Close off that mower's discharge chute, add a mulching blade, and then just go over those leaves once. The mower will mulch and drop the leaves and the sweeper will pick them up on the same pass. You'll cut your lawn care time in half.
I'm happy for Chet and Jean Marie and am praying for them to have a happy healthy baby. It took a bit for me to get used to being called "Grandpa" but, with my 5th grandchild on the way now (be here about the same time as your new granddaughter), the title has grown on me. I've never understood the "congratulations" part of being a grandparent 'cause I didn't have much to do with the arrival of each grandchild and it seemed to me like "false valor"; but what the hay, enjoy it when you get the opportunity and a hearty "Congratulations!" to you both.

That's right you butcher a hog or cow and cut the fat off and boiled it and saved it in jars or some other container. Then you use it to fry your eggs in it, put some in mashed potatoes and used it for seasoning in cooking.
i grew up in Yoakum, Texas on a cattle ranch. We had cows, horses, chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks and other critters. We had 3 big gardens. Now when you go to the store it's called "Organic". Heck, that's all we ate ! I learned to drive a Farmall Cub tractor when I was about 6 years old. I had to stand up to be able to push down on the clutch with my left foot.
I still have that cub tractor. I am hoping I will live long enough to have it fully restored. I am now 76 years old.
I do keep my faith with Jesus and one day I will see him and all my friends and family that have put their trust in him.
"This world is not falling apart but things are falling into place" awaiting his soon coming .

My wife still renders lard and she's only 46 years old. I remember talking to her grandpa, who was born in the 19-oughts, about the lard cooking process. He mentioned something called "cracklings" which is what I think Dougo was talking about when he referred to the solid stuff that was strained off when lard was being made. Grandpa sounded like he really liked to eat the cracklings. He said if he was going to die from something it would be from eating too much cracklings.

University of Michigan, department of agriculture found that you can safely mow up to 14" of loose leaves into a healthy lawn. It acts as a fertilizer, and gets rid of the leaves. Does take a couple passes going over to get rid of them though. You have to block off the discharge chute on the mower deck too.

It maybe time to invest in composting and built yourselves a set of Compost Bins. This way it takes care of what to do with the leaves and creates mulch and a fertile form of garden soil. It involves worms, so you can become a worm farmer 😄

They would render the lard pig fat by melting it and the skin particles would float to the top the would skim those off the top of the boiling lard. Those bits were called crackling in pennsylvania. Not sure what they were called other places. The lard was ladeled into pans that made 1 pound bricks. Cooled and frozen for keeping. The crackling were like crispy bacon

Thank you for sharing your faith openly in the last video! God will bless you for it. Ignore the negative comments. My wife and I watch your videos every Sunday evening. Doug if you would put mulching blades on your mower and go over the lawn a couple of times first before collecting the leafs it would cut down on the pile of leafs collected. Yes, because the leafs are broken up more the sweeper may not pick it all up. But, what is left will be good for the yard and will not be so much that it will choke out the grass.
    We enjoy your videos!
