  • This ride … was up and over the scenic Glen Kendrum … and it also featured the tow rope.
As usual the key objective is to show the terrain and surfaces and this one was pretty varied, with some chunky steep climbs, burn crossings and brilliant descents.
I even got an opportunity to use my tow rope for the first time!
Thank you Miriam for agreeing to a little assistance up the climb and it was a bit of fun trying it out.
As usual, the camera doesn’t seem to capture the steepness, but trust me some of it was challenging, even on an eBike.
The route map shows the circuit…. complete with the elevation, mind you does not show the 2 burns we had to cross.
We started at Mhor84 - at Kingshouse, just off the A84.
Under the main road to get onto the path towards Loch Earnhead.
Interesting Ornate cast iron bridge over the railway path
Soon we started climbing upwards to the saddle between these two hills, no idea how to pronounce them so forgive me…..Creag Mac Raniach and Meall an t-Seallaidh (Pronounced - Meowl an charlay)
eBike was definitely an advantage up the climbs. ….Especially if you want to get ahead…. for some footage of the crew!
Definitely some path erosion, making the going tougher. ….and…it did get really tough.
Small Kendrum Burn… wasn’t too problematic, however, the sharp climb after it was more of a challenge.
In the interests of never leaving anyone behind. Ideal opportunity for Tow rope trial time.
At last a willing test subject for the tow rope!!!! Thank goodness Miriam is an experienced rider otherwise it could have been a lot more challenging on this terrain.
Athough difficult to keep in a straight line on the rough surface, it was surprisingly effective way of helping someone up the slope, as long as they pedal as well on steep rough terrain.
    Downhill was really good fun
Arrived at rather slippery Ardchyle Burn …. Crossing was tentative, but we all managed to get across upright.
Then it was back to the smooth cinder path for a steady pace back to complete the ride, finally back to MHOR84 for a welcome coffee.
Many thanks to Miriam and Dan for leading the ride and to all the other hardy souls that made it an enjoyable outing.
