I love tigers. And the tiger is so cute and the guy is brave this is sad 😢
The tiger was a metaphor
He was starving at sea with his mom and the the ship cook, and some other guy who was a con man or a crook, some kind of bad guy. The bad guy gets killed first and the cook , the mom, and him eat him in desperation. The cook dies somehow and the mom and the boy Pi eat him. Then the mom dies and and he eats his mom.
Because the truth about how he survived at sea for so long is too traumatizing, he makes up this fairytale about himself trapped on the boat with zoo animals. The tiger represents his hunger

I no how this story was pretty much his retelling of how he survived out n open waters with actual people an. It animals but does tht symbolize tht they ate a dead girl at som point for survival or am I over thinking the story.
