Unfortunately, mine was so difficult to remove the back (it apparently was glued by the manufacturer), that I damaged the screen - part of it is black now and crackly looking. Not the glass itself, but the underside of the screen. Not sure if that can be fixed.

Your LCD is cracked by the sounds of it. You will have to complete a full screen replacement.
