
10:43
5:24 Nash did most of the work for that 50 lol
Queen Nai nash did 33% of the work...
Way more then that it was a simple dunk
Queen Nai The dunk had 3 parts. Nash did 1 part= 1/3= 33% Nash has played soccer and heading the ball like that is pretty easy for a soccer player.
But when they commentators speak they talked mostly about the pass the dunk didn't have any flare
Queen Nai because Americans aren’t skilled at soccer. Especially not back then. The dunk wasn’t bad.
Ain't nobody gonna talk about Spud Webb's dunks???? Those were insane BRUH!!!
@@000lowkey why do you think I'm younger I don't know.. you don't represent every human older than 40 lol..
Ludwig Vonn no offense, pardon me, I’m just not use to anyone of older age calling these guys dunks lame. That’s crazy to me.
The man has Hops 5'7 and can dunk? Blessed.
4:51 "He got the flu right now, he's sick!" BARS 💥💥💥
*coronavirus joined the chat*
Just hearing the commentators go “OHHHHH” after the satisfying rim shaking, net swooshing sound, just makes it so awesome
Vince Carter was the pioneer of the modern dunk. Before him it was all just jumping from the foul line and doing a simple 360
That forearm dunk changed my life!
@All Skill No Luck very true. JR Rider was the first to do the between the legs in a dunk contest
@All Skill No Luck I would credit Dominique with perfecting the windmill.
ikr
And Howard the pioneer of be a clown
I know it was pretty simple, but that 360 at 2:27 was so smooth
0:48 The 3rd one is still my favorite by far.
Vince Carter's 360 reverse windmill dunk... brooooo I can watch that all day long. Over and over and over. It's over!
Don't get me wrong Jordan is the goat, but anyone else feel like his dunks in this video were overrated? If someone pulled those dunks off in a contest today it wouldn't get more than a 45
kkawesome1234 tell that to Zach Levine
Imagine the 90's Chicago Bulls in HD...that would have been great.
natanael mercado no the dunks was just badic
Are you 12? Those guys started all of this and IMHO, they had more charisma than the guys in today's NBA.
2:34 The J Rich off the glass, between the legs is the most underrated dunk ever....
Jordan did 2 different dunks and got like 8 50’s. Also I get it was in the 80’s but Dr. J did the free throw line dunk first and people like Ibaka can do that now a days.
jared white Jordan didn't travel though. Meaning he could actually do that shit in a game.
Ibaka is 6'11 with a 7'3 wingspan of course he can do it
jared white or Lavine
jared white Jordan does it with grace
For me the best dunks and memorable moments of the last 20 years (not including the Jordan and Domonique stuff) are
-Vince Carter reverse 360 windmill 0:20
-Jason Richardson reverse between the legs from baseline off the bounce 1:24
-Zach Lavine around the world off the bounce (imo one of the best dunks ever, I know Iguodala did it first but Zach’s had more flair) 7:29
-Aaron Gordon over mascot sitting leg dunk 0:48
2:56
