If you are riding on well-lit roads, it potentially could be. However, the COB lens does not light up the road so I would be hesitant to use it as your only night-time light. It's a much better daytime bright light or as a second light.
Ive heard the mount is a weak point on this product, with many people claim it snaps off at the mount plate due to weight stress. Especially if you add a device on the top of the light.. I may be wrong as I guess this is a new version?
This is the latest version of the light, you might heard mounting issues with the previous FR160 or the Fabric Lumaray which had a similar design. If you have a heavier GPS you may want to use a tether as a backup as the mounts appear to be plastic. I haven't run into issue with it yet though.
I was given one of these as a gift but do not have a cycling computer. As far as I can tell out of the box it cannot be mounted without some additional hardware. Are you able to suggest what I'd need to purchase to be able to mount it? Thanks.
You will need some sort of handlebar mount (an out-front mount or just a standard Garmin style handlebar mount). RAVEMEN does not include one out of the box. There are lots of cheap options on Amazon - just search for "Garmin handlebar mount" but I'd recomment KOM Cycling's out-front mounts - komcycling.com/collections/garmin-bike-mounts-1
Is it really that visible from the side? On a drop handlebar seems to be situated between the brake levers and if on top of that you ride on the hoods would that not block side visibility?
Yes, the wrap around design is visible from side angles. Even if you are parallel to it with the handlebars blocking the direct view to the FR300 you have the reflected light illuminating your arms and bars which makes you visible.
It depends. From further distances away, the focused lens design of the Ion 200 RT is brighter and more visible. At closer distance and side angles the FR300 appears brighter with the wrap-around COB LED.
I see nothing different with the wahoo and garmin fitting. I used my wahoo with the fitting it came with which is the garmin and it snap into place no problem WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?
The difference between Garmin / Wahoo is the orientation of the tabs. They are 90 degrees off from each other, otherwise they are identical to my knowledge. If you look closely, the tabs & screw holes will be in different positions relative to each other.
The gadget is cool it lights up well but has one big flaw, it does not have any element that shows the state of charge. It happened to me that while driving it turned off after a few minutes.
The button is actually illuminated to indicate the battery status. It will either be green / red / flashing red to give you a rough estimate of the battery status. It isn't as exact as a multi-led display but helps remind you to charge it before you ride or plug it into a battery.
I use the one by Fabric for so many years. Still going strong. 😊 Fabric or Ravemen, they are both To Be Seen kind of lights. It’s not enough to light up the road

This is a perfect be-seen light to make sure others see you on the road. It's great for road cycling as a daytime bright light as it tucks underneath your GPS.

Yes, the wrap-around LED design looks cool and gives you visibility from any angle.

Glad to hear your Fabric Lumaray is still working for you. It's not clear what is going on Fabric, they stopped making new products a few years ago.
