    I really like your grain setup videos. I’ve been doing a lot of research into potentially adding grain bins to my farm, and I appreciate your videos.

      I am glad the videos help. I did a layout of the bin site with a 2D cad program and have been refining it as we go. The biggest thing I can say is leave yourself room to work. Unbelievable how much room those augers and semis take to maneuver.

    I always liked the farm fans dryers work very well with little problems

      We have updated the dryer to the new timers and had to replace a few relays when we bought the dryer. Didn't have a problem in season.

    So the dry grains come out of the same end (but the bottom) of the dryer that the wet grains go into? Where is the gas hookup? I ask because I am building a scale model of a small grain operation with the truck dump, elevator, dryer and bins. Thank you.

      Yes, the grain flows as you said. If you watch my Last of Harvest 2020 video ruclips.net/video/o1Mbn1H2Oko/видео.html you can see a startup of the dryer.

    What size motor ( hp ) do you run on the 8"-26' dryer load auger ( wet ) and on the 8"-61' dryer unload auger ( dry ) ?I am setting up similar system with a Farm Fans AB180A.Will be using 8"-26' wet auger and 8"-51' dry auger.

      We run a 5 hp 1740 RPM Extra High Torque Leeson Electric Motor on the 8x26 wet auger and a 10 hp 1740 RPM Extra High Torque Leeson Electric Motor on the 8x61 dry auger.

    So then you transfer dry corn with cart to other bins?

    • @crowsnestus
      @crowsnestus  6 лет назад

      I didn't get a video this year, but we have a Westfield 10x71' auger that we setup to auger dry corn from the new Conrad bin into the 20k bushel Butler in the background.

    You CAN dry soybeans with it? Is it better than bin drying?

      In 2017 we dried 1500 bushel with the Toxowick dryer, and in 2018 another 1500 bushel with this Farm Fans dryer. Most harvests beans dry in the field, but our harvests are so late in the fall that if you have to dry them at harvest time you have to use a grain dryer with heat. Our experience is you use low heat and it is a slow process.
      From harvest 2017 we also dried 4000 bushel in the bin. They were harvested at 18% moisture and freezing temperatures so we ran the fan on the bin when we put them in (again it was cold) and then again when it was about 0 degrees outside. We monitored them all winter and when it got up to 50 degrees and warmer we turned on the fan for about 10 days and they came out about 11%.
      Both ways worked, probably cheaper in the bin. However we had to worry about the beans going out of condition all winter.

    50 gallons of propane an hour? You have like a 500 gallon propane tank sitting there... so you need propane every 10 hours? Or is my math wrong?

    • @crowsnestus
      @crowsnestus  4 года назад

      We had a 1000 gallon, so it held about 800-900. We would get about 24 hours on a fill. For this year we got a second 1000 gallon tank so we can make it 2 days between fills.
