      Sorry about your broccoli. Plant a few marigolds or basil/rosemary nearby, it’ll keep the insects away 🥦🙏🏾😃

    Ok, this city, to the suburbs gardener has a question for you. I’m trying to get to one day, to urban living, but due to work, children, we can’t yet, so we improvise, learn, grow until then. My garden is organic, I’m working on the soil, garden boxes, fruit trees etc this year. I absolutely hate snakes, I’m taking a break, staring at my window, praying for courage, even the gentle breeze on my Hostas is freaking me out. I came across a garden snake, every hair on my body is still upright. I was raised to fear snakes and that was a great choice by my grandmother. What do you do? Here’s a organic garden, starting to thrive with flowers to help pollination and I’ve read snakes love low coverage for shade, what’s not low coverage in the garden? Any help for these city folks that want-a be somewhat self sufficient? Love your channel 💜

    • @TheForagingFamily
      @TheForagingFamily  2 месяца назад +5

      Oh girl I hear you about the snakes! We’ve come across a few of the black rat snakes. My husband says they are good to keep around because they eat the poisonous ones (which we do have in our area; we have thankful not run into any of them). My children and husband don’t mind the garden snakes and actually try to catch them 😣🤢
      Me? Nah!!
      Snakes are repelled by many plants, including those with strong smells, bitter tastes, or sharp leaves: try planting lemongrass, marigold, basil, lavender, lemon balm, mint, aloe Vera…etc 🌱
      But please be encouraged that whatever steps you are taking are worth it. Keep going and growing sis! 💕🙏🏾

      @@kanenjames8503 Ahhhh! That’s what I’m talking about, “that’s” what I needed!! Thank you!! Been up 2 nights, faith over fear, searching but every time I go to step out, my city hairs on my neck and arms lift up and tells me to go back in! Today I woke up with hope, been praying, then I get your answer with 2 Bible verses, I’m going back out! Be blessed, thank you for sharing 💜🙏

Did he buy the sweet poto's from the store and let it sit and let the little sprouts come out of them and then cut the sweet poto in half and let the sprouts stick up but covered the half part in the dirt and then it eventually it grew into a plant etc
