@@LRsonic they could've made it so you'd need to battle to get the tokens. that way players spend more time actively playing the game and maybe spend more money. by the time a f2p player gets enough tokens to trade, there's a decent chance they got the card they wanted from packs or wonderpick.

Ive spend 100$ the day the miracle island set came out.. got 2 reguar are 4 diamond ex's.. not even 3 mews regular art for the icon.. just a gambling mess honestly.
They should change their name. This isnt trading anymore, the biggest issue is TRADE TOKENS. they only implemented Trading for Commons and uncommons, but for rares, ex and 1stars you literally have to destroy cards to obtain said trade tokens. By that point even I could tell this isn't even trading anymore, it's literally crafting! People are fools for thinking this was trading all along. And the Devs should stop deceiving people, either remove Trade tokens or remove TRADING from the name.
So, if there is a friend you know irl (or with whom you can talk over other apps), then you can ask which card you need. 2 rhombus cards are basically free to trade, I just got a weepinbell finally.
I wish there was a way you could request the card you want in return. Unless you're in communication with the person you're trading with outside the app it's basically just a shot in the dark with what you're gonna get back.
That may be why you can only trade with friends because you can actually put on your profile page the type of cards you prefer there’s even one that says I’m trying to complete the dex and I’m not sure, but I think your friends are the only ones that can see that in your profile

People from latam have been trading like crazy in facebook groups, so far I managed to get 2 ex, 1 star and one 3 diamond card I was missing, had to sac a lot of 1 stars I planned to trade, so yeah, even with the help of strangers, this sucks
I’ve been so excited for trading for so long but this just sucks Being required to destroy a bunch of EX cards to trade one and then not knowing what you’re going to get in return is garbage. We should be able to look at cards other players have and request a trade. No tokens. Just limit the amount we can trade in a day

Business gains profit because they have access to factors of production that have high barriers to entry allowing them to sell products at consumer viable prices that otherwise are simply unattainable for smaller businesses or people who are not in business entirely. In addition, business is the voluntary exchange of currency for a desired product. Usually this involves an item for a different item. For example money for a book. Or in terms of trading a book for a movie. However, when things are the same such as trading cards whether its pokemon, sports, or game related cards, the only thing that drives trading is the market price. Nobody will trade a $25 Baseball card for a $5 dollar card just because they have multiple copies of the $25 dollar card but none of the $5 card. Thats not business because they would be out of it in less than a week if they think they can get away with that.

Just because whales spend more doesnt mean the company makes more money. Clash royale took that approach and lost around 50% of total revenue even though the amount of whales increased. I still deeply enjoy this game, but trading is just a complete airball that will leave a bitter taste in everybody who genuinely cares about this card game.

I broke down a 3-star for 300 points, and it took 400 points to trade a 1-star. How does this system make sense? Why do we have to choose people instead of choosing what we're looking for if it's already restricted to your friends list?
The burning of resources is one thing (and it really sucks), but what baffles me the most about this feature is that there doesn't seem to be any way of saying what card I want to trade for??? I don't want to trade to get rid of my duplicates, but to obtain the cards I am missing. Like for example in my case, I have 8 Moltres EX and 0 Starmie EX (and I really want the Starmie), so I just burn 5 of the Moltreses, offer the 6th one and hope the person I offered the trade to even has an extra Starmie EX and will by chance offer it to me? And until then I just keep rejecting the trade? So the only way to reasonably do this is to go to some discord, arrange the trade outside of the game, add each other as friend, burn a bunch of cards and do the trade. This seems ridiculously stupid.
I actually need a EX Moltres and have multiple Starmie's and would happily make this trade. The burning of cards is annoying, especially if you have to burn EX's for quick tokens.

@crazysquriel just the trading system is abysmal, on top of that they removed godpack wonderpicking. They managed to 10x the economy for f2p in one patch. Taking godpack wonder picks away and no info on a better trading system it seems it's going to take over 1500 dollars to collect the new set

The only way that trading has any value is if you can trade all cards. Not just a select few. Otherwise, it’s not worth it in any way. Edit: Also, why TH can’t you make a request for a card? You can only really trade irl or from a discord. You should be able to burn all cards too, even if it’s less currency for 1 diamond cards. ^
This is what I've been thinking. We should be able to burn 2 and 1 diamond cards for the tokens since they're literally useless. Of course it's gonna give you less, but it will give you more leeway to trade rarer cards
@itsmisterX With all the restrictions you would figure that no one can scam or sell two star or higher cards without it being more trouble than it’s worth… So why restrict it to 1 star and below? Perhaps they don’t restrict it on the new expansion releasing tomorrow and every one that comes after…. I guess that would be fair as people have been exploiting god packs with wonder picks and have a lot of extra 2 star cards. If that’s not the case though and trading 2 star cards and higher never becomes available, then I think they shot themselves in the foot… Where’s the incentive to want the rare cards that you can only show off in a battle? It’s a head scratcher for me.
this trading system blows. There SHOULDNT be any trade currency. it should be you post what you want and what you have to offer on a “trade market” and people can take you up on it or pass and after a certain time it expires. MAYBE limit us to 3 trades a day but the way this is currently is completely regarded imo :/
They nuked wonder picking (They’re going to lose a shit ton of money on everyone who was buying gold to wonder pick god packs). They’re forcing you to consume all your extra cards to obtain tokens to be able to trade the spare cards you just consumed. So let me get this straight. I have to burn my dupes in order to get enough tokens to trade for one card. So if I burn my dupes, the ones I needed to trade, to get the currency....then what do I trade...with? I have for example, 3 machamps ex and 5 Arcanines ex. Say I burn 3 Arcanines, and one Machamp, now I have to find someone who wants to trade another random ex in my bag for whatever I'm looking for. I'm literally just losing the very cards that I can barter with to even stand a chance at using the damn mechanic and the more I burn the lower the chances to find someone willing to trade for the scraps I have left to offer. Did...did they really take all this time witholding the feature specifically to make it as shit as possible to fuck over people as much as humanly possible or am I tripping. What's the point of trading if just to get in on it you have go quad negative and lose your tradable cards to begin with? Am I missing something here? Can we not pretend like this garbage is ok?
This is exactly my problem. I have 3 copies of Marowak EX. I was hoping to trade away one of them, but this system requires that I get rid of the very things I'd use to trade. It's ridiculous.
My first thought was "guess I'll sacrifice my extra promo cards for currency" but no, they're useless. Releasing this a day before the new set is a good way to kill the giratina hype.
I feel like it's important to note that because they list each set differently, they can come back later and make rarer cards tradeable in the future and I feel like the game is already set up with the assumption they will do so. Promos not being tradeable is sad, hopefully that doesn't remain the case forever.

imagine recommending this game to a friend because trading was about to be introduced, being excited to help that friend with a few cards so they can build a decent deck and then realize that they'll have to open way too many packs to trade a single card. tbh having to use 3 out of 5 trade stamina for 1 ex card and then having to wait 12h for 1 stamina to charge would've been a pretty ok limit. if I could make a single change to the trading system, it would be to let us dust 1-2♢ cards. even if they only give us 1-3 tokens.
So you don’t need trade tokens to trade cards that are lower than your ‘trade level’. Being at a 2 diamond I can trade as many of those as I want as long as I have stamina, but for 3 diamond and above I need trade tokens as well as stamina. That could have been explained better in the in game tutorial
It's still ass. To trade a 3D rarity card with someone else, you will need to destroy 5 of your own 3D rarity card. To trade for an EX, you need to kill 4 EX. To trade for a full art, you need to destroy 4 full art.
Hopefully they make a trade event in the future that will let us trade for the other rarity at a limited time. Might want to trade for that Giratina, too.
If you are f2p like me, you'll be able to trade only 1 card in 45 days 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. At this point, i can trade 2, maybe 3 cards, and i've been playing since day 1 of ptcgp release. Awesome 😅😅

I wasn't that upset with the trading info we've had until now, but this is ROUGH if the only way to get trade points is dusting cards. You already are going to want duplicates of cards to want to trade them, but the fact that you need even more extras just to burn them to trade away others is a WEIRD choice on the devs part.
Totally dumb. The token part is not great but not the worst thing about it. The worst thing about it, is that you dont know what you're getting back or even if your friend needs the card you're offering unless you talk directly with them. Not everyone wants to join a group just to trade. Why can't they have it so that when you click the friend you want to trade with, it will show cards that they want, perhaps these can be preselected by the friend to show the cards they are after, or the game just shows you cards they don't have and vice versa. So that you can offer them what they want and they can offer you something you want. Just makes no sense.

Forget the fact that you need to dismantle like 5 cards to trade 1. The worst thing about this sistem is that you can only offer cards to 1 person at a time AND you can't even pick what you want in return. Considering how long they took to create this function, i was really hoping for a hub of sorts were you could post/search offers. Like, i only need around 10 cards (considering i need 2 copies of each) to complete my collection, there is no way in hell i'm burning 500 trade points just to get a third copy of a card back.

This deal (trading) just keeps getting worse and worse. This is now not even useful for beginner players catching up. And for those who already got the OLD cards they want it's almost useless since they want the NEW cards (even just to play the new decks). This is just the worst of everything and really frustrating and demotivating. For me trading would have increased good will towards the devs and the game if done right. And good will = money easier spend because I feel good about the game. This implementation however feels like getting spit in the face. Yeah thx devs/suits. They might aswell remove the T from TCG. What a sad joke. Those are anti consumer actions that make people quit spending or quit the game altogether because it is just such a MASSIVE insult to the players!
Another crazy piece of info is that you can trade in your cards ABOVE the tradable rarity up to and including gold cards in exchange for the trade points! INTERESTING! So we can’t trade those cards with each other but they will gladly let us burn our non-tradable cards for some of the trade points that make this so much worse.

Imagine I went to a trading vendor and said I’ll give you $5 US dollars for $25 US dollars just because they have 2 $10 dollar bills and 5 $1 dollar bills, but no $5 dollar bills. This is a joke

@ im old enough to know business isn’t $5 for $25 dollars. Business gains profit because they have access to factors of production that have high barriers to entry allowing them to sell products at consumer viable prices that otherwise are simply unattainable for smaller businesses or people who are not in business entirely.
In addition, business is the voluntary exchange of currency for a desired product. Usually this involves an item for a different item. For example money for a book. Or in terms of trading a book for a movie.
However, when things are the same such as trading cards whether its pokemon, sports, or game related cards, the only thing that drives trading is the market price. Nobody will trade a $25 Baseball card for a $5 dollar card just because they have multiple copies of the $25 dollar card but none of the $5 card. Thats not business because they would be out of it in less than a week if they think they can get away with that.
@@LightningN1NjA the way business works? this trade feature is not enhancing the devs profit at all if everyone agrees it's shit and not worth using already, they will keep getting money from the already established features but no way a significant amount of people will spend money on the trading aspect if it stays like this

Just because whales spend more doesnt mean the company makes more money. Clash royale took that approach and lost around 50% of total revenue even though the amount of whales increased. I still deeply enjoy this game, but trading is just a complete airball that will leave a bitter taste in everybody who genuinely cares about this card game.

I broke down a 3-star for 300 points, and it took 400 points to trade a 1-star. How does this system make sense? Why do we have to choose people instead of choosing what we're looking for if it's already restricted to your friends list?

The burning of resources is one thing (and it really sucks), but what baffles me the most about this feature is that there doesn't seem to be any way of saying what card I want to trade for??? I don't want to trade to get rid of my duplicates, but to obtain the cards I am missing. Like for example in my case, I have 8 Moltres EX and 0 Starmie EX (and I really want the Starmie), so I just burn 5 of the Moltreses, offer the 6th one and hope the person I offered the trade to even has an extra Starmie EX and will by chance offer it to me? And until then I just keep rejecting the trade? So the only way to reasonably do this is to go to some discord, arrange the trade outside of the game, add each other as friend, burn a bunch of cards and do the trade. This seems ridiculously stupid.
I actually need a EX Moltres and have multiple Starmie's and would happily make this trade.
The burning of cards is annoying, especially if you have to burn EX's for quick tokens.

@ Either way, I would wait until tomorrow to see if they introduce an alternative way of getting the trade currency with the new expansion. I would rather keep my extra EXes if at all possible 😅
@@Bloody0range I was able to rake up 500 tokens. Hopefully they'll make some events where players can earn a decent amount of tokens. Either way, I think they will still cop a lot of backlash for this system.

@crazysquriel just the trading system is abysmal, on top of that they removed godpack wonderpicking. They managed to 10x the economy for f2p in one patch. Taking godpack wonder picks away and no info on a better trading system it seems it's going to take over 1500 dollars to collect the new set

The only way that trading has any value is if you can trade all cards. Not just a select few. Otherwise, it’s not worth it in any way.
Edit: Also, why TH can’t you make a request for a card? You can only really trade irl or from a discord.

This is what I've been thinking. We should be able to burn 2 and 1 diamond cards for the tokens since they're literally useless. Of course it's gonna give you less, but it will give you more leeway to trade rarer cards

Perhaps they don’t restrict it on the new expansion releasing tomorrow and every one that comes after…. I guess that would be fair as people have been exploiting god packs with wonder picks and have a lot of extra 2 star cards. If that’s not the case though and trading 2 star cards and higher never becomes available, then I think they shot themselves in the foot… Where’s the incentive to want the rare cards that you can only show off in a battle? It’s a head scratcher for me.

There SHOULDNT be any trade currency. it should be you post what you want and what you have to offer on a “trade market” and people can take you up on it or pass and after a certain time it expires. MAYBE limit us to 3 trades a day but the way this is currently is completely regarded imo :/

They nuked wonder picking (They’re going to lose a shit ton of money on everyone who was buying gold to wonder pick god packs). They’re forcing you to consume all your extra cards to obtain tokens to be able to trade the spare cards you just consumed. You can’t even trade the cards you’d actually want to trade for because everything rare is blocked. Fuck this game. Should be called ‘Pokémon Can’t Trade Shit Game Pocket’. Why even still call it a ‘trading card game’ if trading is this seriously restricted. At this point, it shouldn’t even be able to be called that. It’s just a digital ‘playing card game’.

So let me get this straight. I have to burn my dupes in order to get enough tokens to trade for one card.
So if I burn my dupes, the ones I needed to trade, to get the currency....then what do I trade...with?
I have for example, 3 machamps ex and 5 Arcanines ex. Say I burn 3 Arcanines, and one Machamp, now I have to find someone who wants to trade another random ex in my bag for whatever I'm looking for.
I'm literally just losing the very cards that I can barter with to even stand a chance at using the damn mechanic and the more I burn the lower the chances to find someone willing to trade for the scraps I have left to offer.
Did...did they really take all this time witholding the feature specifically to make it as shit as possible to fuck over people as much as humanly possible or am I tripping.

This is exactly my problem. I have 3 copies of Marowak EX. I was hoping to trade away one of them, but this system requires that I get rid of the very things I'd use to trade. It's ridiculous.

My first thought was "guess I'll sacrifice my extra promo cards for currency" but no, they're useless. Releasing this a day before the new set is a good way to kill the giratina hype.
I feel like it's important to note that because they list each set differently, they can come back later and make rarer cards tradeable in the future and I feel like the game is already set up with the assumption they will do so. Promos not being tradeable is sad, hopefully that doesn't remain the case forever.

So the game with trading in its name has a system that is effectively worse than dusting extra copies in every other digital card game.

imagine recommending this game to a friend because trading was about to be introduced, being excited to help that friend with a few cards so they can build a decent deck and then realize that they'll have to open way too many packs to trade a single card. tbh having to use 3 out of 5 trade stamina for 1 ex card and then having to wait 12h for 1 stamina to charge would've been a pretty ok limit. if I could make a single change to the trading system, it would be to let us dust 1-2♢ cards. even if they only give us 1-3 tokens.

So you don’t need trade tokens to trade cards that are lower than your ‘trade level’. Being at a 2 diamond I can trade as many of those as I want as long as I have stamina, but for 3 diamond and above I need trade tokens as well as stamina. That could have been explained better in the in game tutorial

To trade a 3D rarity card with someone else, you will need to destroy 5 of your own 3D rarity card.
To trade for an EX, you need to kill 4 EX.
To trade for a full art, you need to destroy 4 full art.

I wasn't that upset with the trading info we've had until now, but this is ROUGH if the only way to get trade points is dusting cards. You already are going to want duplicates of cards to want to trade them, but the fact that you need even more extras just to burn them to trade away others is a WEIRD choice on the devs part.

Totally dumb. The token part is not great but not the worst thing about it. The worst thing about it, is that you dont know what you're getting back or even if your friend needs the card you're offering unless you talk directly with them. Not everyone wants to join a group just to trade.
Why can't they have it so that when you click the friend you want to trade with, it will show cards that they want, perhaps these can be preselected by the friend to show the cards they are after, or the game just shows you cards they don't have and vice versa. So that you can offer them what they want and they can offer you something you want. Just makes no sense.

Forget the fact that you need to dismantle like 5 cards to trade 1. The worst thing about this sistem is that you can only offer cards to 1 person at a time AND you can't even pick what you want in return. Considering how long they took to create this function, i was really hoping for a hub of sorts were you could post/search offers. Like, i only need around 10 cards (considering i need 2 copies of each) to complete my collection, there is no way in hell i'm burning 500 trade points just to get a third copy of a card back.

This deal (trading) just keeps getting worse and worse.
This is now not even useful for beginner players catching up.
And for those who already got the OLD cards they want it's almost useless since they want the NEW cards (even just to play the new decks).
This is just the worst of everything and really frustrating and demotivating.
For me trading would have increased good will towards the devs and the game if done right.
And good will = money easier spend because I feel good about the game.
This implementation however feels like getting spit in the face. Yeah thx devs/suits.
They might aswell remove the T from TCG. What a sad joke.
Those are anti consumer actions that make people quit spending or quit the game altogether because it is just such a MASSIVE insult to the players!
Another crazy piece of info is that you can trade in your cards ABOVE the tradable rarity up to and including gold cards in exchange for the trade points! INTERESTING! So we can’t trade those cards with each other but they will gladly let us burn our non-tradable cards for some of the trade points that make this so much worse.
