The Western Wall of the Temple Mount (also known as the “Jerusalem Wall”) is one of the most magnificent and significant remnants in Jerusalem from the days of the Second Temple, destroyed approximately 2,000 years ago.
The Western Wall stretches along almost half a kilometer, but today, the part visible to all at the Western Wall Plaza is a mere 70 meters of it. The tour of the Western Wall Tunnels allows visitors to reach the segments of the Wall hidden from view, and to touch the original and special stones that tell the story of the Jewish nation. Visitors to the Western Wall Tunnels walk through ancient and fascinating subterranean spaces with exquisite archeological findings, such as large stone arches, water pits, an ancient water aqueduct that ends at the Strouthion Pool, and more.
The Western Wall (the Kotel in Hebrew) is impressive, but its greatness is truly discovered when you descend underground to the Western Wall Tunnels. The tunnels run along approximately 488 meters of the Western Wall, giving visitors a taste for the challenge that stood before Herod the Great during this biggest of all his immense building projects-the expansion of the Temple Mount. One such example is the famous western stone which is 14 meters long and weighs almost 570 tons.
These complex underground tunnels create a direct link between the history of the Hasmonean period and modern times. The tunnels are supported by many arches and contain stairways that connected the ancient city with the Temple Mount, over the Tyropoeon Valley that ran along the western side of the Temple Mount, separating the two. Today these passageways support streets and homes in the Muslim Quarter.
The tunnels were first discovered during digs done by British archaeologists in the 19th century, but the real digging was done after the Six Day War, after 1967, by the Israeli Ministry of Religions. One of the most special places to visit inside the tunnels is the part of the Western Wall traditionally considered closest to where the Holy of Holies used to be on the Temple Mount. The Holy of Holies, where the Foundation Stone and the Dome of the Rock are located, is the holiest place for Jews. In this location in the tunnels, there is a small synagogue where Jews come to pray.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered licensed tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church.

Fascinating! I read that the largest stone in the Western Wall tunnels that Zahi showed us in this video weighs an estimated 300 tonnes. That's about the weight of 2 Boeing 747's. How on earth did they cut it so accurately then lift it in to its final resting position?? Amazing. 🙂👍🇮🇱
Amazing

It had the earliest mention of Jerusalem,
in Ancient Hebrew.
I assume that the tunnel that you are walking through at the end of the video was filled with water at the time of the Christ?? It is an aqueduct, correct? where is all of that water today? It is amazing that there was any water left for any farming outside of Jerusalem...it seems that it all would be flowing in this system of aqueducts and pools (which are largely dry today)...so, what is done today? dts/usa
Many years before Jesus
💛GOD OF ISRAEL --- ALLMIGHTY GOD 💛...Geniuses16;1
Did all of this water collection stop in 70AD, at the time of the destruction of the Temple? dts/usa
No. The is water there until now
The water collected in the pool at the end of the video doesn't look so pure (it looks rather polluted)...dts/usa
Fascinating stuff, thanks. I wonder if the Antonia fortress was actually larger than depicted? A legion of soldiers and support numbers about 8000. How could they have been housed?
Why do they pray to a wall?
Not pray to walll....
Pray to ALLMIGHTY GOD. 💛
They pray towards the Holy of Holies that is behind this wall. Unfortunately for the Jews, the Holy of Holies is in the possession of the Muslims
@@zahishaked Oh, ok. I was always curious.
map picture shud be updated aftr all recent archeology work
Micah 3:12 "Therefore because of you , Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets". So the so called Temple Mount built up by the Caliphate was atop the Fortress first made by Solomon and given by Herod the Great to Anthony , of Rome. But the Temple Mound was lapsed to be forgotten as a field and plowed and overgrown with thickets. In the Book of Ezekiel, chapter 8, Judah was bowing to an Idol of Jealousy , that is "wall of stones " Western Wall, and they were there, the Elders of Judah , bowing down to the rising sun in the east, and the women were mourning for Tammuz, which is a period of Summer when the land is dried up , the same time as the fall of the Temple, such they were mourning for the temple that fell in the heat of a summer called Tammuz. And then the Men , the Elders of Judah were bowing and their asses , their backsides were facing the Temple "With their backs to the Temple of the Lord" they were bowing to the east, where the sun rises . And they were there , all the IDOLS OF JUDAH, and upon the walls were scrawled things like creatures that are unclean, crawling, which is the appearing of Arabic Calligraphy . The writings of the Arabs looks like SNAKES crawling around on the walls. No ??? So Ezekiel warned you , when you bow to the Western Wall, you put your backside to the Temple of the Lord. However all you care about is a TROPHY , made of hammered chiseled tooled and defiled stones, which Moses said you should not worship. But you evolved your religion in defiance of all that Moses taught, and you even have a stairway up to your high place, which Moses said will uncover your own nakedness. In Ezekiel chapter nine the Spirit says " THEN HE SAID TO THEM, DEFILE THE TEMPLE AND FILL THE COURTS WITH THE SLAIN, GO !!!!! So they went out and began to slay and kill throughout the city , and I was alone, I fell facedown CRYING OUT ALAS SOVEREIGN LORD ...
This video above all others, definitely shows a cave culture...dts/usa
Cave?
david s threshing floor of araunah had to be flat not huge stone
The stone is small. The temple is large
true histry-- romans of titus flattned all jerusalem in 70 a d
mount mao yu use is wrong-- see norma robertson maps-- templs wer in. southwest corner
Jesus said "What does it profit a man , if he gained the whole world and lost his own soul ?" So for a trophy , some stone , chiseled and hammered to defile it's natural estate, for this , the Western Wall, you want to through away the lives of your first born child ??? What are you all , crazy people ?. If God wants something, give way to God and stand aside and go in peace, leave it be, and let God come down and do it. Then God will know you value your children much more than a few dusty rocks, piled as a pillar of Idols.

The construction of another
Jewish Temple that was in Egypt,
is mentioned in the writings of
Flavius Josephus page 604 from the Book, WARS OF THE JEWS ,
Chapter X. paragraph 2.) Now, Lupus did then govern Alexandria, who presently sent Caesar word of this commotion ; who having in suspicion the restless temper of the Jews for innovation, ... gave orders to Lupus to demolish that Jewish temple which was in the region called Onion, and was in Egypt, which was built and had its denomination from the occasion following :- Onias, the son of Simon, one of the Jewish high priests, fled from Antiochus, the king of Syria, when he made war with the Jews and came to Alexandria ; and as Ptolemy received him very kindly ...
End of Quote.
and?
And let us keep reading,
"" ... on account of his hatred to Antiochus, he assured him, that if he would comply with his proposal, he would bring all the Jews to his assistance ; and when the king agreed to do it so far as he was able, he desired him to give him leave to build a temple somewhere in Egypt, ... There had been also a certain ancient prediction made by a [ prophet ] whose name was Isaiah, about six hundred years before, that this temple should be built by a man that was a Jew in Egypt, ( Isa. xix. 18-23 ).

History suggests all of this were Roman Fortress supports, that nothing of the Jewish City of Jerusalem was left, as if every stone was hauled away and the land was plowed as a field, so one would not even think there had been a city there at all ever. So this scenery is very suspect.
@@eitansoffer798 I bet any money that if your writing in Hebrew was shown to any living Jew in Temple Israel two thousand years ago, they would have no idea whatsoever you were writing. The Hebrew script as it appears today was invented during the Medieval Ages, the actual Jews in the time of Jesus were either Hellenic and read in Greek, or in Aramaic, maybe many were able to read in Latin. Of the 50 million Roman Citizens in the Empire, Jews were ten percent of the actual citizens of Roman Culture, and were literate . That means Jews could read Aramaic in Northern Israel, Greek and Latin in Judea and nothing in public was ever written in Hebrew.
So, the Jews in the time of Jesus were divided among wealthy Jews who were strong allies of Rome, and were Roman Citizens, with all their rights, and then there were the Zealot Jews who wanted to war against the Greeks and Romans and reconnect Judea , including the city of Jerusalem with the Eastern Empire of Parthia , which once was the Achaemenid Empire of Darius I and Cyrus the Great of Persia. So a war for centuries went on between the Judahites and the Ephraimites dividing Israel as Judea and Samaria. Because of this lack of civility between the tribes of Israel, their nation collapse inwardly upon itself. It was not the Romans who destroyed the Temple Israel , it was the Jews. God said the Jews have to repent of their sins and the sins of their fathers. But many Rabbis misuse the Bible to say Jews have a new covenant where a man will not die for his father's sins . But that was an offer in the Book of Ezekiel, and the Jews never built the Temple of Ezekiel, so the claim of Jews saying they have a new "Orthodoxy" or New Covenant through their sages, is false, and what Moses said holds true, in Deuteronomy 5 " The Lord your God is a Jealous God who punishes the Children for the sins of the fathers to the third and fourth generation ".
Thus Judaism took liberties with the Torah that was unauthorized by God , the Jews did not fulfill the deeds of a New Covenant, so the only Covenant is that of Moses Law, and whatever the Jews have in their Talmud or Mishnah Torah is unauthorized by God and presumably false, thus leading the Jews into traps and snares and that is called "Mystery of Iniquity ".
You believe you have the language that Jews of antiquity would be able to read, if you shown your Hebrew writings to them. That is a grave mistake, they would not recognize your modern invention of Hebrew, but they would be able to read ancient Greek, Aramaic and Latin, in the times of Judea , under King Herod.
All archaeologists (and the archaeology) agree that this was the Temple. It’s not the Roman Fortress. This includes Christian archaeologists. Don’t know why this movement was invented. But, yes, I do…because certain Christians think the Temple can be rebuilt if it’s not on the Temple Mount. It will be rebuilt but it will be on the Temple Mount-where the ACTUAL Temple was.
@@shanehen The underground stone slab under the Dome of the Rock is too large to comport with the Temple measurements. And the bedrock stone under the Dome has all been carved with CROSSES. No ?
