Pene and penne could mean different things but the sounds are almost identical, so for spanish the word "penne" doesnt exist and the closest word is that one (pene).

i mean pene is also PP in italian (in more scientific terms cause there are more words for pp) but that's why italians do pronounce the double NN , also the e accent is different like one is è which is more closed and the other is é which is more open

Penne does exist in Spanish, as a loanword to refer to that type of pasta. It's not rare to buy penne at the supermarket or mention it when talking about pasta recipes.

i feel like raora knew but just didn't want to point out the douoble meaning, beacuse with one "n" it means the same thing as spanish in italian. so guys really make those double "n" be heard if you ever find yourself speaking italian (luckly gender and number of the two names dont line up so you'll hardly be misunderstood, the article saves you in this case)

To be specific Penna/e in Italian started by only meaning feathers, in the past feathers where used for writing, later (if I remeber correctly at the end of the reinessance) fountain pens started to spread around the italian peninsula (as penna/e stilografica/he abbrevieted as penna/e), while the penne pasta was born in 1865 and it was named as penna/e because of how much similiar the tip of this pasta is with the fountain pen
PS: if you take away one n you will have the word pene (slightly diiferent pronunciation), and this word means penis in both spanish and italian

Isn't penis in Spanish "pene"? That means penis in Italian as well, "penne" is a different word.

    • @12tanuha21

But Spanish don't have penne. That mean for them pene and penne sound similar enough, while for Italian they are 2 different words.

Side note(not a full Spanish speaker-mixed ethnicity weirdness): while most of the Spanish speaking world uses el bolígrafo for pen the south Texas dialect of Spanish still uses la pluma for pens and feathers yes you heard that right we call ours pens feathers still. The south Texas dialect of Spanish also uses chongo for hair tie which is ummmmm..... Very much not that in some other dialects of Spanish. (I didn't realize it was called hair tie in English untill my teens and i didn't realize it's very lewd in other dialects of Spanish untill my 20's)

Pene means penis in Italian too. But Spanish does not have the double “n” in the their language. In Italian a double consonant changes a word into another with total different meaning.
