Thank you to The Tonight Show for having Ms. Love back on late night. Her annual appearances with Paul and Dave were one of my favorite Christmas traditions.
@@pr3817 True that... Playing down to the least common denominator isn't funny, but there are other options. Darlene Love makes watching the end of his show a welcome exception.
@@pr3817-What is YOUR MALFUNCTION You'd better be grateful that he's keeping the tradition of 'Letterman and Schaefer' ALIVE, having this iconic singer ON!!!!
Often imitated, but NEVER duplicated. I know she's performed this on The View since David Letterman retired, but having her reunited with Paul Shaffer just brings back the iconic sound and makes it feel like Christmas! At 83, she's aged like a fine wine and still sounds incredible!
Could the Emmy's give her an award for one of the most consistent great TELEVISION performances delivered year in and year out!!!! She deserves one!!!!!! Thank you, Jimmy, for bringing her back to late night television!!!!!
Paul spent enormous amounts of time every year meticulously recreating the wall of sound to back an amazing vocal artist and in the process they created an incredible tradition. Glad to see it back and thank you to everyone involved back in the day and everyone that made it happen this year.
This is making me teary. It just hasn't been right not having Darleen Love sing every Christmas. Thank you, everyone, for bringing this back. And how is she not aging? She looks and sounds amazing!!
So awesome!!!! It wasn't Christmas until I watched her performance on Letterman each year. So wonderful to have this tradition back, and I love that Paul Shaffer was there too. She's incredible!
So many fond memories of tuning in to see what Paul and Darlene would be treating us to on Letterman over the years. It's a tradition I miss very, very much. Seeing them together again really warms my heart. Thank you to all who made this possible.
Jimmy! Thank you so much for letting Darlene come home for Christmas! I’ve missed her annual performance since Dave left. PLEASE MAKE THIS AN EVERY TEAR EVENT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE 💖
Thanks Darlene,i remember hearing this song in 1970 on the DMZ in Korea on Christmas . Reminds me of all my buddies away from home and family at Christmas time ,takes me back there ! Love to all !
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show for inviting Darlene Love, Paul Schaffer , The Disciples of Soul and also Little Steven - to perform this iconic Christmas song. It never felt like Christmas until I saw Darlene Love and crew on The Letterman Show. Darlene is simply THE BEST.
I miss Letterman’s last show before Christmas. It always put me in the mood for the holidays. RIP Jay Thomas. So nice to see Darlene Love and Paul still so great after all these years. Next year use The Most Dangerous Band to back her up!
you haven't missed a note EVER...it would never be christmas without you singing this one. thank you darlene, stevie and the disciples of soul. (and sorry mariah...but THIS is the queen)
I am so glad to see she is still with us after a year where a lot of musical entertainers have passed on and to see her still singing after all these years; it made my heart glad. I thank all who participated here on the Tonight Show.
Darlene Love is my favorite annual Christmas tradition. Glad she''s on the Tonight Show. This is her best televised rendition of this song in years. And she's 83! Shen looks great, sounds even better. Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul, plus Paul Shaffer made it perfect.
NOW I CAN HAVE CHRISTMAS! THANK YOU DARLENE AND ALL. I WAIT EVERY YEAR TO SEE HER,SHE NEVER DISAPPOINTS. GOD BLESS US ALL! HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS WHERE EVER YOU ARE!❤❤❤
So so so so happy that The Tonight Show had these LEGENDS on to perform this year. This is the only Christmas song that I actually enjoy hearing every single year. Darlene Love is such an ICON… She’s out there gorgeous as ever and KILLING it at 83! Paul Shaffer and Little Steven are still the coolest too ❤
Thank you bringing back our annual Christmas song with Darlene Love and Paul Schaefer. Dave Letterman's annual Christmas show was the best! Please do this every year!❤❤❤
WOW!!!! THAT was Great Moma!!! Thank you Jimmy for bringing her .... Now... Live!!! And not waiting for a memory.. you know what I mean ,:,? It was absolutely spiritual 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
So glad that this was posted since it was on too late for me last night. Darlene was awesome as usual and at 83 she is amazing! Thank you also to Jimmy, Paul, Stevie and everyone on stage and behind it for bringing back this annual Christmas classic performance for all of us to enjoy!
The difference between this and the other song is that people are sick of that one after just a few years. However, this song is eternal and still brings chills and happy tears all these decades later. THE ONE AND ONLY QUEEN OF CHRISTMAS THAT I'M PROUD TO SHARE A NAME WITH!!! ❤
Best thing I have seen this holidat season! And watching Paul Shaffer at the piano is quite a treat! The man can play anything, and always with a huge smile on his face! He cannot hide the joy he gets from playing.
OMG! Just caught The Tonight Show with Jimmy (2024) and Darlene Love was closing the show! Folks, she has not lost one ounce of talent! She has the muscles and can make the moves, like a 16 year old with no effort! Too late for most to wish for that one and she’s 83! Whatever you’re doing Ms. Love, it’s working and then some! Lookin’ good girl! God Bless! 💖
She knows how to carry notes really well! That's one of the things about a lot of Christmas songs you can really sing them with power and carry the notes with the lyrics I could show you what I mean because I'm one of the best at singing Christmas carols! I sing like Tennessee Earny Ford used to sing them.
