Yes, a GMT watch can still be useful without a day/night indicator. The 24-hour GMT hand inherently shows whether it's day or night in the second time zone. While a day/night indicator adds convenience, it's not essential if you're comfortable reading 24-hour time.

The “GMT” function is gimped because there’s no 24 hour or am/pm marker
It’s still very functional and makes the watch much more versatile .
