  • American metal band System Of A Down released 'Chop Suey!' in August 2001, and since then many theories have swirled about the song's meaning. Here's what I think the lyrics and the song are actually about.

Never thought I’d see Britpop fanatic James Hargreaves talk about System of A Down, what a weird world we live in

Fascinating interpretation. Tbh I'd never had the faintest idea what the lyrics meant, but I think you hit the nail on the head. I also really like that you're covering heavier bands. I like Oasis, but I've always liked heavy music too, which I've had to put up with a lot of stick for over the years. I'd love to see more heavy music delved into.

makes sense when a lot of soad songs are about conspiracy theories and questioning the government, which is something i've kinda only just realised. the end of this video where you linked the verse lyrics to the chorus ones blew my mind. you've made me enjoy this song even more

Great to see James diving deep in other genres and directions. Would LOVE to see some Nirvana, Sabbath and Hendrix coverage from James. Or more Punk features. x

James, if you ever fancy a completely difficult task, try to work out what My Bloody Valentine’s “Loveless” means, track by track.

S.O.A.D. are another one of my all time favourite bands. Toxicity being my favourite song from them and they are one of the best political bands out there. Was a complete surprise to see a video on a metal band from you. lol

“when angels deserve to die” i thought was lucifer who should be punished instead of jesus,.. but its not as thought out as your theories, you are brilliant james.

Great video, i never would’ve interpreted it this way, but it’s uncanny how well it all links together, I think you’ve cracked it here! I’d love to see some more content around bands outside of the britpop/uk indie sphere in the future🫡

It's about UK Garage and R&B sensation Craig Davids's failure to break America. He's singing from the perspective of Davids. Summat like that.
